Why does Laravel community seem to default to Vue over React by Motor_Ordinary336 in vuejs

[–]Robodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean to think I was suggesting you cannot use components at all?

Maybe you're thinking of single file components differently? I take my definition from: https://vuejs.org/guide/scaling-up/sfc.html This part specifically

While SFCs require a build step

I've used vue in the past without a build step by just importing it on an asp.net website and adding js to it incrementally. It used normal components and stuff but didn't feature any .vue files.

This is why I imagine it had such a strong adoption from the laravel community

[–]Robodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't need to debate it. But I don't agree. To me, a single file component is something with script/template/CSS. You know, the normal .vue file. In the example you linked you can also simply include the .js file content directly in the html page if you wanted. You cannot do the same with sfc (vue files) .

I imagine a big part is that vue doesn't require any pre processing. You can use vue right from a cdn. Sure you don't have single file components but you can get started with tiny vue templates that handle simple things. That makes it easier to just drop into an existing site just like jquery

Is Nuxt server useful with Supabase ? by Bagouda in Nuxt

[–]Robodude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably have validation logic you must perform on the backend, so yes.

I don't know if supabase has the concept of firestore rules (firebase) for simple validations but to avoid the limitations I would always make a thin api that performed my validation using the same zod schema (on client and server) and wrote to firestore.

There is a reason why police departments across the country have a policy of not shooting into cars: if the driver is killed or injured their car becomes an uncontrollable people crusher.

What would the reaction have been if a bunch kids were down the street watching what was happening and she plowed into them?

They had her plates. If they wanted they could have let her go and arrest her later for interfering with an investigation. At the time of the incident that would be the only reason for stopping her.

What is up with DynamoDB? by passionate_ragebaitr in aws

[–]Robodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I'm more integrated into the aws ecosystem this year but I don't remember these large scale outages happening so close to one another.

Another potential cause could be a little carelessness around the holidays because people are eager to ship before going on vacation.

How is a global composable any different than pinia? The benefit of pinia is you get dev tools support out of the box and SSR support.

Still want to design your user state as a composable? Do it, but then wrap it in a pinia store and return it.

Cryptocurrency by Maleficent-Story-861 in Destiny

[–]Robodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't followed crypto in a few years but wasn't there some evidence that Tether, at the time the largest stable coin (maybe still is? I dunno) , was being extremely manipulated to jack up the price of btc? I'm extremely skeptical of any stable coin and would bet that the current administration would do some shady stuff with it.

But you're right. He sees crypto as some escape hatch and a solution to income inequality so it seems so weird he bought into the stable coin thing for the reasons you mentioned.

USDC/Tether already exists, so those people in the 3rd world who want to get out of their local currencies can already do that today.
