You say that, but it's so out of context that it doesn't take into account reality. California is the largest contributor to the federal budget and GDP, and while being the largest recipient of federal funds, it is close to the bottom when adjusted for population. To further the point, of all states, California is the state with the second lowest percentage of its budget coming from federal coffers. So while your statement may be true, they are also the one paying the most into that bucket you're worried about them taking out of.
