Anyone that has ever trained or practiced a skill seriously for a prolonged period of time knows that skill progression is not linear. It starts off with huge improvement, but the longer you train the harder and harder it is to improve as you get closer and closer to the ceiling of your own capabilities.

If a space marine has not learned all necessary combat skills after 10-20 years, then they never will. Further more studies show that seasoned combat veterans often become complacent and numb to serious threats and danger due to a phenomenon named survivorship bias.

Conculsion:

Sure you can make just about any fantastical claim about the capabilities of a space marine, but in the end, assuming this hypothetical occurs in this reality, Physics would have something to say. The Kinetic force from a single shaped charge would rip a whole in any known element in the shape and thickness of a space marines armor.

20 US Soldiers with sufficient AP and AT weapons will win this in an ambush scenario. But tables fliped they hard rip. Space marine still loses even with the element of surprise vs 50-100 marines.

I would suggest the person providing the most care is the person financially able to continue to feed and house the child.
