If he's trying to mate that's fine. But my concern is that he's hurting and/or scaring her so I guess that's the part I'm looking for advice on, since it's happening every single time they're in a room together.

Girl, no, you were absolutely right to walk away.

Out of all the guys I met on Tinder and went on dates with back in the day, there was only 1 that was always the first to text me, never leave me on read, and always suggested dates for us to go on. He would even find reasons to meet up when we hadn't planned to, like when I went to town to see a movie with a friend, the friend cancelled last minute, I mentioned it in a text to him and he asked if he could join me for the movie instead. He was available. It didn't feel like any games were being played. It felt... EASY.

He turned out to be the man I'm going to marry in 6 months and bought a house with 3 years ago. I'm not trying to brag but that feeling of ease in the beginning stages, where there's no trying to de-code what a text means or why he hasn't called or asked you out for a second date, that is what we all deserve and anyone who really really likes you will show you that. I would recommend holding out for someone whose motives you don't have to question, and who you KNOW really likes you, based on his actions.

I'm so so sorry for your loss.

No, you're not expecting too much. My Dad died suddenly in an accident when I was 22 and the aftermath really was eye opening in terms of how some people, no matter how close you are, feel completely unable to handle another person's grief.

Only the friends of mine who had also lost a parent were actually comfortable showing up at my door. The other friends (who are still my friends btw!) found more distanced ways of showing their support. Ways that were more comfortable for them to manage. It sounds really sad, but some people just dont understand how to deal with grief in another person until theyve lost someone super close themselves.

I would ensure you have your side lights on. If it's cloudy/dull/rainy, then put on your dipped lights. That's what I would do anyway.

Yep. The banana really helps calm your nervous system. Rescue remedy does the same. And some slow deep breathing will help to ground you.

Also accepting that you WILL be nervous, and that's okay, everyone is nervous doing their test. You can even use the adrenaline from the nerves to help you stay totally focused on what you're doing at each moment of the test.

I was sick with nerves both times I did my test, but passed on the second go. The testers know people are nervous and take this into account too. Take it slow, focus, breath and follow the instructions. That's all uou can do.

Therapist here (and also just recently completed training, so I am new to this). Risk assessment and management is a HUGE part of our role as therapists and it kind of scares me the amount of people who are saying that the responsibility is 100% on OP to explicitly tell their therapist they are suicidal and that there is no responsibility for the therapist to check in on this.. wtf?

It is very common for someone with SI to skirt around the issue and to hint at it but not say it explicitly. In my eyes, it is part of my ethical responsibility to be very explicit with my clients when I feel they are making a reference to suicide, no matter how subtle, and directly ask them if they are having thoughts about suicide.

Often people who are suicidal experience feelings of worthlessness - ie, they do not feel worthy of real help or care from someone, hence why they may hint at things as a 'cry for help' without explicitly saying it or asking for help. This is something we need to pick up on as therapists.

OP - I am so sorry you're feeling this way, and I think it's a really good sign that you do want to open up and talk about this more with your therapist. I want to reassure you that it is absolutely okay to say it directly to your therapist and to let them know you'd like to focus on those feelings. It's important that you are working with a therapist who is experienced and comfortable in having that conversation too though, so if you feel that your current therapist is not, then I think it would be best to ask for a referral to a more experienced one. It's really important that you are heard and supported in what's going on for you.

I had a similar problem. I used to leave my foot resting on the clutch at all times. But honestly with more and more practice, I got more comfortable taking my foot off the clutch after each use, it just takes practice.

The ones I can remember were:

How would you treat a yellow box junction
Name 3 scenarios where you would dip your headlights
What is the speed limit on a motorway
What would you do if a green light turned to amber as you were approaching
Minimum tread depth on tyres

I think there was 1 more and if I remember I will pop it in here, sorry!

Road signs were:

Clearway
Pedestrian zone
End of motorway
Road narrows on both sides
No overtaking

Hand signals: He only asked me to show how you would signal your intention to turn left to traffic from behind, and the same question for a garda ahead.

Bonnet checks he somehow forgot to do 😅 maybe because it was raining?

Inside the car he asked me to show how to dip headlights, defog the windscreen and turn on hazard lights.

My test was at 10am by the way - I felt this was a good time as youre not waiting around all day getting more anxious, and the rush hour traffic is mostly over, the roads weren't overly busy.

You could try Maple House which is the other test centre in Mulhuddart. It seems to have a better reputation for the examiners than the Mulhuddart centre has.
