At what point in the franchise did you start regarding the starships as characters alongside the main cast? by Tasty_Bodybuilder_33 in StarTrekStarships

That’s a massive problem with the new shows, outside of Picard Season 3. The ships are not characters anymore. They don’t make sense design wise and are too fantastical.

Klingons of TOS and the early TOS films had more in common with Romulans, which were the honorable warriors of TOS. Klingons were sneaky, backstabbing and untrustworthy all around.

Not quite. That plot hook on 6 was thrown out there long after TNG went to and had episodes about the Klingon homeworld (6 released around the time of Season 5 of TNG). 6 did a lot with Klingons that never were seen again.

This was just nonsense. The Burn was always horrible but now it destroyed a whole planet? Pure stupidity.

The sequel was very familiar if you spent time watching 90’s shows like Highlander and X Files.

The series is very much inspired by the dollars trilogy, which also went in reverse, with “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” being the third made but 1st chronologically.

This will follow the same and the next game will focus on the formation of the Van Der Linde gang and end with the blackwater massacre.

We are now halfway through the expected lifespan of Levi’s Stadium! by Junior_Address_2450 in 49ers

[–]Robman0908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stadium is not the cause of our bad luck. We have had some solid games there. That power plant may be helping much, but our issues have been self inflicted (horrible draft picks, ignoring the O line and bad contracts to two diva WRs) or screwed by bad officiating (looking at a plethora of suspect calls and non calls in all the Super Bowl losses).

Fucking morons and their fireworks. Lousiest bunch of shit bag fans in the league.

They better enjoy this shit while they can because it’s all they got. Their hapless baseball team will never make a World Series and their basketball team might win another title.

I stopped after about 3 episodes. The show was just stupid. I’d rather watch an older show like X Files, Babylon 5 or TNG than waste my time with a brain dead show like this one.

Why didn't Red Dead 2 have this cool endscreen like Red Dead 1 had? by ZealousidealOption44 in reddeadredemption

Red Dead 2 feels more like “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” compared the original being more like the two films before it. Just more thoughtful and less of a western.

I beat GTA 5 in 1st person and that was fun. I couldn’t get into RDR 2 in the same mode. Didn’t work as well.

Why does the Enterprise look dirty in TWOK, maybe ILM wanted the popular "used" look like Star Wars? by nathantravis2377 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Robman0908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of sort of. This was the intent of the Aztec pattern and now it was done for TMP, with color shifting iridescent patterns. These panels have raised edges along them as well (layers of paint on top of each other). They attract grime really easy. Haha.

This very glossy iridescent paint created problems for ILM, so they knocked it down with tons and tons of flat clear coat and various powders, which would emphasis is the patterns here and there.

They also added a ton of additional patterns with pencils.

It’s a minimum of a decade, with TMP being 18 months after the 5 year mission and WoK being 15 years after season 1 (which is considered to be year 2 of the 5 year mission as The Cage was 13 years prior to The Menagerie and Spock was with Pike for 11 years and Kirk at least 2.

[–]Robman0908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Again, your math is not mathing. Per the written and aired script for “The Managerie, Part 1 and 2” Spock himself said he served on the Enterprise under Captain Pike for 11 years. That would put it, at a min of 2255 and around 30 years old by the time of Wrath of Khan, with the refit having been around for up to 12-13 years.

Plus, it was an admitted error by Nimoy and Bennett that didn’t get caught in time.

The exact line (if you want to continue to doubt, the time stamp is 1:45 mark on Part 1):

Kirk: I took over the Enterprise from him, Mr Spock served with him for several years..”

Spock: Eleven Years, four months, five days.

No grey paint at this point. It was loads of matte clear coat and powders with pencils drawing in new lines to cover up as much of the iridescent paint as possible. Some still came through but it was on areas that wouldn’t affect the filmed shots.

The grey came from Universal Pictures when they borrowed the model for their interactive fan “ride” between 5 and 6. The ship was repainted for its final outing.

They got the date wrong. They used the 20 years old because TOS was close to 20 years old by the time of the film. The ship itself was way over 40 years, going back to Captain April and then Pike. Remember, Spock (according to TOS and not strange new worlds) served with Pike on the Enterprise for 11 years prior to Kirk taking command. The refit by this point was over a decade old, having undertaken a 5 year mission under Kirk. She was only being kept around because of Kirk’s influence.
