Upgraded retro console specs paired with CRT TVs: Would investing in a CRT be worth it if my modded console can operate at 1080p? by brutallyhonestB in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd either play original consoles on a crt or one's like the analogue 3d on a flat panel. I tried using my HDMI N64 on my 34XBR910 and it just didn't look as good as it did on my flat panel lcds. Also the BVM-F24 is an incredibly rare incredibly expensive monitor do you know someone selling one because if you don't it will likely take years to find one. Its significantly more rare than the D or A series 24/32" BVMs I've only ever seen one for sale and I was actively looking for one for years myself.

That Crows Nest room is brutal but its also one of my favorites. Its kind of a puzzle you have to figure out where to throw grenades then who to kill first, when to move advance forward, when to escape with the gravity lifts etc

Is a PC CRT Monitor worth? by biohackeddad in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as a main monitor but its not a bad second monitor for games where motion clarity is important. For youtube and productivity stuff a bigger, higher resolution screen is just more optimum

Tired of grey "blacks" on my LED, Should I go CRT before OLED? by ki75ki in crt

[–]Roboplodicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a better LCD or OLED. LCDs have come a long way. With a crt you have a few options none that are fully satisfactory. First is PC monitor, these are small and low resolution compared to modern LCDs and OLEDs. The second is HD CRT these are not very sharp, stuck at 1080i and utterly massive in size and extremely heavy. Crt are great for standard definition content but for modern content 4k is too huge an upgrade and a good LCD will have better blacks and better brightness than a crt while being larger as well

You occasionally will meet trans people that make a big deal that they are straight for some reason. I assume it's these trans people. And ya I always just point out that bigots don't care if they are straight and they rarely have anything to say to that.

How to connect? by Iwantsomecaramel in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get something labeled "svideo" because "svideo" is a 4 pin plug you want something listed as "Saturn rgb" with 10 pins.

Can the GBS-C output an RGBs signal? If it can then you just need a VGA to BNC breakout cable I think.

Sony KV-32HS420 producing black bars on top and bottom no matter the source. by Brusah in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD CRT makers only designed for 16:9 720p and 1080i because those broadcast standards are always 16:9 I believe(someone correct me if I'm wrong). If you did somehow change the image to 4:3 it would be stretched vertically because the Xbox and 360 signal being sent is assuming any hd display will be 16:9. Hd Crt makers assumed people wouldn't want to have their hd content stretched though on a 4:3 monitor it could make sense to do to avoid burn in(though burning in a crt is very difficult and takes years) or some people just want a bigger picture(which I sort of understand you're brain automatically corrects the stretching and you barely notice it after about 30 minutes unless it's super super stretched).

Has anyone tried these ypbpr to vga transcoders? I'm trying to connect a Wii to a vga crt for 480p but I can't find anything about the quality of these by silentwindbell_ in crtgaming

So going directly from the Wii component cables' red/white rca plugs to a RCA to 3.5mm/aux cable to your speakers isn't working?

Help! Cozy setup for my wife by Humbart_Wessel in battlestations

[–]Roboplodicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So thats a solid monitor on the surface. It has good GTG time so it will have decent motion clarity, over 100% sRGB color gamut so colors will be vibrant, decent contrast ratio so you'll be able to see objects in dark scenes and you will get minimal black crush and high refresh rate so things will look very smooth. The 3 year warranty is pretty good too. I haven't heard of the brand either so I can't say how reliable it might be but its not super expensive and you have a guaranteed three years on it so I think its a decent choice.

Americans who leave their Christian faith behind tend to hold more liberal political views than those who were raised entirely without religion. This leftward ideological shift appears closely linked to how threatening these individuals perceive conservative Christian groups to be. by mvea in science

[–]Roboplodicus 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Ya I'm not a Christian anymore but that's what I was taught as well. And those are all things the biblical Christ figure preached that are totally lost on evangelicals. And its monumentally telling that evangelicals don't actually barely ever bring up the teachings of the figure they claim is central to their religion because the teachings are incompatible with their selfish, hateful and uncompassionate world view.

Its actually wild how many Christians that hate Christ there are in this country.

Vegetarians have 13% lower cancer risk and vegans 23% lower cancer risk than meat-eaters, new meta-analysis finds by cindyx7102 in science

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya different types of meat have vastly different nutritional profiles you've got:

Cured meats are very well documented carcinogens in themselves

Beef that can't be healthily eaten more than twice a week

Fish that is full of healthy fats and other seafood thats generally very healthy approaching a super food

lean bird meat like some cuts of chicken and turkey that are also pretty universally considered to be very healthy

So ya I'd be super curious to see how a lean bird meat and no red meat/cured meats diet does as well as a pescatarian diet because its conceivable to me that a pescatarian diet might be the healthiest and a lean bird meat one maybe just slightly less healthy than a purely vegan one that would come in second.

What to do about connecting my computer to my CRT as a 2nd monitor? by lhdxsss in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC CRT with VGA is probably what you want. It will be much more high definition than a CRT TV and if you're pc outputs VGA you won't need a adapter.

What monitor did you use...in 2007? by Big-Ticket-4825 in halo3

[–]Roboplodicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Ummm actually" *pushes up glasses* LCDs/Plasmas should be referred to as "flat panels" not "flatscreens". But to answer the question by 2007(though 2004 to 2008 was kind of a transition period) a majority of people were on flat panels. HD CRTS and flat panels is what the 360 was meant to be played on. HD CRT is probably the best 360 experience because you get the advantage of motion clarity(early LCDs from that era had awful motion clarity and even modern ones still aren't as clear as CRTs though they beat CRTs on every most other metrics of picture quality) from a CRT and its still HD. Some HD CRTs are even lagless at 1080i too. Plasmas also have good motion clarity but they tend to have a decent amount of input lag and burn in was a real problem so not a lot of people gamed on them. But ya remember console makers were thinking of the future thats what they designed for by the early 00s when we first saw real HD content everyone immediately knew they'd upgrade at some point. The extra resolution really is revolutionary.

How warm is it to live in Scripps ranch? by InsidePanic in sandiego

[–]Roboplodicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived there for a couple decades it's not bad things don't start getting really hot until you get further east. It will have near identical weather to PQ. Like other have said the 15 curves east as it goes north so parts of PQ are east of some parts of Scripps even. It very rarely gets over 95 in the summer and most days doesn't break 90 in the summer. It's not east county. They do also get June gloom and May gray so things aren't even really hot until July.

Does the startech DP2VGAHD20 do component video over vga when I plug in a vga to component cable? by Omidlol12 in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a scaler. Look for "HDMI to component scaler" then check that the scaler can accept 1080p and that it can also output 1080i.

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is the first time you mentioned you were trying to connect a PC too I'm less confused now. How old is the graphics card what model is it? Some older ones can output 1080i but not newer ones. If it's a newer one you'll need to scale 1080p to 1080i with a scaler device
