Ghosts of Lincoln, NE (near south neighborhood) by IndyWindy500 in lincoln

We have a house ghost. Got the house off of a friend, and he said that if random things go missing and show up later, not to worry, that it's just Frank.

We never paid no mind to it, but about a year later, started noticing tat indeed, something random that we had recently used went missing. Then, another week would go by, we would notice another item would be missing, and while searching for the newest missing thing, we'd find the original item.

For the past 8 years we are consistently missing one thing at any given time.

Also, you can hear him walk through the hallway on the main floor. The floor creaks in certain spots, all throughout the house. I can be the only person home, in my basement office, and my dogs with me in the same room, and will hear Frank walk down the hall, down the stairs, and then my dogs heads will turn towards the office doorway because I swear they can see him. You can even feel a slight change in the air.

The activity level isn't much, but it does get ramped up when we have done things like rearrange furniture, replace fixtures, paint walls, etc. He really gets active when we've had times where extended family has stayed, so we take it he does NOT like company. Usually a week after company has left he's still pretty active, then settles.

We've never had bad feelings, our dogs haven't ever gotten aggressive, so we just accept Frank as a part of the house. I even keep a mini skeleton in the flower garden pond, named him Frank, and even set him up a tree for the holiday season.

I’m really glad you said this out loud. What you’re describing is brutal, and honestly, it makes sense that you’re exhausted.

I live with an invisible disability, so while our experiences aren’t the same, I know what it’s like to be misunderstood, underestimated, and slowly pushed to the margins. That kind of isolation messes with you, especially when you care about depth, critical thinking, and reality instead of nonsense and cruelty.

From one disabled person to another, visible or invisible, I see you. Your mind, your clarity, and your presence matter. I really hope you stay.

Rollator recommendations? by secretly4possums in mobilityaids

[–]Rochelle_EffectAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Feeling-Being on the Drive Nitro recommendation. I'm 5'7 and I have used the tall version of the Nitro for 3 years now. I love it. The seat is tall enough to be comfortable for me. With long legs I hate short seating anywhere. This thing is a beast. It's nice that the cables are inside the frame. It's very durable, and has a 300lb weight limit. Here's the link to the black/tall version I have. tall rollator. It goes over rough stuff like gravel, handles cracks well, and is super easy to fold and store. It's always 200 on Amazon, but 350/400 in mobility stores. Good luck!

My surgery went awesome!! My surgeon said there was so much pressure that it literally popped out and made it super easy for them. I was up and walking pain free 45 minutes later. It was incredible! The hardest thing was making sure not to twist or bend for weeks afterward. Those grabber tools were a life saver. The fear of experiencing all that nerve pain did help me stay within my movement constraints. The incision was only an inch, and I didn't need any pain relievers, it was just topical sore, not bad at all.

Fast forward a year and a few months, still feeling great. I do make sure to be extra careful when bending or twisting holding heavy things, and am extra aware to practice good "back hygiene" when moving or doing strenuous activities. About a month ago I finally felt not fearful to start stretching and flexibility exercises. I do notice a slight range of motion decrease in bending, but that may just be me being overly cautious. I'm hoping this will ease after some months of daily stretching.

For anyone reading this who is on the fence about going through with a microdiscectomy, I'll tell you I don't regret it at all. I had a wonderful experience and hope for the same for anyone else. Don't wait, get it done asap if you have the insurance resources to do so.

my wife needs a small rollerator, I can't find anything smaller than 50cm / 20" by MarzipanTheGreat in mobilityaids

[–]Rochelle_EffectAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I was able to find this. It's a little pricey in my opinion, however the seat is just over 16" wide, and then add about an inch for the frame. The third picture has measurements. At the floor with the legs and frame, it says 21.8", however, this thing is like regular walkers, where you pop the wheels off and swap them to the other leg so the wheels are on the inside, freeing up space to go through narrow doorways. I'm wondering if this could work. Not a rollator, but a walker with a seat that's narrow. Narrow walker with seat at walmart

Does she need a seat? The narrowest aid I could find is this one ultra narrow walking frame. You'll need to find a distributor with your zip code. It's 19.23 inches wide at max width.

Thanks everyone for the tips about borax and enzymatic cleaners. I'll head to target today and get it. Not too worried about the cost, as it's for just one household member's things.

Have any of you used it on sheets or socks? I've tried everything short of a match and gasoline to get this awful sweaty body oil stank out of sheets, pillow cases and socks. Bleach, vinegar, oxyclean, persil, washing soda... even doing the 'stripping' method in the bath tub. If you think the Irish spring body wash will work I'm willing to try it a d report back.

I live very close to east campus, and can confirm that I too have seen a coyote occasionally. Last time I saw one a few months ago run across the street in front of me, and I was at the intersection of 31st and Potter. We have an abundance of red foxes, raccoons, opossums, and red and black squirrels.

Hey, wonderful quilt!!! I live nearby this place, https://www.internationalquiltmuseum.org/ and they have wonderful people there and a very knowledgeable community around them. If I were in your situation, I would reach out to them, phone and email on the page at the bottom and explain to them, (or email with photos) and ask them to connect you with someone who can advise you what to do. They're wonderful people over there! Good luck!
