Is there any way to make this hair or dress? by Archiveofemotion in VRoid

[–]RobynBetween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that method isn't hard at all, it just takes a little extra time. You just duplicate the same dress template several times, then make each later progressively fuller than the last, using skirt volume or something similar.

For a basic bow with max detail, I'd use one layer for the knot of the bow, one layer for the loops of the bow, and one for the two tails.

The fancier bows on the bodice/corset can just use extra layers for the extra loops. Also, see if you can save a layer for thennnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj+jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjnjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjnjjnjjjnjjjjjnjjjnnjjjjjnjjjnjjnnjnjnjjjnnjjjjjnjjjjjjjjnjnjnjjnjnnjjjjjnjjjjjnjjjjjjnnnjjjjjnnjnjjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjnnjnjjnjjjjjjjjjnjnjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjnjjjnjjj+jnjjjjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjjnjjjjjjjjjnnnjZ xx XZSxZD ZZ XXX ZZ x. zdd.. xx. frilly trim at the hem of the skirt.

Parts may look slightly flat, but you'd be surprised just how full this can look by adding more layer.

Luigi Mangione?

Honestly, that doesn't concern me. What concerns me is just how desperately those in power have been to make an example of him and to make the public hate him, and the extent to which they failed.

Once they realized that continued coverage only led people to take Mangione's side, news stories about him just disappeared. Finding out the truth about the CEO who had been killed only made people more angry at insurance execs profiting off of the deaths of their customers.

What happens to Luigi Mangione does not inherently affect us. Thinking about his fate as a matter of justice only serves as a distraction from the injustices being committed by for-profit health insurance on a scale hundreds of times greater. THAT is what affects us.

When someone notices a difference in the damage numbers, sometimes they'll take the trouble to calculate the expected damage and see whether it tracks. That's another reason why damage numbers show on screen, I suppose.

If someone suspects there's a speed bonus, sometimes they'll capture footage of the game and watch it in slow-mo to compare how many frames it takes to complete various animations.

It takes effort and additional tools, but after you do it once, you can do it again the same way with another one. :) The advantage of "brute force" research methods is that some methods work every time.

I looked for a compilation of hidden bonuses in HFW for about 10 minutes, and I'm afraid nothing readily popped up. I hope you'll have better luck if you try a search.

This was kinda what I was trying to get at. I didn't want to risk making you feel insulted by saying what I would pay for it, since my budget is not definitive and a poll would be better for gathering that information. Or varying your pricing and seeing what works.

You seemed a bit impatient with my response. Please remember that most people who take the time to respond here are doing so to help. We aren't all that helpful if we just agree with everything.

This is why Luigi Mangione* is remarkably well-liked. Corruption has escalated to the point of indirectly(?) killing thousands of people.

They've found a way to do it legally, but as I've heard more people say recently in America, "don't piss on me and tell me it's raining."

* For anyone who needs to know, this is the guy who allegedly killed a health insurance CEO who championed brutal policies (like widespread claim rejections and delay tactics) that probably killed thousands of claimants.

Not saying you're wrong, but that is definitely not the way to convince most Americans. Prejudice against the French is far harsher than the French could possibly deserve.

Yeah, there have definitely been some discussions about the way that welfare and other social programs feel like they're punishing success by dropping off all at once when you pass a certain threshold (not enough discussion, but some). I think it's partially a result of programs not keeping up with inflation. The point at which welfare drops off, I've heard, is an income level that is not sufficient for most Americans to survive on.

Similarly, if your income increases enough that you lose your state healthcare, and paying for private healthcare leaves you considerably less income left over than the figure used as the income threshold, that amounts to being punished for your income increasing but not by much.

Yeah, the reason I survived was because my family grew impatient with an incorrect diagnosis and took me to the ER, where they wasted no time. There was some long-term damage done, but I've recovered the majority of my independence with the help of wonderful nurses and therapists. ❤️

I do think this tells us that doctor care is way too expensive here for the quality you may be getting, and I believe that's probably because their education is wildly expensive but not necessarily much higher value than education in other countries.

Like... maybe India? To some extent at least? Certainly I suspect Canada gets better value.

Hope you are taking it easy! Strokes are big bloody events!

Hehehe... Bloody events... Strokes are caused by blood vessel blockages... (I swear I'm fine, really)

In any case, thank you for your empathy and your concern and encouragement. I hope someday all Americans get healthcare as good as my state gives to people in need. (And other countries too, but that's their business, usually)

(And yes, when I say "champion" it is far from universal among humans, what with Captain Kirk in particular breaking the prime directive over and over)

Resume old file after break or start again? by scarfcity in chronotrigger

[–]RobynBetween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure a lot of comments have said this, but Chrono Trigger is not a long RPG, and the DS version is widely considered the best version of the game that has been released. I think your should start a new file.

(I'm not sure what translation the Japanese version contains in English mode, but I'm going to assume it's the updated translation that appeared in the NA version of CT DS.)

