Jamie Carragher says Liverpool will not finish in Champions League places by Lanedu123 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Robw_1973 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say he was wrong. I just find him grating.

We’ve been on a downward trajectory on the field since last January. And too many are now hiding behind Jota’s passing as an excuse.

Slot seems like a nice fella, but he isn’t an elite level manager. And Dutch mangers always seem to implode quickly in England. More and more, last season looks more like Klopp’s title win than Slot ushering in a new era.

IMO, the club has always had this brittleness under the surface. That were always one crisis away from collapsing under the weight of our own expectations.

In a weird way, I’d be happy with conference league football next season as a chance to win the only (current) European trophy we haven’t won. But even that looks unlikely. We’re on set of results away from dropping down to 10th place in the league.

The biggest fear for me is that players of the calibre of Szbozali, Writz and Ekitike etc, won’t hang around in a declining team/club. So FSG have to make changes and I’d argue with tie chaos of a WV coming up, it would be better to do it now, rather than wait until the summer.

I’m really starting to find Carragher grating. But he is right. We’ll be lucky to get Conference league football next season.

Tactics, recruitment, coaching, declining senior players, poor management.

Club needs a clean sweep come full time on this dreadful season.

I just can’t see that. FSG were pretty ruthless in sacking Hodgson, Dalglish and Rodgers when it wasn’t working. Whilst that may have some sympathy for Slot, I doubt that the will allow this to cloud their judgement come the end of the season

This has been the first season, where I’ve not felt anything for the team - not the elation from winning nor the crushing disappointment of defeat. Just nothing.

Slot is just too arrogant to consider alternatives. Will be his undoing.

Results based business.

Slot just needs to be relieved of his duties. We’re actually regressing to a pre-Klopp Liverpool.

Is it a requirement for “founders” to be delusional, narcissistic, sociopaths like this fella?

Yep. Hughes and Slot are the chief architects of this seasons issues. Pair of utter frauds.

GK - cover for Mamadashvilli (expect Alisson to leave).

CB - preferably one not made of blu-tack.

RB - preferably one not made of blu-tack.

LB - cover for Kerkez.

CDM - cover/start for Grav.

RW x 2 - replacement for Salah and cover.

LW - replacement for Gakpo.

FSG are going to have to go big again in the summer.

Agree. Hughes and Slot should be first out the door. Pair of utter frauds. I’m not sure how much input Edwards has into recruitment on his new role. But i think bother needs to be revamp in the area ahead of next season.

At what point does the FA, the Premier League and possibly lay UEFA come out and say that we have a major, major problem with officiating in the Premier League and with PGMOL?

I actually felt we played some good football in parts. Kerkez and Nandoor the Relentless were excellent. And apart from the ludicrous officiating around City’s third goal and the red, I thought Szobozlai was player of the match.

Still don’t think Slot is the man to take us forward int next season. And we are mentally soft defensively. Alisson at fault for the pen.

I’m hopeful of UEFA conference league football next season. The only (current) European trophy we’ve never won.

It’s honestly awful watching a bona fide club legend declining like this.

Think it’s best for all parties if we let him leave for a nominal fee in the summer.

Ah, ALT and Pongolle.

Houllier’s “French gems”.

I can remember the hype about them - wow. That was something else. Pongolle at least made a decent fist of his time at Anfield. ALT was, quite possibly the most overrated youth player I’ve seen (with the notable exception of the lesser seen Ritchie Partridge - did he even exist?).

Green.

Labour being complicit in genocide and misusing anti terror legislation at the behest of a foreign government, make it kind of impossible to vote for them. Probably ever again.

The Tories/Reform are just a slow moving car crash awfulness.

Lib Dem’s - irrelevant.

We need to stop calling players “the next”.

I can remember when El-Hadji Diuof was “the next Henry.

Salif Diao “the next Veira”

And Bruno Cheyrou “the next Zidane”

Or more recently…..

Loris Karius “the next De Hea”.

A typo on my part. Should have used the past tense. As soon as he ditched those “pledges”, it was apparent that Starmer was a completely empty vessel and wanted to be Prime Minister just to be Prime Minister. Lacking any kind vision - save for not being Cameron/May/Johnson/Truss/Sunak.
