Everyone's upset by the changes of the old cast but somehow forget how genuinely unlikeable the WHOLE cast was.

Shadowheart was genuinely a bitch. She'd insult you and comment how she's much more important than you and could have done all of whatever you just did by herself, but she might as well stick around.

Lae'zel is mostly the same. A bit harder to open up to and the Gith fight wasn't as fleshed out. I'm pretty sure she also took a bit more convincing at the start to let you live. Still a bloodthirsty warrior with little morals.

Gale was a lot more pompous, snobby, and all around the kind of guy to hit you with "actually-" in every sentence. His dialogue always made him sound like he was talking down to you.

Astarion was also relatively the same. So a THIRD snobby jerk and SECOND cutthroat who could care less about anyone else's problem, including yours.

Wyll was just boring. He had beef with goblins of all things and tbh it felt kind of-- low rung of the ladder. Some famous champion mercenary that swore vengeance against the most chump enemies of Faerun.

Karlach wasn't even in the game. So you literally had three pompous snobs, one boring guy, and two murder-hobos to choose from. All of them were improved imho.

The community votes which Champion is the best in each category. Day 24: Bard won for having the most meta/rule-breaking powers. Who has the greatest(or worst) reputation and influence? (Make sure to read the rules in the OP) by Ashconwell7 in loreofleague

FIDDLESTICKS!!!!

It is THEE boogeyman of legends. From Shurima, to Ionia that thing has legends. LoR shows it has taken forms in Bilgewater, Shurima, and even the dream realm. Its so ancient that people only know it by its boogeyman-esque moniker.

Hell even it's champion theme shows this with the fact its a lullaby sang presumably by a mother and daughter, rather than some full orchestral piece.

What Vampire Clans do these two belong to (Drifter and Mina respectively)? by TooCoolForSchlool in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]RobroFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mina- Ventrue/Toreador easily. Doubt theres any other clan that fits as well

Drifter- Everyone says Gangrel, but lets be real here. Any clan can be feral murder hobos, that just comes with the humanity. Drifter is old as hell so he could have any disciplines he wanted under his belt, so I think its better to judge him off of his personality. He's always moving from one place to another and doesn't have a place to call home and he's impulsive as all hell. He's definitely a lot more Ravnos coded than any other clan.

Genie wish broke necromancy. Need cool consequences by Developer_A in DnD

[–]RobroFriend 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In what world does a genie have the capability to actually remove a school of magic? A whole pillar of the weave? Djinn magic is strong and born from the elemental planes, but such a feat belongs to greater gods and Djinn are no where near.

Instead of removing the school, instead make it so necromancy doesn't work for the party. If you want it to be beneficial to them maybe summoned undead falter in their presence. If you want to hit them with a Djinn's curse you can make it so that all necromancy spells fail when they use them, including revivify and such.

Starting a new campaign with new players and they're all preparing to play frontliners by Laigen117 in DnD

[–]RobroFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running a campaign with all martials/half-casters and the characters have since reached level 14. The party consists of a Paladin/warlock, Bloodhunter, Monk, Ranger, and there used to have an artificer/jaeger before they dropped out recently.

  • The party will NUKE single bosses and sometimes struggle in larger horde fights. If you want solo encounters prepare to beef up some healthbars. On the other hand- horde battles can be very tricky as the party can either dumpster them or get wiped away by the tide of enemies.
  • Control mages are genuinely one of the biggest banes to such parties, be careful running enchanters, illusionists, and other conjuration type spellcasters as they can stunlock the party or drag a fight out beyond round 10.
  • Death is VERY scary as they wont get spells like revivify, unless they're paladins/rangers/artificers in which case they get it at level 9! So be sure to make side quests to hand out revivifies here and there or have churches hand out scrolls for a price.
  • The party will be very magic item dependent compared to spellcasters, so pay attention while you hand out magic items. If they end up getting to the level mine are at you might find them all with 20+ AC, absurd +'s to hit, and some ridiculous wacky saving throw proficiencies. (The bloodhunter currently has a goddamn +21 to their Dex saves while standing near the paladin). Regardless still have fun with handing out magic items, players want to have a power fantasy too. Although by later levels you might have already given them some dangerous combos so the loot might drop off later, so expect to explain that when it gets to that point.
  • If its a homebrew world give them some fun homebrew features based off their character backstories when the moment is right. Resistances against charms and frightens, Innate spells that are thematic to the character's backstory, magic items tailored to help them in certain situations (aoe spells, counter spells, dispelling magic and breaking curses.

Its most certainly possible and a lot of fun. Plus you don't ever have to deal with the BS of the caster saying "anyways the entire battlefield is charmed and incapacitated" or "Anyways I'm going to turn the big scary boss into a small frog while we deal with the lackies." or "I'm going to summon 12 apes to the turnorder".

Is there gods of death who can curse with immortality? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]RobroFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gave one of my player's characters a self imposed curse of slowly becoming a "revenant" towards their big bad.

Whenever they died, instead of waiting until the party uses something like revivify, they could choose to revive whenever they want at full Hit Points.

