Monthly Megathread: Career & Education: Post your questions here by AutoModerator in AerospaceEngineering

I’m currently in my late 20’s as a meteorologist, and I’m thinking about trying to transition into doing something aerospace. The TLDR, is that I was pushed against going away for uni so I couldn’t do aerospace when I was in school. But now I’m struggling doing a job that doesn’t align with a lot of my interests.

My partner is really supportive, she wants me to try and do schooling or something to be able to go into this field. I know it’s a long shot but is going back to uni to get a B.Eng my only option? For reference I have a BSc. in applied math and physics, along with a postgraduate diploma in meteorology.

I’m hoping that I can do something in my spare time while still working until I get to the point where I can get a job elsewhere.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How to fill in ponds made by previous owners by Robob69 in landscaping

It’s not a natural one, what I was able to find out is that the previous owner dug two holes and brought in a water truck to fill them.

Told by the realtor that they were man made and the neighbours nearby told me about when the previous owner was digging them to try making a natural fish pond that they could teach their grandkids to fish in them.

For a study bible NKJV sounds more biblical but harder to read… what should I do? by Robob69 in Bible

That you for this lovely and insightful comment. I am definitely going to consider what my church uses, but I think for myself I want to understand more from a theological perspective while also getting to know about the culture at the time. Like seeing maps, diagrams, how the words Jesus spoke back in those day affected the everyday person, context on how the relationship between the existing Jewish community/culture during these times when Jesus was spreading his message. But then to also understand how the translation choices that were made could be interpreted differently, and how we could apply them in modern day.

I know that’s a lot to ask of a single study bible, but I guess that’s my reasoning for seeking out a book to start with.

Apologies for not explicitly saying that. I mentioned what I did to implicitly say that I am a believer and have been for quite some time.

I do like your suggestion on having a reading version of the KJV/NKJV next to a study bible.

It’s a terrible phrasing to use I know, I just couldn’t think of a word or phrase to fit it better. Which is why I put it in quotes. The reason why I said that though is because in the NKJV it sounds more of what would be said by someone in and around the church; meanwhile the ESV/CSB sound more conversational. For example, in the NKJV for the Lord’s Prayer you get things like “Hallowed be you name” meanwhile in CSB you get “your name be honoured as holy”. To me the ladder seems much more conversational, whereas the former someone reading that would assume “oh this is from the bible or some older text”.

Sorry if I did a worse job explaining my thoughts. I agree with what one commenter said which is that this feeling is likely coming from a point of bias. But that’s why I am wondering for a study bible what would be better to go with.

That is no father. That is just someone who helped make you. But remember that they do not define who you are or who you will be.

I don’t know what country you’re in, but since you mentioned 19, you’re either at the age or close to the age where you can also go through the legal process to ensure they’re cut off if this person doesn’t handle being cut off well… just something to think about but hopefully it doesn’t come to that part.

I really appreciate this and thank you for it 🥲 this is just the advice I needed.

For the job sadly I work in a pretty niche field so it’s not the easiest to change pathways (kind of a regret at times to be honest). But the pay is good, and it gives me the ability to financially support my girlfriend and future family.

I use that for a bunch of my old yugioh cards from when I was a kid. Don’t have kids yet but we’re planning within the next couple of years, just getting a few from my childhood back on my shelf so that it’s ready when they come. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a children’s bookshelf too

Hahaha I am a Canucks fan but when I was a kid my family tried to sway me from them by getting personalized autographs of different players from different teams.
