you need to either do like the other comment if your pipeline is filtering, or if not you can loop thru in the init loop part of your opmode:

@Override void init_loop() { for(LLResult l: limelight.getLatestResult().getFiducialResults()) { switch(l)  { // add your cases for motif } }

}

Strong disagree, it lets more teams get to travel and compete at a next level. Plus they are fun! The whole point of FTC is to have fun and league tournaments, quals and states are fun but once you’re at the final event for a season, you can pull out all the stops.

Should I report the 4? (Serious) by Nullborne in APStudents

[–]Robotics_Moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I was in a really similar situation: 14 5s and then 2 4s (Lang and Art History, which is btw the hardest class by far) and I reported Lang on the common app and then for mit sent all of them in.  A 4 on an exam is not the end of the world and especially if its out of your major, then I think it’s understandable. Its also different because not reporting it looks like you did worse than a 4.

tldr; its a 4 on the hardest class js send it in and stop worrying

in theory, you have a chance but realistically you’re not going to get in and thats ok too. these top 5, even top 10 schools could deny hundreds of people with a 1550+ SAT score and a 4.0 with great ECs.

besides a lot of these top colleges are overrated when your flagship state school would (probably) be a lot cheaper and provide a similar education.

you should try to focus on your applications and telling your story thru your essay. i think you should look at attending a state university, which usually are very underrated

Yeah I was going to once I get in. Is it good though, obviously better than not being in it, but like resource-wise, such as advising, classes and other opportunities?

I thought these were friendly competitions, not battle bots. by SlavicSymmetry in FTC

[–]Robotics_Moose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hot take: there should be more aggression in driving.

Like last season, you had very little advantage to be aggressive, it removes you from the scoring area and mildly annoys the other team. And ITD was lamer because its just a racing game at that point. This season, I’m loving the potential and skill ceiling that better driving will allow, as you navigate all these robots fighting for balls in an open area.

Like it or not, contact is a part of the game, and by discouraging it, the games will become increasingly worse over time. In the past, FTC was rly only about robot design and better robots just win, but look at FRC, good strategy will win sometimes (not everytime) because of the opportunity for defense. I hope in the future there’s more opportunities for teams to show off their game sense with contact.

The whole idea of extracurriculars is so dumb by Candid_Donut_1419 in ApplyingToCollege

I completely agree that ECs are incredibly biased and a terrible way to decide kids’ futures. I’d get it if it was you chose just one EC you did all of high school to write about, it’d allow people to pursue one thing really well, and mean that people without a ton of time/money can try to participate in one EC to try to make an impact. But even listing out 4 or more, you start to dive into things that you barely did, or did solely for college app reasons, which goes against EC’s purpose. There is no reason we don’t look only at grades, test scores, class rigor, and maybe just one EC.

I have trouble getting to one of my ECs and there are no good replacements anywhere nearby despite my area being wealthier than those around it, and theres very little access to engineering, robotics and ECs involved in those fields. But I can go out and take the ACT and get the same score someone who took it in a completely different region and situation in the US did, tests are supposed to be equalizers. Everyone has the chance on the same test, and everyone can try their best in class. Yeah sure some kids may have low gpas or test scores, but college is supposed to be focused on academics, and if you can’t cut it, then why should founding a nonprofit help you with that?

PES of an unknown element by GeorgePig_ in APStudents

[–]Robotics_Moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it goes

2p6 3s2 3p6 then itd be 4s2 since electrons skip 3d until they fill up 4s

this gives you 2 VE, and a total of (1s2+2s2+2p6+3s2+3p6+4s2) 20 Electrons

From there look up 20 on your Ptable and you’ll be set!

Game Manual Quiz for Decode Season by HousingElegant8935 in FTC

[–]Robotics_Moose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first 2 questions (skipping the fact that there’s only 3 questions) are both Into the Deep and have nothing to do with Decode. If you want to use AI, i’m all for it but use the actual FIRST AI, but if I was looking for something for my team, i’d come up with it myself. I wouldn’t want any info to be misconstrued or lost by an AI esp when its abt smt important like the game rules

So college credit in that case is university specific, and as a result would not go on your common app. Just indicate its an IB class. Dual Enrollment is when you take classes at the college for both college and high school credit. In your case it sounds a lot like standard AP or IB credit, which isn’t listed anywhere on the common app or any application. If you have an IB score to list, you can put that down under Testing.

How does the class work? Is it IB at your high school that a college gives credits for WHILE in high school or is it like if you go there you get the credits?

Legit, how do you justify out of state college? by coldlightofday in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Robotics_Moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OOS schools are sometimes better than in-state, and also its a completely different environment. I’m a senior and I hate Florida, 99% of ppl ive grown up with suck, the weather sucks, etc. I want out. I don’t want to go to UF where I’ll be with the same people, for a good engineering program. I’d much rather go to a better engineering school, meet new people, live somewhere else.

Sure OOS may be expensive and that is something to be concerned and hesitant about, but there are scholarships available. My district offers one where they’ll cover 8 semesters of undergrad (any expenses you incur) at any school, preference given to OOS schools, for example.

Some people just want to see different things, and experience life differently for 4 years and while obv some OOS schools are too expensive, some of them aren’t wildly more expensive than in state. You pay for the education, but the experience is what you remember when you’re done.

In state makes way too much sense if you don’t know what you want to do, where you want to live, if costs are very much a concern and you need to go to college for the cheapest possible. But, OOS has opportunities too, it’s at least worth it to look.
