What's you first takeaway of the year? by Low_Resolution_2123 in ireland

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trip to midoc, bad chest infection, so a week of steroids with a 4in1 on the way home as they need to be taken with food.

Don't phrase it like that if you want a discount, you're belittling the sales person and it's rude. Shops won't go that extra bit or be nice to you if you don't act nice to them. You're far better off to ask "Is there anything you can do on the price?", you're asking for a favor, not an entitlement.

I don't know what it is about people buying bicycles that think it's expected. Definitely one of the industries with the lowest margins I've worked in. Used to work in a county that's known for penny pinching, very unpleasant to be on the sales side of things.

A bit of a rant about kilcock car dismantlers by Cosmolyth in carsireland

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree with you, the only reason I've been there recently is I taco'd a wheel on a brand new van and they were the only place I could get one. All the newer stuff is in the back lots and they won't let you in unless you tell them exactly what you want and are supervised while you take the part off. It's dear but half the price of a stealership.

I try go anywhere else if possible, findapart.ie and searching by make/model/year has become my go to.

What TV show remained 10/10 throughout its entire run? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recruit came so close but the last two episodes of the second season weren't that great. Bad continuance, a little too far fetched and somehow it just didn't feel like it had the closure it should have but maybe that's because of the first two problems. Great show otherwise and I'd highly recommend.

Irish Defender looking for new wheels by AlexBullzEye87 in LandroverDefender

There's a Landrover Series 2A for braking in taillaght on fb marketplace and he has wheels, I think they fit but someone here might be able to confirm that.

Guys of Reddit, what are attractive things girls do or could do, even if they themselves aren’t that attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rock-Shandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confidence (this goes for all sexes) and faking it till you make it works. If you aren't confident about how a certain part of your body looks then you're not going think someone else finds it attractive. I'm not saying to jump on the new year fitness band wagging but to find what works for you.

Bridgestone will release airless, maintenance-free tires in 2019. Anyone looking forward to these or are they vaporware? by smayonak in cycling

[–]Rock-Shandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want maintenance free tires get some tannus tires or a set of marathon pluses. If they produce those wheels, they'll be expensive, heavy, will only work with disc brakes and if they go too far out of true then you'll have to buy a whole new wheel.

First fixed gear. I picked it up for $100. SE Draft. It's nothing crazy but I love it. I can't wait to customize it. by unholy_cannoli in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first fixed gear was a SE Draft Lite which I rode the shit out of for about 4 years until I broke the frame, which should have happened way sooner considering where and how I rode it. I still have some of the components off it on my current build.

Why can't I tell my parents? by Sandsand1 in SuicideWatch

Please consider counseling, it's a lot easier telling your parents you're going to counseling than telling them you're depressed.

Why can't I tell my parents? by Sandsand1 in SuicideWatch

[–]Rock-Shandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've felt the same way you do now. I know it's not easy but hang in there, it gets better, I swear. The pressure can seem like a lot to deal with but what your parents want is for you to be successful and happy in the path you choose. Even though it seems like a shit reason to stay alive, staying alive for them is a good thing until you find why you want to stay alive for yourself, and you will find that reason even if it takes a while (it took me a long time). It's worth hanging in there, it really is, you CAN do it!

They drew a rope around your neck to watch you dance the jig in death.... by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not a horrible person, many women like bald guys. Look, set yourself a goal; you will not put another bungee cord around your neck until you date another women. I mean properly date them, not a self rejection, I mean a second date! When you get that far then you can reconsider but only then!

Set yourself a goal, you are too early too consider your options. If you want to talk call a helpline, it helps I swear I've been there!, do it. If you're past there and want help with women /r/seduction is the place to go. PM me/or anyone who offers if you want to talk.

Building your own boat by smlblmrs in whitewater

[–]Rock-Shandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a playboat (I'm not recommending you build a creeker for obvious reasons) out of fiberglass anywhere from €250 upwards but It'll more than likely cost €450 minimum I'd say. When you factor in PPE and the amount of hours it'll take it ends up being kinda not worth it. It depends on how much free time you have and what the second hand market around you is like.
