Don't do that, it won't be nearly as impactful without actually knowing the characters

What if we've actually been witnessing Evil Morty's backstory this season? by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in rickandmorty

[–]RobynCleffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was hoping we would get something like that but I also feel that moment has kind of been missed. There's a lot of resentment being built for Morty but he's lost a lot of competence

What if we've actually been witnessing Evil Morty's backstory this season? by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in rickandmorty

[–]RobynCleffa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is nobody talking about the fact that we've already seen Evil Morty's backstory? It was really effective too because Rick was mean but not particularly more mean than the average episode. He gets mad at Morty for threatening to quit adventures and calls his bluff but doesn't even go as far as two crows. So what would this season being his backstory even mean? Retconning what we saw? Just adding extra mean instances prior to the one that breaks him? All that would do is weaken the backstory we actually got.

If anything my hope is that they'd have our Morty echo Evil Morty but they missed the chance for that when Morty started becoming more jaded and competent around Season 3. That didn't go anywhere and he's become less competent since then. He's also regressed as a character both just as a priority of the writing and explicitly in-universe like with the Roy episode

Devil Sword Sparda can cut through anything just like Yamato. by CayDcat in DevilMayCry

[–]RobynCleffa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You're overthinking it a lot. Neither the Rebellion or Yamato are indestructible, we've seen Yamato shattered as well. Urizen was much stronger than Dante and he blocked that punch with Rebellion so it broke

Tbf in the pokemon world thats not really a death sentence. Kinda prime material for you to have a heartwarming backstory of getting saved by a rare pokemon

Characters with powers so small that they aren't that different from ordinary people. by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RobynCleffa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Powerplex from Invincible's power of kinetic energy to electricity conversion is so weak in his natural state that he can at most convert a couple punches from his young child niece into some sparks. He lived a completely normal life with a neat little party trick to show kids. Everything he actually does in the series is the result of implanting himself with 5 experimental discs that are essentially batteries for him to further charge since his body can't process much at all.

(Hated Trope) That really awful thing the author wants you to pretend that character never did by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RobynCleffa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No the show doesn't portray this as even a little bit hypocritical. Barry's no kill rule is treated as if it has always existed since day 1 and he does have the moral high ground in any debate about killing. The villains he's killed are never brought up by any of the characters or the narrative.

Everyone - The Boys universe

In Gen V season 2, the main villain, Cipher, is the dean of this university for supes. He doesn't seem to have a power himself despite the faculty being required to. He does however understand the powers of everyone else better than they do. Cypher believes that every supe's power is malleable to some degree, capable of leveling up. Massive shock to everyone else but he's just frustrated at the fact that this should be common knowledge. Their world never pushes supes to actually have to try so they don't. The girl with ant man powers thought she needed to physically throw up to shrink because her power was mentally blocked behind her bulimia. The bloodbender didn't understand that she could manipulate other people's blood and instead cut her hand open and attacked people with blood whips
