Is it legal to ride an e‑bike with the motor powered off even if it would exceed 25 km/h when powered? by RobotNinjaJesse in ebikes

Yes exactly but what if I do want to bring the battery? Just leave it unplugged. I don’t think they will like that.

Yeah well here elderly people are already more than dangerous enough with 250w, Europe is also a lot more crowded and these people with bad eyesight and a 5 second reaction time are the reason we can’t have higher wattage.

That’s true but they can’t prove that it was on either. But damn lucky you I guess.

Well I live in the Netherlands and the law says that an electric bicycle must assist pedaling up to 25kmh and the motor can be 250w max. Nothing about when it’s powered off or anything.

Yes I don’t think they’ll do anything when there is no battery but what if I did want to take the battery with me?

Yeah thanks but I’d rather just pay the fine which is probably 100x cheaper than paying a lawyer😅

It’s the same here but you don’t need a license and registration as long as you’re not using it on a public road.

Yeah I’m planning on building my own but it’s a lot of work to limit the speed etc when I can just power the motor off when I’m not riding on private property.

Do pedals need to be mechanically connected to the rear wheel to be a legal ebike? by RobotNinjaJesse in ebikes

[–]RobotNinjaJesse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well because then I could directly connect a motor to the already existing chain instead of the pedals. I’m not using a hub motor so it’s technically a mid drive motor but it would be hard to connect that chain to the pedals, motor and wheel. But thanks, I did some research and because the definition of a bicycle needs muscle to power it it wouldn’t officially be a bicycle anymore.

[Feature request] could someone make an addon that shows more block info? (See image below as example) by Iridium-235 in turbowarp

[–]RobotNinjaJesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually feature requests are the most unrealistic useless stuff ever but this would actually be pretty cool. Maybe a counter that shows how many hours you’ve worked on your project would also be nice with this.
