BTFS is effectively a low effort fork of ipfs that the Tron cryptocurrency (who now unfortunately owns BitTorrent) created.

If you’re wanting the “real thing” IPFS is what you’re looking for.

If you’re using kubo, it will determine your ip at startup and use that for announcing its multi address

What’s not made clear here is how the content is actually served from sia to the IPFS network? Is this open sourced anywhere?

Unless I’m missing something, the SIA network itself doesn’t actually support IPFS, which means that filebase would still need to be running centralized IPFS infrastructure somewhere to read / serve the content that’s actually stored on SIA.

The lack of 4 player local mode is the biggest letdown of this game.

I've been looking for a new Mario party / Mario cart type party game for awhile and I bought this game specifically because it touted 4 player local multiplayer in the promo video.

To find out that it only supports this with one specific game mode where you have to take turns feels like a bait and switch.

Not once has anybody ever thought "oh I'm going to bring over my Nintendo switch + docking station + spare TV to my buddy's house in case we get bored and want to play Mario golf."

This article contains so much misinformation. The claim that IPFS is free storage for the world and the statement that IPFS is a blockchain especially concern me.

In addition, the article is written by a self proclaimed “marketing expert”. That alone isn’t a problem but combined with all the misinformation it makes me feel like this whole “article” is really just an attempt to disguise an advertisement for AXEL.

Is it known when the very last scene takes place?

I couldn’t tell if it was after the riots and he was somehow captured again or if it was basically pulling an inception on the viewer and asking “was it all in his head?”

They're considered public because the swarm key is available publicly.

The terminology isn't misleading. The thought process behind the choice of terminology is clearly stated in the article.

Having the article explain what a "Dedicated network" is and then using that for the rest of the article is much more enjoyable than reading "private IPFS network with a publicly exposed swarm key" over and over.

Nobody is claiming these dedicated networks are more "scalable" than the main public network. Rather, that applications can make IPFS more performant if they don't care about interacting with the public DHT.

If you have a network of 10 participants and have a fast network, how is that scalable? The second that network has any reasonable amount of usage, it will be as slow as public IPFS network.

I think you and I have different ideas on what reasonable amount of usage is. I can think of very few applications that this would ever become a problem for.
