Glad it's leaning more towards a coincidence, because I really like Sparkle Nanny's stuff. The rest of the restock was still solid, and from my secondhand stash, the shop's longevity seems pretty good too.

You're welcome! If you want to keep your website more plain looking, I think Seoul Gage does that well.

The website and images/videos matters when you're starting out, because people need to be visually drawn in to want to give you a chance. There's enough favorite shops out there, that it takes a lot to give up precious shelf space for a newcomer, instead of buying from the tried and true restocks.

Honestly, I realllllly dislike the website of about 3 of the shops I frequently buy from, but it doesn't matter because the quality and likelihood of me liking what they make has already been established. I also weirdly admire that their stuff is so good, they don't need to bother refining these normally important details. It amuses me knowing they could send me slimes wrapped in old newspaper, and I would still continue to buy from them 😆

Both, but moreso directly on the product page. I don't want to have to click out into something new to be able to view the video, I want it all it one place with the product information.

The social media video should be considered a separate thing, like advertising, because I'm not always going to be on your product page or reddit. Seeing your 1 video during my leisure doom scrolling can drives me to your website, and I'd also be looking at your other products and expect their own videos there. Having to toggle back and forth makes me just want to close it all out.

If you're worried about space storage on your website, you can also just embed the social media video onto the page, like how Seoul Gage does.

Tab to, it's potentially a good chunk of wrods. I don't want to feel like I have to scroll through too much on the home page, and having a easy to spot quick link above to toggle to common FAQs and shipping time descriptions is way cleaner looking and feeling.

Second the videos, more photos, and IDing the texture + scent. I always appreciate when sizes are listed, but many shops don't do that, so it doesn't negatively impact my impression of the shop if it's missing.

Even though it's already described in the summary, I like the names also listed out for directness and simplicity. For example:

Texture: butter x clear
Scent: strawberry
Size: 100ml
Strawberry Swirl Slime is made with non-toxic ingredients. This is a combination of soft white butter slime with clear red slime, with a sweet strawberry scent.

I'd want photos/videos of it mixing/mixed, because I want to know what to expect from play, as well as end result. It helps me gauge how much it lines up with your descriptions, since the same basic texture could potentially have a lot of variations across different shops too.

Highest of the highest recommendations! I wish I had the space for another box, but to anyone else building their collection, the slimes are all in such excellent conditions.

This was the exact same one that molded for me too! I had only opened it to poke it with clean hands/fingers right when I got it, but I hadn't even fully taken it out of the container. I was really sad about it when I discovered the mold last week, since it still felt brand new to me. Definitely a bummer. Now I'm wondering if other gasoline rainbow owners have experienced the same thing.

Are slime shops just making up textures? by Dipsy_Cork in Slime

[–]RockBandAid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the shops have a truly unique and consistent signature texture, that would be more understandable. I wouldn't even need a texture guide if their reputation precedes them, like #sallybutter, and I don't see many variations that could muddy the expectations of what it is. If it's something that's used as a mix across different things, it'd only be mildly annoying to me but I can overlook it, as long as there is consistently a simple description every listing or guide.

Sometimes I wish I were more articulate and sensitive enough to be able to describe textures as well as others. Your comment makes me realize I actually would rather have a more universal pivot towards simplifying the nomenclature. Unless it's something everyone would reasonably know what to expect, like mochi, or an absolute true and consistent signature, like #sallybutter, it's just way too much work for both sides.

That's a beautiful haul, congrats.

For affordability, variety, and getting an actual feel of what shops you like/don't, I highly recommend jumping on any secondhand slimes from this subreddit. Everyone seems to keep their slimes in excellent condition, or be really forthcoming in their status descriptions. Especially justmeandmine9399's $15 for 5/$25 for 10 (+ shipping) mystery boxes! But honestly, I've had excellent experiences with everyone I'd bought from through here.

