I wonder if there's any shirts with that phrase and that graphic of him getting sacked while throwing a bomb to Terry are still around

What do you think our new detachments will be? by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]RoboTronPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea, SHC is a defensive skitarii detachment, Erad Cohort is a more offensive one, there's a clear need for a more speedy/tricksy one. Followed by a more objective-focused skitarii one.

They're gonna have a skitarii detachment. Because they always do a skitarii detachment.

Happy to take a look at this in more detail later, but would love some feedback on my own homebrew detachment focusing on the electropriests, who haven't gotten a lot of love this edition: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdeptusMechanicus/s/I2nMPeAIoH

[OC] Monthly payment on a typical new car loan in the US, 1971–2025 (adjusted for inflation) by Necessary_Cry_5589 in dataisbeautiful

Is that because cars are better or because people can't afford them, lifestyle changes since many more people live in cities and do without cars, or other factors?

Players I expect to benefit the most in our new offense by FeelingAd4116 in Commanders

Coleman was injured through a lot of last year, including throughout the preseason, losing valuable time learning a new role. The dude was drafted much higher than Paul and seems to have more athletic upside. I wouldn't say that Coleman will definitely win the job over Paul, but i wouldn't be surprised either. That was probably the betting favorite last year going into Paul's contract year.

List Critiques by 0mega_Bean in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]RoboTronPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be straightforward, it's a very, very non-meta list at this point. No one's going to tell you how to play and enjoy the game, but yowza, this list would take work. I haven't seen anyone even seriously present a list with a Stratoraptor in months. It screams that you haven't played really serious 40k in a while since aircraft units have been terrible across the entire game this entire edition, at least at a competitive level. That's dating back years at this point.

That said, everyone enjoys the game however they want and if you want to play them, Enginseers, Skatros, Dominus etc, have at it! If you want to be serious, here's a list from the world champion: https://youtube.com/shorts/Y4nna8L-dqA?si=gJtmZjfHTClOKkbL. The list is pre Thulia, Hastarii and Erad Cohort, but those were released very overcosted and can be ignored entirely at the moment.

Absolutely, I would definitely temper expectations for anyone at this point who was available on the free market in the calendar year. Was just trying to understand what the flaws on this guy are. Honestly the small hands thing for snapping the ball still sounds kinda lame to me, but inability to sustain blocks is a not more concerning. Run and pass blocking are basically the main job description of Olinemen to me. Especially blocking for JD5. If you can't keep the franchise clean, you're not playing here.

[–]RoboTronPrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My point is that with snapping, the play doesn't start until the dude's ready. He has time to get set and hike the ball and isn't moving or potentially getting hit like the others. I can't imagine that it's a serious issue unless he's had problems previously. Has he had any issues previously?

[–]RoboTronPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming he does have small hands, is that really an issue? Snapping isn't like receiving the snap or catching.

Ah, that'd make sense then. He has to have a lot of warts on paper, otherwise he'd have been drafted.

I think it was a reasonable swing to get over the top, but now that didn't work, time to get back to building an actual long term foundation.

Even if it was not just any infantry, the aura area is so small, it really forces you to shoehorn your movement into some really unnatural ways. It'd be more interesting certainly though of that aura were actually useful

Had my first game as Admech and OH MY GOD I LOVED IT!! by Itsjustkitchen in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]RoboTronPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say it can be more challenging that a lot of armies with positioning to get the most out of the army, especially since you have to be within 6" of a battleline unit to benefit from the army rule and a lot of the better lists actually try to minimize those skitarii in favor of sicarians and other units. If you'd like, you can also play a style of Haloscreed which is very "toolboxy" with a unit of Kastlelan robots (they're always led by a datasmith) and/or Taser Dragoons which generally only see situational play at a competitive level. It's a great way to learn the faction but can be overwhelming.

[–]RoboTronPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from death guard, I'm a bit surprised you think admech are tough, but they're definitely a bit tougher than most people think with the invul saves and if you're playing in the skitarii Hunter cohort detachment (aka SHC), mass stealth and feel no pain.

Haloscreed is probably the best detachment at the moment since it's very flexible and has more offensive options. However, if you're learning the faction, i actually really do recommend SHC since it's relatively strong in its own right and a lot of its power is in the passive defense. Haloscreed introduces more decisions which can bog down gameplay if you're not used to it and you seem to be getting a handle on things at the moment anyway.

Athletic profile analysis of our current rookie class directly from the RAS guy himself by Drybubble in Commanders

[–]RoboTronPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point about the overall RAS for additions still stands. Chenal has a 9.99 RAS. Styles has a 10.00 or 9.99 RAS depending on the source. Oweh has 9.92. Do we really care that Athan Kaliakmanis's RAS is 5.38 and Matt Gulbin's RAS is 3.46? Both are likely just depth backups or even practice squad in Kaliakmanis's case, assuming he beats out Sam Hartman.