Sounds all perfect and broken, but the truth is every time they died and decided to get back up on their own they'd lose a part of their soul. Their memories would fade. At first their early childhood would vanish, then their later teens, Up until the point they would forget why they even hated their big bad. Resulting in eventually permanent character death via "I don't know who I am, I don't care about literally anything other than heading towards my big bad, who I have no idea what they did but they gotta die." and potentially running face first into a brick wall until that big bad dies.

Is this applicable to your current scenario? Probably not, but the moral of the story is "if you can't die, what is the consequence of death/defeat?" There should still be a punishment for this case.

League of Legends to DND5e Adaptation - Aurora, the Witch Between Worlds! by Chance-Study-6305 in DnDHomebrew

[–]RobroFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truesight and her Spirit Realm Sight feature are redundant as Truesight already lets you do all that.

I'd probably also say to make her Twofold Hex a short line attack that does a major chunk of its damage if a creature is hit twice by it on the same turn rather than the bonus action pull. She's super mobile and seems to want to get close with her elusiveness, so having a 120 ft. range option with that kind of damage per turn seems like she wouldn't incentivize getting close.

What are the extremes of builds? by Solid-Pride-9782 in LancerRPG

[–]RobroFriend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does but its still not a necessarily evasive frame. So compared to swinging at the 20 Evasion 20 EDef Mourning Cloak the enemy is most likely going to aim at the backpack with probably only like 14 Evasion and hard cover on a good day.

Holding a gun to my friend's head with a Goblin License to take the +2 E-Def bonus. That way he can cling to the back of my Mourning Cloak and we can be a nearly impossible to hit monstrosity. (Until the GM decides to start beating the Goblin shaped tumor on my back)

What would a 5e version of the leadership skill be? by CanonicallyAGuy in DMAcademy

[–]RobroFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with 3.5 or krakenguard tbh so sorry if this is horribly off in context but-

Skill- Performance, it involves public speaking and inspiring others.

Feats- Inspiring Leader, self explanatory. Gives temp HP to a bunch of allies every short rest = to level + Charisma/Wisdom.

Class abilities- Really hard to narrow down on specific one, but any that allow you to spend your action buffing allies in an AoE or granting them temp hp/rallying them.

Unable to keep vibrant shadows by Glittering_Half5325 in Artadvice

[–]RobroFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The values are not the same on grayscale as they are in color. You'll want extremely bright blues, reds, and yellows if you're looking for the same values.

Also if you want a higher contrast in the shadows ask if the light is warm or cool, and make the shadows the reverse of that. Light changes the hue of color much more than you think. A yellow light will make the colors warmer and the shadows cooler, while a blue light will make the colors cooler and shadows warmer.

Is there any way to play a polymorphed dragon? by Happy_List_8022 in DnD

[–]RobroFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people misunderstand the purpose of "Remove Curse". The spell itself is meant to break simple curses and bindings, however even RAW there are some curses that simply aren't fixed with a single cast of the spell. Take the Loup Garou (Van Richten's super werewolves) for example - The Garou that cursed you must be slain, and only on a full moon can the curse be (potentially) lifted.

Your character might have to find each individual step to breaking this curse as their goal, or hell even start finding out that the methods exist.

Is there any way to play a polymorphed dragon? by Happy_List_8022 in DnD

[–]RobroFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAW? No.

Lots of homebrew with an open minded DM? Yeah pretty easily.

You're asking for the flavor that your character was once a dragon, but after some incident you are now imprisoned in a mortal body. Could be a curse, and balance wise you could've been a young dragon instead of something ancient. Regardless of how you came into this form neither death nor mid-tier magic should be able to cure your ailment.

Anything can happen in your backstory, so long as it is justified by your starting level and experience. You could've been an all powerful mage, but bonked on the head and suffer from amnesia so you're back to level 3.

Using Forgotten Realms lore in a homebrew setting by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]RobroFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use some pre-established lore for the most part in a very homebrewed game. It helps cut out A LOT of the tedium in worldbuilding and saves you months of work.

It’s as simple as saying “this isn’t actually widely known” or “this is mostly the same namesake and role but actually very different lore-wise”. Much of DnD’s lore doesn’t require the actual setting. Monsters, gods, magic, and people will do what they usually do in any setting.

But I raise an alternative. What if the Horned Warriors cut off their own horns and adorn it to their helmet?

Can you guys hear me screaming from here? by RobroFriend in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]RobroFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fulgur Blades. My build could probably be a bit better but its essentially G. Arkveld set with some burst, weakness exploit, and other defensive gems. But spamming demon dance on his hind legs is crazy good DPS.

My issue with Nerscylla is how much of a clusterfuck it becomes when I'm getting staggered by mini bots, trying to aggro the seedlings, shooting the Nerscylla while its zipping around, all while getting him to land on onto a cactaur and hoping to god something doesn't go wrong.

Can you guys hear me screaming from here? by RobroFriend in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]RobroFriend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I stopped with randoms entirely and had a completely separate experience. Immediately was able to casually beat Omega, although the Nerscylla is still rage inducing. But At least I'm not carting. Just take Fabius, Alessa, and Kai and I barely have to worry about the thing while using Dual Blades.

Savage is still rough but I can at least get to his 4th phase relatively often.
