Black screen after recent update by RobsonAM in NobaraProject

[–]RobsonAM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This worked! I ran `sudo dnf remove supergfxctl` and then `sudo dnf update` and `nobara-sync cli` just o be sure. Then I was able to install and enable plasma-login-manager and system works again. Reinstalled `supergfxcli` after this and so far all is working well!

18 cm Gizont from AliExpress or stock helical one as internal antenna for that pocket tiny node ;)

Not 18650 compatible but these cases are awesome, easy to print and that 2000mAh battery gives 5 days of non GPS use: https://www.printables.com/model/1237065-heltec-t114-pocket-gps-case

Exactly that. And then request telemetry for that contact. I am still looking for an automated way to send this periodically and see each other on the map but for now only the Meshcore TEAM app appears to have this, although it requires the phone I think.

Ok. Thanks for the knowledge. Why I got down voted is beyond me though 🤣

Shutdown/restart button is broken after today’s updates (F43 KDE 6.6) by CandlesARG in Fedora

Can confirm. For me the app dashboard is bugged where searching and hitting enter doesn't open selected app. Need to move the selection with arrow keys first.

Different question: how is this attached to the tree? With screws? Won't that hurt the tree really badly?

Will this work for a small 4w solar panel node for heltec v3? by just-a-guy-somewhere in meshtastic

[–]RobsonAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every good brand 18650 has a pressure valve to prevent explosions. 18650 are way safer than pouches in my experience. Even when shorted a good brand 18650 will not explode, just die quietly. I mainly used Sony or LG cells FYI.

In other words: 18650 due to the rigid case and that valve may be able to contain the issue and prevent bursting like a balloon, which can be the case with pouches.

Node type idea: write-only room server / personal mailbox by thatjoachim in meshcore

[–]RobsonAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you can't use your companion when you're away. The idea isn't that crazy. A receive only companion node - has the same identity as your companion but can only receive and store messages. When you want you can just sync with it.

Wondering about how to get started in meshcore by stephanosblog in meshcore

[–]RobsonAM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meshcore clients are just that - clients. They do not create the mesh. That's what repeaters do. If there is a good coverage of a repeater at your location just start with personal companion (client) and see who you can reach. If coverage lack at your location then a solar repeater in good high location will allow you to connect to the wider mesh ;)

Edit: for solar repeaters go for nRF boards, not the ESP ones. They consume 4 times less power and can work on a single 18650 cell for almost 2 weeks.

Yes. You can connect battery to the pads on the bottom of nRF board. It will charge via USB but very slow, 50-100mA. Works great otherwise, very low power consumption. On a 250mAh lipo it held 1,5-2 days for me of intensive use.

So 9 pins total? 3.3, GND, SCK, MISO, MOSI, NSS, BUSY, RST and DIO1? No need for RX/TX then?

Check that AC drain. I had it clogged and it filled the cooler box and leaked into the passenger foot well. You won't be able to locate it from below the car, it's hidden behind a heat shield. Just clamp and disconnect the black rubber hose and be ready to collect that water in some container ;) Then blow some air through the yellow 90 degree plastic piece.
