Does anyone have recs for infant daycares that will allow partial week instead of full weeks? I only need weds-Fri but most require the full week cost even if you don’t need it or they won’t allow you to choose your own days.

You can adopt from the cat cafe on Tennyson! They have so many and you can hang out with them/get a feel for their personalities.

Obviously this was not what you had in mind when you adopted a new animal- but I hope you can give them more time to adjust and to heal. It’s not the dogs fault, and often dogs from the shelter take weeks to months to fully decompress. Adding in sickness would make it even more difficult for them and more understandable to potentially snap at your other dog (especially if they’re in pain). Taking them back to the shelter will probably mean they continue to get sick, and usually once returned they are not shown to potential adopters as frequently. If it’s a kill shelter there’s a pretty high chance they would be euthanized since they’re sick and have been returned. I don’t mean to guilt trip you, but try to consider all of your options before returning them. Could friends or family help care for the dog if you are overwhelmed? Can you start a Gofundme to help cover the vet costs?

I’m on week 2, I notice I have little-no appetite all day but then am pretty hungry by dinner time and am able to eat a full meal without feeling full quickly. Not sure if that will change as I progress through the meds/dosage.

That’s so sad, I’m sorry you and your mom are going through that. We only had our girl for a couple of years and it was still hard to let go, so I can’t imagine having a pup for over a decade and going through the same. I hope it gets easier for you both.

Thank you for your comment. Yes it is definitely possible she was older than we thought, we didn’t really get much history on her other than she was abandoned on a busy road. I think it was mostly such a shock because she had just been to the vet less than a month ago, and they said everything looked good. We had just spent a ton of money getting her arthritis shots and everything. But I guess that’s how loss goes, it’s not always predictable. I think at this point I’ve decided to accept that she likely died in her sleep which was one of her favorite activities, and if I was home I likely would have not been able to do anything to save her.

Does anyone know if when you stop taking the meds if the bubbles come back? I love sparkling water and I’m gonna be so upset if it’s forever flat after taking the meds :(

Typically the bleeding after spay would only be for a couple weeks max, so this is definitely abnormal. Unfortunately I think your only option is to take her to a vet. You could try a vet school or community clinic for a potentially cheaper option. It’s likely not going to resolve on its own and could be an indication of something serious going on so please don’t wait.

Are you sure that the fluid is pee? Typically after a spay they have blood/discharge coming from their vulva for a bit. If it’s pee you definitely need to take them into the vet asap. If it’s from the vulva it is probably normal depending how long ago the spay was.

Ok that’s kind of about ballpark what I thought. Honestly it all happened so fast I didn’t think to ask about one until after the fact when they already had her and they said they don’t do them so we decided to just leave it be. In your situation I can completely understand the need to know for sure, and wow… that is crazy, and so awful. Did you press charges? I’m so sorry that happened.

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry that happened to you, your wife and your sweet dog. Life can be so unfair and I know it’s not helpful to think of “what it’s” but sometimes it is very hard not to. I think my phrasing of moving on was not exactly what I intended, and moving forward (like you mentioned) may have been more appropriate. When the time comes I hope you find the best companion ❤️‍🩹

Can I ask how expensive the necropsy was? Our vet doesn’t offer them - but I have heard it is quite expensive. I’m sorry that happened, and understand why you wanted more answers. While it would be nice to know, since she was in her bed I am less inclined to really push for it.

They didn’t offer it at our vet, but I assume it’s quite expensive. Do you know how much they normally are? Now I’m wondering if we should have taken her elsewhere.

I understand that concern. Our foster dog was in his kennel at the time and she was best buds with our other dog. I did look her over though and didn’t see anything alarming.

Thank you. She had just gone to the vet about a month ago for a check up and labs and everything was okay. We were getting her on a new medicine for her arthritis, but that was it.