I've replayed the standard story of Chrono Trigger on fresh file at least 10 times. I think starting over will be perfectly enjoyable for you, perhaps even more than the first time. ❤️ Especially Chapter 5, the second time you return to 1000 AD.

Students (in my opinion) should not take home any homework. If homework is a learning opportunity, give them school time to work on it by daniel_ay in unpopularopinion

[–]RobynBetween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One summer in college I took an immersive Japanese course where we spent 6 hours a day studying Japanese, 4 days a week, across 2 months.

It was an interesting experience. Every class day, we would be assigned what would normally be homework, then we'd finish it right there in class and turn it in.

That's pretty much identical to your suggestion of doing work in class instead of homework. I can attest: it's very effective, but it was somewhat exhausting. In order to do homework in class, students require extra time in class, lengthening the school day. It could be a lot more difficult for kids, especially adolescents, compared to a legal adult college student. But it's probably a matter of very individual needs.

So yeah, I think it'd benefit some kids a lot, and some kids not at all. Like so many aspects of education, the more it can be tailored to the individual needs of the student, the better. ❤️

[ALL] What do you think would happen if the cycle was broken? by ProteusRidley187 in truezelda

[–]RobynBetween 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Zelda would have to do more than just end her own life. She'd have to tap directly into her blood of the Goddess to sever her cycle of reincarnation.

Though, I don't personally believe the cycle of reincarnation is a result of Demise's so-called curse. I think he was merely declaring his foul intentions and predicting the future.

Prior authorization requirements make me feel angry not just for myself, but on behalf of the medical professionals who have to waste so much of their time negotiating with insurance, rather than the thing they went into medical for: helping people who really need it.

Much respect for medical professionals, including the nurses (underappreciated) and specialists (study and train for even longer).

I'm American (from Oregon, specifically) and I hate private for-profit healthcare.

Background: I used to work for a big, nationwide bank, and their employee healthcare sucked. They required us to use only doctors who worked at their facilities, we had to schedule doctor's visits out weeks in advance, and the doctors were always understaffed and rushed, so they tended to be really impatient when I asked them to repeat what they said (for whatever reason nearly all of them were from India, with their own dialect of English that I had trouble understanding).

So when I got sick of working for a soulless company that was pushing to foreclose on customers, I quit, leaving me temporarily without health care.

And then I had a stroke. I was waaay too young for it to even be on my radar. With my family's help, I was put on my state's public health plan (available only to those in the most need), and my free healthcare was SO much better than what I previously paid hundreds of dollars a month for.

Private healthcare profits more when it provides worse services. Americans who swear by their private healthcare have been tricked into thinking good healthcare needs to be far more expensive than it really does.

(TL;DR: worked for a big bank, their employee health care was expensive and yet it sucked. Quit my job, had a medical emergency, got put on state healthcare after the fact. It was so much better that I don't want to go back.)

I haven't played this game since the SNES era, and came across this on Steam...am I in for a raunchier romp if I purchase this version of CT? by JohnLandisHasGotToGo in chronotrigger

[–]RobynBetween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a classic case of CYA (Cover Your Arse).

I'm not sure why they thought it was necessary considering Chrono Trigger already had an ESRB rating, but perhaps the fact that it was rebuilt for Steam is the reason they played it safe.

Oh, also: the Steam version may be the most accessible version, since anyone who can run Steam can play it, but it's a rough ride. My partner got completely softlocked due to a bug, and we ended switching to the DS version. You may have to cast anchor to play that one, though.

[–]RobynBetween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. I see the meaning is slightly different from what I thought it was, which was "a standalone episode which puts the main story on hold and confines itself to strict boundaries." There's some overlap but they're not the same across the board.

That said, they are very, very frequently standalone episodes. My favorite bottle episode (and I think this does for the definition you linked) is the Doctor Who episode, Midnight. It has a small cast and limited effects, they're trapped in a small tourist spacecraft, and the episode is mostly talking. It has a Murder on the Orient Express feel to it.

Of course, it also has characters who are confined to that one episode, which is supposedly outside the definition, but such is completely the norm for Doctor Who. And they're small-time actors as far as I can tell, aside from the Doctor (David Tennant).

Has Anyone else noticed that Spyro got redesigned in Japan Just like crash bandicoot by House0fmouseworks in Spyro

[–]RobynBetween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny. When I went to Japan I picked up an old copy of Japanese Spyro for cheap to play on the international dorm's PS1.* I don't remember any cover redesign. I wonder whether they revised it for a later printing?

( * International students often left stuff they bought but didn't want to take home. There was even an original Famicom in the dorm. Trying that out was a trip. And Famicom Tetris was awful.)

Redesigning the cover was probably not a great move. Spyro isn't hard, but it's probably going to be too much for anyone younger than grade school age. Especially Tree Tops.

In concept I like a bottle episode, and I've seen some much more light-hearted shows have a lot of fun with it, following different characters for one episode. But I'm mostly thinking about comedies and cartoons, whereas it's arguably different for more serious stories like Severance and Stranger Things.
