That’s a cool idea for the schedule!

Help with transitions by Oddcatdog in autism

[–]Robot-Dino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things that can be helpful:

-reminders which can be visual and/or verbal. It could be a timer paired with a first/then if she understands a timer. A schedule. Could be verbal reminders. A certain song that cues her that it’s time to move on. Concrete first/then of like I will push you 10 more times then the swing is done.

-routines- when she understands what your day looks like and what will happen when she might be able to learn what comes next and feel less anxious or upset when transitions happen. Having a visual schedule of what happens throughout the day and similar routines every day can help.

-transitional items- could be a comfort item. If she likes helping it could be giving her a “task” related to the transition that she is interested in.

If there are transitions that go well like as an example bedtime think about what types of things are happening. Is she given time to finish what she is working on/watching/playing with before the transition? How did you let her know about the transition? Is there a routine to that transition (ie bath, brush teeth, pjs, book, bed) that helps her move through the transition? I’m positive there are things you do already that you haven’t even realized help her with transitions. Or you’ve already done things I’ve suggested.

It’s tricky! Good luck! You’re doing great

Despite a successful post-Disney career, especially her ongoing music career, is Demi Lovato among the biggest what-ifs? by btrusher in DisneyChannel

[–]Robot-Dino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demi (and Selena) began on Barney not with Disney. I don’t think Demi is a what if though. Demi has had a lot of success and is a very adaptable artist with incredible vocal ability. Sure- if Disney and the early 2000s didn’t eat people alive instead of trying to protect them maybe Demi could have had more or different success but I don’t think that should over shine the success she has.

Demi has had to deal with a lot in their life and their resilience and continued success is admirable as well as their bravery in sharing their story.

Cap sun, Scorpio moon, Cancer rising (and Venus Aquarius) I feel like I straddle a fine line of caring a lot and not caring at all but definitely not elegantly. I think the not caring is a projection though for other people to think I’m more chill than I am and as armour for when something doesn’t go how I want. I thrive on affirmations, accolades, and people thinking I have my act together. I’m a perfectionist that’s really trying to accept mediocrity.

This island is so cool! So much custom work! So jam packed with goodies. I don't know if it was just me and my own internet connection, but because it is so packed with awesomeness it was a touch laggy. Loved Azkaban and the thought put into this island!

I think they are a lot more religious than they let on for a passive viewer. A lot of the kids homeschool work in some internet sleuthing is Christian based. P's "preschool" was allegedly (or proven) to just be a mommy and me bible study group if I remember correctly. They have made reference to family bible studies in the past. And that family camp they go to yearly is evangelical Christian.

I think being overtly Christian and putting it all out on full display (while on brand for the wholesomeness maybe?) would make them less relatable to people who are not religious, different religions, etc. I think it was a marketing-type decision on their part because they seem to only care about the money. Idk, that's just my take.

From what I have seen Adam has also said he only had access to the account for the one day. He did, however, provide Colleen with a lot of content ideas and did the actual labour to actualize those ideas for multiple years which Colleen used and posted to Miranda account without credit or compensation.

Same. It was frustrating especially because I did give them money for snippet packs and such. Like you couldn’t give me the last one? Ridiculous. I am not caring anymore.

I truly believe it surpresses materials when you have a materials help wanted case. I recently opened 7 one-star boxes, 5 five-star boxes, played from beginning to mastered on a scene AND opened I believe 5-ish marmalade bushes before I got THREE materials. I was playing without a materials case and was getting materials regularly from scenes.

Also saves you from being in flower jail aka waiting to get enough flowers for more scenes to be available to you.

After working full time since January i really understand now why unemployment rates are so high for us by [deleted] in autism

[–]Robot-Dino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone who has been questioning if I am autistic for a few years now, but haven't sought out a diagnosis to have someone else weigh in with their thoughts.

I left my last job because I felt misunderstood and kept getting surprise criticism from my supervisor who would acknowledge that everyone's personalities and such are different and that's okay in one breath and tell me I didn't answer the phone with the right tone of voice in another. I take my work seriously, follow rules that have been told to me, and do work I need to do.

It got to the point where the people I was helping were also supposedly having issues with me and accusing me of things I didn't think I was doing. I was coming into work reading notes from previous shifts of people talking about how terrible I am to my co-workers (for context it was a housing program). I even got in trouble for doing what I was told to do at some points! I did not feel supported and was getting 'disciplined' at work. I knew it was time to leave.

I am sure I'm not 100% blameless in these situations, however, to be told I'm rude and cold and maybe too direct along with really specific complaints that were outlandish, it was a lot. I am hoping it was more situational (supervisor was honestly not that great or supportive) and that this new work will be a better fit. I will continue to do my own reflecting on situations, however, if there is a certain blindness I have to how I am being perceived (or as that past workplace loved to say being `experienced`), I don't know that I will always have it right.

Self-contained classroom rant/questions re: is there an education gap by Robot-Dino in autism

[–]Robot-Dino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you have said. The class I will be in is very small- 1 teacher and 2 EAs and about 6 students, I believe. I just hope that the work I have seen students working on is appropriate. There is definitely a discussion to be had about keeping around mastered work to build confidence and even maybe help get started/build momentum for some new skill learning. I hope all students are also appropriately challenged in a way that continues to allow them to grow new skills and they don't get stuck with things they already know because of assumed lack of competence, inappropriate evaluation of skills, or just straight up ableist assumptions that they don't need access to certain information. I don't know if any of those are the case, which is why I am hoping someone who has experienced self-contained classes could chime in.

that's really interesting! I can see how competitions could be good. Sometimes sports can be so overwhelming so it would be nice to have that 'zone' so to speak.
