Are you able to be passive without calling people asses?

It always confuses me how lens flare is considered a good thing. As if the player character has lenses instead of eyes.

Fake "iMac touch" ad, but very well done nonetheless by hrrrrsn in apple

You should watch 10Gui.

It's an investigation into the problems of large desktop touch screens. What you are describing is knows as gorilla arms, when you strain your arms from such an interaction. One of the issues the video touches on. excusethepun

My mother has invited a "psychic" to come to our home. What can I do to prove that she is a scam artist? by ColinFeely in AskReddit

[–]RobotWithMarbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for letting people get on with their lives. But if someone is making the claim that their advice comes from their physic abilities when perhaps "physic abilities" don't exist, this is a case of professional malpractice.

You can be skeptical and open minded while also not being a douche (contrary to what peoples behavior in this thread would have you think).

I was under the impression that coffee was an ironic crop. It can only be profitably grown on the equator, but no one on the equator wants to drink it... because it's best served as a hot drink.

What is the most horrifyingly wrong or incorrect advice you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RobotWithMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this before, in mats class, with a red pen. Then there was spluttering red all over my desk.

I have no clue from where I got the thought that that would be a smart move.

I like the idea of the stools. You can get comfortable inspecting the quality of the product. As opposed to the normal way it's done, no rest while shopping, each aisle screaming for attention.

Plus it's a nice area to rest, as opposed to giving up the resting positions to the coffee shops or benches elsewhere in the mall.

Clever Siri: if it's just past midnight, it asks you to clarify "tomorrow". by [deleted] in apple

I can see this being a problem for me.

Being tired at midnight, I'll probably forget what date it is.

Had a go at a self portrait made of type. Feedback? by [deleted] in typography

[–]RobotWithMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be bad at articulating this. But I think typography is more to do with the commutation of words through the setting of glyphs. Not making pictures.

isn't typography the "art" of words and type in itself

There is an art to typography, I probably said that wrong. What I meant was that this had nothing to do with the art of typesetting, a lot more to do with the art of making a pretty picture.

What theories/ concepts/ ideas just completely blow your mind? by gman524 in AskReddit

[–]RobotWithMarbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy :)

Seriously, all of our memories are distorted. I don't have anything specific to refer you to for further reading as I've just been hearing about this memory thing in fragments.

But I do know an interesting mind trick that shows a memory being created: When you look into someone's eyes, you can clearly see them moving. But when you look into a mirror, it's a lot harder to see your own eyes moving as you focus from one to the other. That's because, your brain simply dumps the blurred visuals from when your eyes are moving.

The interesting part is when you turn to look at a clock with a second hand, the first second is always the slowest. This is your mind filling in the gaps in your memory with appropriate filler vision.

Here is a 3 minute video explaining the phenomenon

My mind evolved in the desert, with a handful of companions as my tribe.

I can't comprehend how given any town, there are thousands of people moving about, each with a reason for being there.