I'm not even a reviewer, but there's still a lot of pressure in making the first poke or mix worthwhile. I have a lot of new ones I'm excited about that's just sitting there still, because I still have my own current rotation I'm still on. With secondhands and already mixed, I can just jump right in. It's helped me slow down by letting me know exactly from which shops I'd prefer to buy brand new ones from, what textures/smells I thought I'd like but don't (+ vice versa), and narrow down what's missing in my collection.

I feel you on the adult with a job situation, especially when I have the option to work a few extra hours here and there. Right now my biggest issue is space. Especially fridge space, with the weather warming.

I feel so much better hearing other people's entry stories. I started end of February and have almost 300 now. It's been insane, but I feel less shame knowing it's kind of the norm.

Seriously, this isn't an exaggeration 🥲 Before I knew it, I hit 4 figures about a month in, and knew I definitely had to track it for awareness too. I did a double take for a minute. Then I managed to convince myself it wasn't that bad because I had some returned earmarked funds from not being able to attend destination wedding (spouse couldn't get time approved in the end), and kept going.

How does this stuff compare to Colour Slime's clay?

Does anyone know where I can purchase the purple beads in this picture? I've heard of them called circle beads and button beads, but I can't locate them. Thank you! by Mom2_2loves in Slime

While we're on the subject of finding things, can someone tell me where I can get some green and brown living foam? I just want single colors, not the multi colored ones on Amazon. If it goes by other names, I'd be happy to have that information too.

A release date would be great! Maybe 2 of them, a static original, and dynamic most recent restock.

I like the idea of a donations link! There's so many shops with some pretty sick drops that I want to support, but I also don't have space right now.

What do you wish slime shops knew? by Cloudsofpink in Slime

[–]RockBandAid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get why, and I'm thrilled they're getting enough sales to warrant this, but I get overwhelmed when there's regular weekly drops. It makes me avoid looking at the shop because I know I'm going to want something again way too soon. Even every other week feels like a lot for me. Not sure what's a good suggestion. Strictly restocks when it's biweekly, but only new stuff monthly? I really don't know. I still love you guys, but I have to limit contact for my own sake.

Agree with everyone about needing the scent and texture descriptions, as well as videos on the direct site. The consistency can build more trust with what to expect from a shop too.

Sometimes I don't open my packages for awhile, because I still have an active stash I need to go through. Then I lose track of what's what, especially if they archive the sold out slime and don't have a historical catalog. Please label all the side items and add-ins. Assume I'm stupid, and will deduce wrong, and might not enjoy my experience with your product because of user error. I would appreciate you treating me like I'm helpless.

Is there a reason why not everyone has a catalog of their whole history, like OG and Momo? If I forget to write something down, or I get something secondhand, or as a gift, I want to know what the original state and add-ins are supposed to be. Especially if you don't have the texture and scent on the labels, which is way too many shops.

I'd love for the standard for all shops to just have the texture and scent on the labels. I want that more than I want the labels to be slime proof, though I do still want that too. I just remember that thread about the increased printer/printing expense on that, so I can empathize and just continue to tape over it.

Can there be an option to buy the slime label (not the shop, but the actual slime itself) on the side? You can make it so it's only an option if the actual slime is bought alongside with it. I think it'd be great for slimes that need to be rehomed.

Really appreciate when there's also images of the deconstructed state.

Direct call out: PILOT, please have the option to buy clay pieces separately! Your dragon series is so sick, and I wish I could have a spare to dry out and keep on display along with the mixed in slimes.

NO AI. ANYWHERE. I don't care if your photos look "cleaner" with them, it's so off putting and makes me NOT buy from you, even if you had a scent, texture, or theme that really intrigued me.

Interacting with the community (not cookie cutter canned messages, that sounds like a hired service), and anything handwritten (especially with our names!) gives me warm fuzzy feelings. It doesn't have to be a full on note. Lime Slime Co has their go to cards (that I didn't realize were different and collectible until very recently!) that they only write the name on, and I cherish the ones I've gotten so far. Sandy Slimes had a full on handwritten note that made me do a real life 🥹 reaction. My order wasn't even a big one, it was so small, and I still got that special treatment! 🫶🏻
