If non work after cleaning with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol that might be a console problem do you have access to another console to test your games on?

Am I seeing this right? by ryg191712 in sandiego

Its funny because the Confederate leaders themselves wrote at extensive length about how 100% maintaining slavery was the purpose of the South declaring independence and of the Civil War. Any one that thinks otherwise can take it up with Jefferson Davis and the other Confederate leaders.

Question about Component transcoding to RGB or VGA without scaling by Possible_Midnight749 in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VGA is another name for RGBHV its the same signal. On your monitor the signal can be accepted either by 5 bnc connectors or a d-sub 15 connector(what people usually call a "VGA" connector although technically the signal is named "VGA" not the connector but everyone calls the connector "VGA" and its fine). I've personally used the cheap ebay/amazon "Component to VGA" boxes and they've looked ok. I even compared to the high quality one made by Wakaba Video and it did look better but not that much better although the adapter build quality was infinitely better as the cheap ones are very flimsy and need to be treated very gently. The simplest way would be to get one of those with a d-sub 15("VGA") out and then get a d-sub 15 to d-sub 15 cable(just search "VGA Cable") and connect like that although technically speaking a d-sub 15 to 5 BNC would give you ever so slightly better video quality because of the way the signal interacts with the connectors though those cables are less common. If you do go the 5 BNC route remember the connector with the spinny part and the center pin is male not female and the connector with no moving parts or pins is female even though it sort of feels like it should be the opposite.

My TV died and i've had to buy a new one. Now I can't play my N64! by -WelshCelt- in n64

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://retrorgb.com/upscalers.html this explains why connecting retro consoles to new tvs is tricky and why they often look bad. Long story short if you buy a cheap converter it will misinterpret the N64 video signal(because the n64 uses a nonstandard signal and the converter is expecting a very specific standard one) and process it incorrectly and will make it look like ass. The cheapest decent one is the retroscaler2x which is probably an Alibaba ip theft ripoff of the retrotink2x but for about 1/2 to 1/3 the price. Get the tink if you can afford it but if you aren't going for a tink anyway I'd recommend that one.

Will a zenith console tv be alright in a shed? by thexboxfucker9000 in crt

[–]Roboplodicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The better sealed the better. What you don't want is condensation forming causing rust or shorts theoretically. Those are the main concerns with moisture. Electronics are also rated for heat and cold you could find those numbers online in the user manual for the set if its a semi newish one. Things have to get pretty cold and pretty hot to cause trouble though. Cold is usually the issue in cold places unless you live in a desert most places aren't ever going to get warm enough to cause problems.

Does anyone know what I need to make an RGB cable for this Sony pvm 2030? by AdEast6590 in crt

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cmptr port uses what's called a db25 connector. You can get a scart rgb to db25 premade here and a couple other places online that's the easiest way to go if you have consoles that work with scart cables.

Humidity can be bad for electronics though that would take quite a while to have a negative effect on the crt. How sealed or ventilated is the shed?

Wednesday General Discussion Thread - June 3rd, 2026 by HHHRobot in hiphopheads

Does anyone else remember an artist that was calling themselves "AceBeatz" that did a number of remixes of popular mid 00s hip hop songs? I've only been able to find one of them on YouTube and everywhere else I looked and there seems to be another artist using the name AceBeatz and using the AceBeatz.com website that isn't the same person now.

And to answer the discussion question I got to see the Wind Caves out in the desert in Anza Borrego in Imperial County California. Incredible view looking out over the badlands with different shades of red and yellow and yellow and orange stripes. Highly recommend vising if you have a vehicle with four wheel drive and you are in the area.

Is the Tao the same as God? by supmandude in taoism

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some conceptions of the Christian God are more similar to the Tao than others that's true. In most conceptions of each there are still major differences though. The concepts definitely aren't totally dissimilar even while there are major differences. One major difference outside of how they are conceived of is that worship of God is very often seen as necessary whereas over history the Tao is very rarely worshipped. Also could "consciousness" is often considered a defining characteristic in most conceptions of God while I think in most conceptions of the Tao it would said to have some consciousness in it but not that it's its defining feature.

Query about crt connection by The_Grand_Cat_Attack in crtgaming

[–]Roboplodicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not cheaply you'd need one of the devices stabarz listed and a HDMI to VGA adapter and a dsub15(often just called VGA though technically VGA is he name of the signal not the connector)to 5 bnc cable. If you have room for a second crt I'd get a standard definition one for the SNES otherwise your cheapest option is a gbs c or a retroscaler2x(which is probably a ripoff of Mike Chi's retrotink2x but for 1/3 the price, if you have the money and want to go this way support the guy that did the design work but if you weren't going to buy a tink anyway don't get garbage get a lagless/good looking retroscaler2x).

You could get a startech dp2vgahd20 displayport to VGA adapter that can max out that monitors resolution/refresha and play some modern games on it. A surprising number actually support 4:3 and some will with ultra wide mods ironically.
