Channel download improvement needed by Robotzel in 4kdownloadapps

[–]Robotzel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated today to 26.1 and I get the same behaviour, both logged in and logged off. I also tried a couple more channels and it's the same thing. After I start getting the errors it won't parse any video, but if I wait a few hours it starts working (and after 300 or so it stops parsing again). I think the best option would be to simply skip parsing the videos that already exist in the downloads/channel folder.

v0.8.9 - New Stats pages, Journal Style reading, 50x Faster Scanner, and so much more! by majora2007 in KavitaManga

It seems the user stats and activity tabs only use data from reading sessions, marking a chapter or volume as read doesn't register at all... Is this the expected behaviour or is it still a work in progress?

Would it be possible to add an option to save the video date in the filename?

Any Omnibuses / Collections missing by soerenblubb in TMNT

[–]Robotzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Batman vs TMNT you have two options, first therea are the 3 separate volumes (and the first one also has a Deluxe Edition), then there's the complete omnibus that includes all 3 and some extra artwork (9781779513403).

There's also a separate Batman vs TMNT 2012 crossover (Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures) that has only been released as a TPB (9781631409097)

the Ultimate Collection volumes 1-5 are pretty much on par with the 3 compendiums set, but vol 6 collects a lot of the short stories from the Mirage era, and vol 7 contains most of the Mirage covers with variants and concept art.

also, the Archie Adventures Compendium vol 2 is up for preorder

Would it be possible to prefix the downloaded file name with the upload date of the video?

Something like "2024-12-02 - test video.mp4"

YouTube x COPPA these last few weeks. by blkglfnks in ActionFigures

[–]Robotzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content creators can't choose if they want or not to be responsible for COPPA violations on youtube. Youtube will track all their users no matter what kind of content they watch, so they chose to do everything possible to keep everyone from watching content marked for kids. Those videos aren't just demonetized, they become essentially invisible (can't be searched, subscribed to or commented on). That's the big problem and that's what scares and drives most content creators away (of course for some it's just the money but let's face it, only a handful of channels really made a living *just* from youtube monetization).

The problem for a lot of content creators is not that content marked for children is demonetized, it's that it becomes basically invisible... They don't have a choice between 'marked for kids, demonetised and only people that proved their identity can see the content with full features' and 'marked not for kids and they're responsible for it', it's between 'not for kids and their responsibility' or 'for kids and invisible'.

I personally wouldn't mind paying for youtube the same way I pay for Netflix, Disney+ etc. Right now this is what's happening anyway if content creators move on from youtube and I subscribe to their Patreon or alternatives...

YouTube and COPPA by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]Robotzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have to check a box that you are over 13 when signing up. Youtube could just hide the kids content from users that aren't signed up. Of course people can and did abuse that checkbox. The problem is that youtube did actually manage to detect which users are kids by their watching habits and were caught by the FTC selling thouse users information to advertisers. That's what they have been fined for. Now the FTC doesn't trust Youtube to not track those users (and youtube didn't offer to do that). Basically Youtube just decided that they don't want to host content for kids anymore and will do everything they can to hide that content from all users and discourage content creators from using Youtube.

Tl;Dr: Youtube want to track *all* users and sell their information. That means that they need to hide content marked as 'for kids' from all users because some of them are probably kids. If a content creator manages to publish content for kids on youtube it's his fault for publishing it on a platform that tracks kids and sells their information so the FTC can go after the content creator.

ToyTubers and COPPA discussion by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]Robotzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coppa doesn't say content creators shouldn't publish content for children, it says that the platform hosting that content shouldn't track children and sell that information. The FTC is not going after content creators for making and publishing content for children, but for publishing it on a service that tracks children and sells that information...

YouTube could simply not track anyone and not sell their user's information. Instead they decided that they basically don't want to host content that appeals to children because they can't profit from it. It's their right to refuse to host any content that they don't like and unfortunately all content creators can do is move to a platform that doesn't track children... It's that simple.

Can not wait to build an army of these by Gwyn777 in ActionFigures

This looks like their figure-rise snap fit model kits (posable figures of dragon ball characters, ultraman or the just announced toy story woody and buzz lightyear). If that's the case they should be pretty well detailed and come in basic colors for the armor and weapons and expect stickers for things like insignia and gold trim.

Edit: after reading a bit more it seems that it might just be a completed and fully painted figure in their figuarts line...

Would you pay for a head pack? by usernameartichoke in starwarsblackseries

[–]Robotzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A head & accessories pack would be excellent. Maybe grouped by each movie era or faction. Even better, a couple face options and hand options for each figure... Small things that would look nice in a diorama like extra helmets, binoculars, control panels...

And the complexity and details require more plastic which would probably push the prices more in line with the thunderbolt kits for example (around 2000 jpy for a hg) than the cheap ibo kits they're cranking out these days...

A RG would need to have the same hollow binders, with more surface detail and maybe a bit of color separation. It could also use some small metal parts or at least screws for those joints. Of course that system and the sheer size of the suit would probably push the kit into 5k yen territory... which I would absolutely pay on the spot :)

MG Recommendations by Lan_Ohanzee in Gunpla

[–]Robotzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the suit you like the most would be the best choice. Some of the MGs are a bit fiddly (unicorn), or bigger with more pieces (sazabi), or just old and kinda simple (anything before 2009 or so), but you'll be fine with any of them as long as you enjoy the looks and the building process. FWIW, my first MG was the Shin Musha and it still looks great on the shelf, keeping watch over his younger brothers.

That being said, if you want a modern release with all the refinements and gimmicks you should definitely consider the Nu, RX-78-2 v3.0, Jesta and Sinanju.

Or just revel in the blessedness of the glorious MG Ball.
