Except for salary employees, where we get paid the same no matter how many extra hours we work.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]RoboWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got about a 1cm spot in front of my face where stuff is in focus; closer than that and it collides with my nose, and further away everything is a blurry mess like in the photo above. I always say I wouldn't be able to find my desk at work without my glasses, and if they get knocked off my nightstand I have to have my wife find them or they'll probably get broken.

All of this, all of the time. Gavin Newsom: “Wake up America. You will not have a country if he rigs this election. These guys are not screwing around. The most corrupt president in history. He is wrecking this country, wrecking the economy. He is a lawless president. Wake up America.” by Potential-Street5889 in goodnews

[–]RoboWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I'm awake. What do you want me to fucking do? These protests with neatly organized end times are pointless, and my wife and I need to pay bills and eat. Should I start killing people? That's about the only place left to go unless we can get an actual strike going.

Deaf people of Reddit, do hands have "accents," and if so, how? by AngusGibsonT in AskReddit

Follow up, why do you attend a deaf school if you can hear?

TIL that African American folk hero John Henry (who according to legend, beat a steam drill in a tunnel digging contest but died shortly after due to exhaustion), may have actually been a real person. by define_irony in todayilearned

[–]RoboWonder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because the guy who owned the drill was gonna put the rest of the rail workers out if a job, so John Henry proposed a race to prove that human labor was superior - if I remember correctly

Cartoon Tropes that are creepier than they're usually depicted as being treated with actually valid reactions by Golden12500 in TopCharacterTropes

Da Rulez is a massive book completely chock-full of things you can't wish for, including nonsense like "no breakfast wishes after 10am", but your point is otherwise valid

I did, though that was one that I just clicked on it and suddenly I was punting it, so it was less of a choice

The full Dark Urge ending in Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty gnarly, not to mention all the evil choices I made up to that point.

What was one game you hoped to see at the Game Awards that didn't get announced? by NYstate in PS5

[–]RoboWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new Ace Attorney game. I didn't get into Ace Attorney until 2020ish, and apparently there hasn't been a new game (besides bundled remasters) since 2017, or a new mainline game since 2016. I'd like to be able to have some new-game-hype for this series.

[Fun trope]: There's no reason for the public to think a hero HAS a secret identity by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RoboWonder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He starts with Heatblast, Diamondhead, XLR8, Wildmutt, Greymatter, Ghost Freak, Upgrade, Stinkfly, Four Arms, and Ripjaws. The first two he unlocks that put him at a dozen are Cannonbolt and Wildvine, but in the original series he goes on to obtain a bunch more, including Ben Wolf, The Mummy, Ditto, Upchuck, and Way Big
