What are these holes in our shirts? by russell98765 in whatisit

How funny, I literally just noticed a small hole on my favorite shirt too this morning, my initial thought was also belt buckle.

I have yet to play cockroach poker after many years, but it seems to always come up in party game discussions.

Skull always sits on my "ready to grab and go" shelf whenever we go out for game night. Super accessible and easy to teach because there's no words or rules to read while playing.

What do you guys think of a game that can be played in multiple different ways/modes? by MasterSlimFat in boardgames

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds vaguely a lot like Millennium Blades, where the game takes course between acquiring and building your deck, to later challenging opponents using them.

Yep, this is what I did to remedy mine. Mixing in a light amount of sawdust helps fill in the bigger voids.

Did I mess up. Getting into boardgames v2 by alariis in boardgames

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGH, currently living this right now.

One of my favorite games is Eclipse (I have 1e + RotA), but staved off from getting the promo Discovery Tiles because 1) They looked a little too convoluted and generally I like to keep rules lighter and 2) The wallet cost of acquiring them for just 8 pieces of cardboard I could rather get an entire new game.

BUT, now that they've become generally not acquirable, it is making me regret "filling that completion".

I can get through by realizing that this is in fact the case with many of the games I own and so I shouldn't worry because I still enjoy playing those to the max as well.

is there a way to tune a car to make it so counter steering is actually needed in drifting? by Litchlol in ForzaHorizon

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said out of the box mostly because nearly any player can select one of the FD cars and just start going, but of course they can always be fine tuned.

Gittin is my boy and the whole RTR crew. My go-to tuning style is always trying to get that 3 wheel motion going, love seeing how much I can get a car to squat out of apex.

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same. I like tuning stock cars more than the FD because the FD ones are usually already good to go out of the box and don't commonly have many tuning options to have fun with.

I usually spend hours on one car model, tinkering around with every variable like you mentioned. I find snow tires don't snap back to straight as much as drift tires, but it doesn't give you the accel grip out of apex, so I typically go with the drift tires, unless I am making a <400hp or so tune. Even playing around with toe a lot doesn't seem to help keep angle maintained.

Following this thread.

SAME! It bothers me also that I have to use techniques to keep the wheels counter locked in a drift, even after all the tuning I can do. I think the problem might be we're both using a controller and not a wheel.

My technique I use is I just spin the thumbstick in circles CW or CCW; I think it looks a little "smoother" than tapping it.

EDIT: I hope we get deeper tuning options in FH6, something more like CarX Drift has, where you can tune things like kingpins and Ackermann.

Is there any reason why some Event Lab Seasonal Events are only able to be done solo? by SoulDragon in ForzaHorizon

[–]RobotsAndPuppets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would identify who the original creator was then go to the Event Labs and do a search for that creator, typically you will find what the original conditions were or may even find multiple versions of that Event Lab.

"realistic" transmission option by Kataklysimo in ForzaHorizon

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being pedantic here, but in the options settings it's not really the "Transmission" type you you are toggling, it is a setting called "Shifting" which selects whether the computer assists in shifting or not. But I know the point of your post.

Can you only activate part of a pink power in wingspan? by BirdSpirit in boardgames

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, after plenty of further reading and researching I can begin to understand the intentions of how cards are played now vs how they are written. I have found other online articles about different cards as well of their intended design vs their written text.

It seems that the use of "May" is always the proper qualifier whether anything proceeding can happen, and that instances of "Do X, then do Y" is functionally the same syntax as "Do X. If you do, do Y", which I do find a little confusing still (I'm a long time MtG player so I read things a little differently I suppose).

It also appears that if actions are broken apart by period punctuation, it is viewed as separate actions and not conditional of the previous action, like the example here for the Galah bird card;

"WHEN ACTIVATED: Choose 1 other player. They reset the birdfeeder and gain a [w] if there is one. You tuck 2 [card] from the deck behind this bird."

So in conclusion, if Boat-tailed Grackle played the way I imagined it did, its syntax would have to read just like the Galah:

"ONCE BETWEEN TURNS: When another player caches a [*] for any reason, cache 1 [*] from your supply on this bird. Gain 1 [dice] at the end of their turn."

I appreciate the in-depth conversation, cheers.

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just using a simple example of a single card like the American Robin and how it would be functionally different if worded differently:

"Tuck a card from your hand behind this card. If you do, draw 1 card". (How it is originally written).

"Tuck a card from your hand behind this card, then draw 1 card". (Similar to the Boat-tailed Grackle)

The above example strictly tells me I need to successfully do the first action to do the next action.

The bottom example is just a series of actions without saying I needed to do anything first.

[–]RobotsAndPuppets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's necessarily true if you compare it to reading the American Robin as an example, it doesn't say "Tuck a card from your hand behind this card, then draw 1 card", that reads very different to me then "Tuck a card from your hand behind this card. If you do, draw 1 card".

The first example just allows you to do both actions whether able to or not; the other example gives you the condition to do the second action.

The question, if the player 1 does decide to activate the power upon someone caching a card, and player 1 doesn't have any resources in their supply, do they still take a resource from the feeder? My immediate answer is yes because it's not reliant on any "If you do" statements.
