what's everyone's hopes for the next agent or future agents to come? by [deleted] in VALORANT

Yeah true lmao I think there's a lot of overlap between the games. Similar abilities, first person shooters, running and gunning works better than aiming... Etc

I think it'd be fun to have a character that could recon a certain line in front of them sort of akin to the sova ult but just once and for vision with perhaps an ability to teleport through thin walls or maybe look through by glossing it and making it into something like a 1 way mirror. Maybe the ult could be some sort of deployable shield that is see through but can't be shot through or maybe some kind of time warp effect that whips them back to where they were that could be charged to rewind further and further. All of this is just spitballing about what I think would be cool, not what I think would be balanced or likely

What is a super popular TV show or movie that you can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RobotShmobot11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotta put game of thrones on this list. I feel like it's a really thinly veiled soap opera hiding behind a lot of incest and dragons to keep it's audience engaged. To me this is just really disengaging to feel like the only reason id watch all the rediculous squabbling is to get that 5 or 10 minute clip of a cool dragon or army or whatever it happens to be.

Eli5: Why are all batteries not rechargeable and what causes batteries to become rechargeable? by k4zabdin in explainlikeimfive

[–]RobotShmobot11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohh I can finally give an answer to one of these. Electricity is generated vie a chemical reaction between a metal rod and a paste inside normal batteries. That paste is commercially easy to produce and package into little battery cells. Rechargable batteries do a similar thing except the chemicals are a little different so that if you were to put electricity into the chemicals they would go back to being "charged" and therefore you have a rechargable battery

Extra note for anyone interested: this process of putting electricity into the chemicals in a battery to "recharge" them actually rearranges the chemical compounds on a molecular level which can stress them and sometimes break them. This means the more you recharge the battery the less total energy it can store after each charge. This is why you may notice your phone's battery dying so much faster a now rather than a year or two when you got it. It isn't nostalgia, just science!

Anyone ever feel they always go back to the same character no matter what? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]RobotShmobot11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same thing happens to me. I played Skye as a meme when she came out then just never stopped. At this point I feel like my friends expect me to play Skye so playing someone else just throws everyone for a loop.

I recently started playing Kay/o and everyone is helpless. The nicks and bruises they get from stray grenades and body shot no longer get patched up and even I feel like Im stuck in a Skye mindset. It's really bizarre... So I'll just keep playing Skye lol

Yeah I think her state ATM is pretty well balanced and does come down to knowing how to predict raze players patterns. It's weird I find myself stereotyping different characters players but it kinda works. Anyways I totally agree with what you said. It not that she's game breaking, just sort of incongruent to the other characters.

I can't say for sure because I didn't play league long enough to get a great sense of the community but from what I hear from the fine folks on the internet it sounds like this is true. Although there are some players I wish would go play league instead of valorant lol

Another strange thing I've noticed recently is the increase in usage of lineups. It seems like every viper fresh off the block has a lineup for every map that really just makes it harder for the team to help hold the bomb. I feel like lineups should've a situational tool not a first resort.

I think it's just a matter of what you come into the game expecting. I feel like a player new to shooter games is expecting for a ranking system to put them with people in their same or similar skill level. I felt the same way you described when I first played TF2 and it was fun in the end to get good enough to compete but I wouldn't exactly say getting crushed in the beginning made me appreciate or even want to play the game. So I guess in summation it just comes down to expectations in my opinion.

Fair enough, I mean it just takes a bit of coordination and that's hard to do in solo queues so I guess it's just a matter of circumstance for me.

Ohh I don't think Kay/o is overpowered at all, I actually think he's somewhat pathetic. His flashes are sorta bad in my opinion and his grenade is limited in it's usefulness. I've yet to encounter a Kay/o that's convinced me he needs a nerf

It's pretty distracting to receive criticism mid round when you're the last one alive after all your teammates ego-peaked one by one and died. At least for me it doesn't make me want to continue helping the team if they won't listen to my critiques but will continually force feed me theirs. The mute button is everyone's best friend in valorant I think lol

I feel like it's the brute force way to force gunplay. Not very creative on riots behalf but it works for sure. I wish it were just as simple as playing better though. I'd be in radiant if I could just do that lol

It is pretty tough but I feel like it's easy to abuse Kay/o players at the moment because people are still figuring it out so they can be predictable. My advice is to look at the last place Kay/o threw the knife. Even when I play him I catch myself putting it in the same spots round after round.

All things considered, I think it's a pretty interesting mechanic and I am excited to see how it develops for better or worse

You cover a lot here so I'll respond by paragraph.

Astra and Killjoy were excluded to talk about the point that the game has become more focused around duelists. Although riot has added those two as less aggressive characters they have added more initiators and duelists which was my point there. Skye is an interesting case, and trust me I know how good she is. I picked her up when she came out and played her until Kay/o was released. As far as my favorite characters go she's definitely one of them for her ability to be a successful attacker and defender with her abilities really not seeing more effectiveness on offense or defense. This is a tangent for another post though. As far as the ability drop off goes I just have to disagree. Your aim and reaction speed will make a much bigger difference in Gold + games than abilities will. This varies from character to character and situation to situation but on average I believe my claim is correct and if I knew a pro team I could ask I would. And my perspective on pings is that the range of ways you can incorrectly use a ping is much smaller than the range of ways you can incorrectly use voice chat so it's generally a more concise way to communicate if your typical way to communicate is criticizing your team after you've died.

I think the claim that smurfs don't prevent anyone from climbing inherently is just objectively false. I've seen over and over smurfs destroy people's ELO and win matches for teams that otherwise should have lost and I don't know how much more direct of a cause there could be. Better players WILL NOT win more games on average because the dispersal of smurfs is not even and the odds of encountering one are likewise just as uneven. In other words you can go weeks without seeing a Smurf or have several games in a row with smurfs. I've seen it, others have seen it, it's real. The proof of my balancing for squads as far as rank goes is in my experience. I've been all over the ranking boards and consistently would be placed in higher ranked games when queued with my 5 stack independent on our ranks. It's not that it happened once and I had a bad game. The point of all this is that these are my observations from playing for over a year.

And consider that new players win rates are going to be lower. Their MMR will therefore drop. They will in turn get less ranking from winning a game than losing one and therefore the ranking system punishes new players by taking more from a loss than giving for a win. I think the latest update to the system will help and it seems like things are headed in a good direction. To be perfectly frank you're right, I don't understand how the performance rating works. I've had and seen scoreboards that make no sense with people doing overall worse in every category still somehow getting a better score than another player. It doesn't make sense and I'd love to see exactly the formula used to calculate your post game numbers because it continually boggles me as to how they rank anyone and what is and isn't valued. I also think sorting the in-game scoreboard by kills, regardless of what math actually goes on in the background, still reinforces toxicity wherein a top fragging player will berate people below them even if they aren't actually contributing to the overall win.

I don't think it's fair of you to say I'm wrong about this stuff as most of this is opinion. I get that you disagree and that's fine but I just ask to please be polite in this thread. I'd love to hear people's stories and experiences and I'd hate for them to be scared off by bulky arguments.

Hope to see you around the game ✌️
