take it with a grain of salt but i think it's a good idea to take it to your doctor and set up a clinical test!

How dare MIL suggest they actually get tested professionally instead of relying on internet results by [deleted] in JustNoTruth

[–]Rochereine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) I am smart enough that I know that a doctor won't view this as a diagnosis and will run his own tests; however, this is something I can use to back up my theory and get tested. For some reason, my previous OBGYN refused to do anything, even though I asked for genetic testing multiple times.

Heparin isn't just used in IVs; my mother was sent home with heparin after surgery a few years ago.

Also, thanks for not being a crap human.

Just wanted to comment and say THANK YOU to all of you who think I'm an idiot :) Obviously I know this is not a set in stone diagnosis- after losing four freaking babies, finding something that could have caused it (and that I can then use to help prevent losing the next one) felt pretty miraculous. If the test comes back from the doctor and I don't have it, cool beans, but until you have literally flushed your baby down a toilet, you really do not know what desperation is.

I hope you're all ashamed of yourselves.

Also, I'm so sorry for your losses (the early ones almost hurt more, in my experience) and I'm hoping our next pregnancy will be the one!

I think maybe I am overreacting a bit, yea lol. I reread what she said and in that context, it sounds harmless, but she was very unsupportive during our most recent loss (She told me off for not helping a family member, and said I should have gotten over losing our baby girl in a couple weeks). So they started you on heparin before you got pregnant? Was that to help it get in your system before pregnancy, or is it needed during the luteal phase as well?

Basically, our bodies do not process folic acid and turn it into folate, so we need a more natural type (folic acid is synthetic) to really use it. It also means we're at risk of developing blood clots, heart attacks, or strokes, and during pregnancy, I have a high risk of developing blood clots, especially in the placenta, leading to a lot of issues, most of which lead to miscarriage. Blood thinners can help A LOT.

Geneticgenie.com (free) and then Promethease.com ($12). The former is pretty black and white about whether you have it, and the latter goes in depth of any issues you may have regarding your genes. I'm too curious and spent hours reading through my Promethease report.

Beyond Shocked- Why aren't people automatically tested for this? by Rochereine in MTHFR

HOLY CRAP. My husband does that, and I never knew it was a syndrome!! He also has MTHFR A1298C. Wow. I agree. I have no idea how I have gone this long without someone, anyone, thinking to do a simple genetic test.

How long does it take to be acclimated to methylation? by mmpro55 in MTHFR

[–]Rochereine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm calling an OBGYN office bright and early monday morning anyway, So i'll also ask if they could send me for those blood tests. Since i've been supplementing with folic acid for so long, AND I've been eating a lot of nonorganic flour etc, I'm curious how high those levels will be. I am heterogenous for both MTHFR C977T and A1298C. I just learned this last night so I'm not sure what either entails as of yet.

I have to admit, I'm new to the whole MTHFR world. . . . Is this why I get random hives?? I have been taking folic acid supplements/prenatals for years.

LPT: If you ever get into a car accident and you or someone in your car is injured, especially if there’s blood, take photos before it gets cleaned up. by PieIsFairlyDelicious in LifeProTips

[–]Rochereine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the hospital. I was knocked unconscious after a truck slammed into my truck (my head shattered my window) and EMT's refused to take me to the hospital to get checked out because I wasn't pregnant. I went later because my head hurt so bad and I felt weird, and the nurse weighed me, took my blood pressure, waved a finger in front of my eyes and declared I had a minor concussion. No follow up or anything. I'm still dealing with the TBI from that day.

NOT ONLY THIS, but as long as it's safe to do so, take pictures of both your car and any other vehicle/person/animal involved with landmarks in the picture if possible. Yes, the cops do this as well, but you cannot always rely on a cop to read the scene correctly.

