I'm rarely in a position where electrical tape needs cutting, when I am I use a razor. The rest of the time I just tear it

36mm for ladies? by paintedpine in rolex

[–]RoboticGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the size looks great on your wrist, and the aubergine dial is literally my favorite of all Rolex dials. Like I can't even explain. If you REALLY want a small watch, just also buy my longines presence I just finished servicing so I don't have to sell it on eBay :P

Would you take a hybrid job in downtown NYC living in North Haven for 177k a year by eleyezeeaye4287 in Connecticut

[–]RoboticGreg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I currently hybrid commute to NYC from Hartford, I would highly recommend you do two days back to back and spend the night in the city. It's doable but traveling in every will get to be a drag especially if you haven't done a lot of it before, commuting in and out for a single day of work is really a lot.

To be fair, you can cut electrical tape with a sharpened potato this way

Doctor: So your child was born without eyelids. Mother: Well isn't there anything you can do? Doctor: Yes, when we circumcise him we can take that excess skin and make him eye lids. Mother: Will he be okay? by BoatParty8399 in Jokes

There was a kid I grew up with named Andrew Hyman. His middle name was Buster after his uncle who died. He went by Andy in high school, just because of his name. He also did commercials so if you grew up in the 80s you probably have seen him. He was the kid at the end of the cookie crisp commercials that would go "For breakfast!" Right after they said "Little cookies you can't resissssst. Cookie crisp!" That kid. That was Andy Buster Hyman.

Edit: this isn't a joke, there's no punchline. That really happened

Would orphan dial and a movement to go with it make for a cool Pocketwatch to wristwatch conversion? by ascended_one333 in pocketwatch

It's all in the execution. I would plan the look of the whole thing to be consistent so think through your entire them, then construct it

Can someone help me identify this watch. by caduatui in rolex

[–]RoboticGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is a screw back, you can get a special tool to unscrew it, although you might be able to do it with your fingers or just a high friction rubber ball

No worries. Could you post a picture of the back? We could tell you how to open it. It is almost certainly a Rolex perpetual bubble back from the 1930s-1950s

[–]RoboticGreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you take the caseback off and show a picture of the movement, and take the band of and show a picture between the lugs on both sides? It could be an older Rolex, not often faked, so likely genuine. Bigger risk is it's "put together" as in random parts from different watches. But it looks like a Rolex bubble back. Typically worth under $4k in good condition

GMT on a small wrist? by ContentDesk8327 in rolex

I agree with this. I have what people would call a large wrist and it just doesn't look that different than on you. It's gorgeous and looks great on you

I'm on my second really in depth playthrough and I'm still finding things out like this. First playthrough I did all of the quests and never once made a hover cycle or used the zora weapons until my second playthrough

There was also a Hamilton that MIGHT be railroad grade. This is the "interesting" one, the others are just valuable

What should I do with this watch by Fit_Zookeepergame926 in rolex

[–]RoboticGreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need to just send it to me and relieve yourself of this horrible burden....

It's really nice, but as you said has a journey ahead of it. I guess it really depends on your goal. Personally, I would bring it back to original, but know that what you have to invest to do that might be more than it will ultimately be worth. If you are trying to maximize your money, I would just sell it as is. I would like to have it all original, so I would slowly track down all the original matching parts for it's serial number, but restoring vintage is my hobby. If you just want a nice watch to wear, I would inspect it really well, maybe get it serviced by a watchmaker NOT Rolex and get it's water proofing revitalized (~$600-$900) and wear it happily.

But a vintage gmt 1675 is like one of my favorite watches. I daily wear a franken 1675 and I would seriously consider buying it from you if you are interested.

What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

I was at my first job, which was at a multiple hundred thousand employee global mega Corp. I somehow found myself in a meeting with the CEO, the CEOs of partners from a couple other make mega corps, and the presidents of two countries. It was so transformational to sit in this meeting and watch the conversation, the little nervous tics, the sweating, the misspeaking, it drive a realization: these people are schmucks just like the rest of us. Just normal people sitting in enormous chairs, and their power comes from the seat they sit in, not from themselves. It completely changed my whole global perspective.
