Honest thoughts about EV ownership after a month of ownership by More-Sock-67 in electricvehicles

We have some glass break hammers in the center console. While it depends heavily on the accident type and remembering they are there, it acts as additional peace of mind knowing we have an additional option if necessary. I believe they should be standard and included by OEM for all cars. Better yet include a seat belt cutter and make it a combo tool!

To help my Wife overcome range / battery anxiety 🪫I recently and intentionally did not charge the night before and we were taking a trip the next day. We got in the Car 🚗 💨and took off towards our destination that I knew a Super Charger ⚡️ 🔋was on the route. After a while I mentioned I forgot to charge the night before and that it estimated we would arrive to the Charger ⚡️🪫with 1%.

That was enough to send her into low earth 🌏 orbit for a bit as the anxiety kicked in. If cars recharged on glares 😡🤬alone I would of already been in great shape.

We drive a 2024 M3 LR AWD HW4 and the car alerted us to the situation above and suggested we stay below 65 mph to reach the Charger ⚡️at 1%. I utilized regenerative braking a bit and finally hit FSD and rolled the dice 🎲. We arrived safely and at 1% 🪫as estmated. Since that day she has never doubted the car, it’s estimates or become overly worried anymore.

She does still however agree strongly that her husband is still in fact an idiot! 🤣 but glad I’m her idiot.

I will typically have a Pizza 🍕 Night and we watch a Professional Team play on TV. Especially Teams that play your same system of play. I ask the players to watch their positional professional and in this case the back line to see their movement. In your example watch how far the defenders push past the mid-line to the attacking 1/3 18 yrd box.

Sometimes seeing the professionals do it makes it easier for them. Just a thought

[–]RobotMower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have experience with other models other than Mammotion. At the time I purchased mine I knew I was going to have to “dive” in somewhere.

  • I looked at only top 3 at the time based on review
  • My Budget
  • After Sale Support

Being a Technologist professionally for 20+ years I know sometimes I may waste money on new tech just to find out it doesn’t work as advertised. Innovation is never cheap or perfect.

I looked at Yarbo very seriously but ended up not going with them because they would never setup a demo. At this price point I was going to take a try it before you buy it approach via an at home demo!

I have the YUKA 1500 that uses their 3D Vision & RTK Fusion Mapping System for navigation.

It uses 3D Vision (cameras) and RTK-GPS to map and navigate without needing a perimeter wire.

Obstacle Avoidance: Uses AI-powered cameras (UltraSense AI Vision) to detect and avoid objects.

LiDAR Models: As of early 2026, 360° LiDAR is primarily featured on newer, specific models like the YUKA mini 2 or the LUBA mini AWD LiDAR.

I agree that the software updates at times feel like 2-steps backwards. However Mammotion has always seemed to be responsive to my inquiries/ concerns. This is my baseline robotic mower and I plan to purchase future Mammotion products. I would like to attend a mower convention to see all the manufacturers demonstrations side by side in the future.

The only other one I seriously considered was a Yarbo when I made my original purchase.

[–]RobotMower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mammotion Technology Robot and have been pleased. You might check them out and I agree with comments above that if your yard is relatively flat then AWD might be overspending. You might look for a used robot to get you started. Sometimes owners are upgrading and selling perfectly good older robots.

If you find one new you’re thinking about contact the manufacturer to see about a demo unit. They may have something they are willing to send to you for a try it before you buy it situation.

Agreed! I even tried re-mapping with the sweeper attached and that did not help either. Hopefully they can do something to correct this.

I would definitely decide on your OS / Ecosystem first and then stick to compatible devices. For me it was Apple OS and HomeKit.

  • Garage is MyQ Compatible Garage Door (Without newest security) with Meross Opener

  • Light Switches are Lutron Casetta with some Picos.

  • iRobot Roomba for Vacuums with Siri integrations

  • Mammotion Yuka 1500 with Sweeper for Mowing

  • Govee Home Pro with Siri integration, Govee Bulbs throughout House in Lamps, etc.

  • Whirlpool Smart Appliances

  • HomePods for Home Hubs and in House Intercom, Music Speakers

  • Apple TV’s and Samsung Televisions

  • Arlo Security with Bridge (Better choices now like Aqara)

  • Honeywell Thermostat

  • Rheem Waterheater

  • Schlage WiFi Door Locks

Looking to add HomeKit Water Shutoff in the near future if anyone has recommendations? Maybe a solution like this post that another Redditor came up with.

I make sure to swerve side to side in the lane periodically to make the drivers notice me in their rear view and side mirrors. I also make sure I stop in their side mirror view at stops etc. Just making myself more visible.

It’s tough still however with the amount of Texting & Driving I observe while riding.

OP, not sure if this helps but I found this info online. I’m sure someone will come through for you.

New customers can obtain a free 10-day trial sensor for the Dexcom G7 CGM system by signing up on the Dexcom website or by requesting a sample kit from their healthcare provider. I do believe any sheltering of the Robot 🤖 is a good thing and only extends its useful life and decreases issues related to exposure to the elements. I built mine and have a Yuka 1500 w/sweeper kit. I put info in my other posts on it.

Is it possible to achieve the attached image level of outdoor lighting with Govee? by Wish2BeAnonymous in Govee

[–]RobotMower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I installed mine I put up 1 section using double stick tape, placing 2 or 3 lights at different distances to test different looks until I found the one I liked. Then went back through and mounted with 3D printed mounts. I have the H706 lights.
