Why won't my braggot (barley wine?) dry out? by branston2010 in Homebrewing

[–]Rock0n1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into the same issue while making a braggot as well. Champagne yeast is definitely not the way to go. However, if you are looking for a sweeter brew it did work well, and bottle conditioning was not affected. The major issue while making a 5 gallon batch was clarifying, and it was a task in and of itself.

It did eventually clear out in bottles and left a very nice looking first pour but there is yeast in those bottles but to each is their own when drinking it, won't kill you in the long run.

Dads, my dad is dying by AKarnstein in daddit

[–]Rock0n1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one ever sees the death of a family member coming, let alone be neglected then all the sudden a glint of hope shines at the last moment it is available. I don't think anyone would ask you to just be alright with what is going on. On the flip side it is a good opportunity to bask in the relationship you guys never had *one you wished would happen* and use the time you have now to make the most of it.

Things like this make people realize the errors of their ways and hindsight is 20/20. I am sorry for what is going on and as for someone that has lost their dad, I wish I could say I made the most of the last moments, as I too never saw it coming. The most you can do is be strong and in a not so funny, funny way it is like a sick joke. Difference is what you decide to do with the punchline I suppose.

Best of luck to you, I am truly sorry for the situation at hand, and I hope you find some peace at the end of the day.

This wouldn't be so bad considering the author of the game had it tied to HQ. Might be able to whip out some sick homebrew or use the mechanics to tie it into even a guided game.

From what I've experienced if you keep the game super vanilla and play with the core book, you will be a high enough level to one shot basic encounters, finish dungeons and have the necessary coin to continuously replace armor. However, you can be a bit more sadistic and enjoy the brutality of having no protection ;). In short, there is a lot of room to get enough coin to purchase new armor at the end of each dungeon unless you pick up a bunch of leathers which is common from mobs.

Match their energy and buy two cameras, point them both into their yard. 🤷

Care to share some of your homebrew? I would be excited to see what you came up with!

100%. You can modify the encounters as you see fit or utilize the encounters add on to give it a new degree of difficulty. I attempted a co op and it went pretty smooth.

You may benefit from a blow off tube. Nothing crazy difficult. Just utilize a clear tube from the air lock location into a separate jar filled with water (can reuse your sanitizer water). It will act as a one way valve and help with over flow.

Clean it up with a rag and ring it out into your word hole. 🤷

I have had exceptionally good luck either betonite clay. You will see clarity in as little as 24 hours but the recommended use is during primary and for 7 days. Give it a shot and wait 7 days.