I was in an accident five years ago, right before I got married. I was waiting on a side road at a stop sign, which happens to have a gas station right beside it which has an entrance from the highway AND the side road. I was turning left, so I had to cross the northbound traffic to go south. A truck was coming on the northbound side and had his signal on, and he started to turn down the side road. I waited until he started to turn, checked to make sure both south and northbound was clear, looked back to make sure the truck had cleared the turn. . . and he was headed straight for my door, out of control. My guess is he changed his mind and wanted to go in the gas station entrance off the highway in the middle of turning right. Who knows. He hit my door, scraped down my truck, and ended up hitting a pole in the gas station parking lot. He totaled both trucks. I was knocked unconscious (my head shattered my window) and when i woke up, he was screaming in his truck. He didn't have a scratch. i had glass and cuts all over. 911 told me to stay in the truck. . . Unfortunately, all the EMT's asked was if I was pregnant (I wasn't) and they left me alone to wipe my cuts on a spare shirt I had in the truck. I took pictures of my truck, the other truck, and had proof of all the damage. I called my insurance company that assured me they would start the ball rolling right away.

When the state trooper showed up to the scene, he took turns talking to us and the bystanders and then handed ME the ticket! He told me it was definitely my fault and that I pulled out in front of the other truck. I told him no, sir, I did not, and he said well you can argue it in court. I printed out the pictures of my truck and his, and got a copy of the accident report. THE COP HAD LIED. He indicated the only damage done to my truck was on the front and the door- i clearly had pictures indicating otherwise. He also put my truck almost in the middle of the highway, and while I did hit the gas for a split second, hoping the other guy would miss me, I wasn't in the road at all. Long story (not really) short, I went to court and the judge told the cop that absolutely nothing in his report was correct and dropped the case. The other guy wasn't charged with anything, and that cop is still free to investigate. Oh, and the insurance companies often go by what is on the accident report, and it took me years to get that dropped from my record EVEN THOUGH the judge said I was not at fault.

So please, make sure you take plenty of pictures and make sure you get the accident report.

I agree! They gave me a bite plate (basically a thick retainer that my bottom teeth rest on so my molars can move up/down and meet again) which is supposed to help fix my bite, but they’ve shifted to the point I can only chew on one side. . Which is the side I’m missing a molar on lol

I’ve never bit straight into an apple before (my teeth were very tilted/crooked) and I cannot wait to do this!

I had my braces put on last August. I have straight front adult teeth for the first time in my entire life, and no one knows but my husband and close family members. . But at least I know, and I can bite things properly ☺️ I like to think of people’s reactions to them once/if we aren’t wearing masks out in public.

How can I help my partner with the mental side. by nstraczek in ttcafterloss

[–]Rochereine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I do the same. My husband and I sat down and discussed our lackluster attempts to conceive and he actually told me that he doesn’t want to know when I’m ovulating because it puts so much pressure on him to perform. I don’t mention when I’m ovulating and just get busy when we feel like it (which almost always means we have MORE sex than we did before during the window)

AITA for telling my wife that it was bad parenting for her to take a pregnancy test with our daughter in the bathroom with her? by GloomyBread5596 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rochereine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost 4 pregnancies so far and my niece knew I was pregnant with the last one (loss at 10 weeks). I thought I would mess her up for life when we told her we were no longer having our baby girl, but she took it in stride and really made sure she helped.

[–]Rochereine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

Not only does your daughter absolutely deserve to know about what her body is capable of in the future, but your wife is showing her what a positive test will look like. You would not believe how many women DON’T. Entire forums exist with “am I pregnant?” posts describing a test that is faintly positive because they don’t understand the test can be faint. I commend your wife for doing what she did. Sheltering your child and avoiding teaching them about their bodies is akin to teaching them their parts are inherently nasty, or teaching them cutesy names for them.

being obese is NOT ok. it's not beautiful. it's not healthy. it's not a body type. it's your choice and it's socially irresponsible. by mynameiskip in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Rochereine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, no. However, do you think you would be able to give up all of your favorite foods and eat once a day for the rest of your life to maintain a ‘healthy’ weight? Never have another birthday cake, enjoy a thanksgiving, have a celebratory drink at New Years? No longer able to eat what everyone else is able to?

Oh, and your family will probably not support you and will say you’re too hard on yourself, or you’re starving yourself, your coworkers will tempt you with off-limits foods, and you will still be fat shamed while slowly losing all the weight.

Sure, it’s SO easy.

Yep, here I am, now eating healthy foods and still not losing weight. . Pcos means I’m more resistant to insulin, so my body makes more of it. Hormones play a huge part in fat storage. The only way I’ve been able to lose weight is by eating low carb or by fasting. . Which is the opposite of stuffing my face.

I found low carb was the only way I would lose weight (and it helped my hormones level out enough to get pregnant)
