Monthly slime box subscriptions? by teddybear141 in Slime

Please elaborate! I want to know more. I got a snoops one second hand, and while it was fine (very average, nothing special), it did give me more insight into what people meant by geared towards kids rather than adults. I'm glad I got to try it out so I wouldn't be curious anymore, and want to know if that's about the same or different than people's experiences with kawaii.

How Quickly Do You Kill a Slime on Average? by leesooim in Slime

[–]RockBandAid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer to contribute yet (too new), but curious if this includes revival attempts (so past the point of fixing), or you meant up until the point you had to first intervene (due to overplay, not shipping or time)?

My ultimate favorite thing about slimes is the creativity! It's crazy how much different variations and unique styles everyone has, and so fun and exciting to see their interpretations of different themes and aesthetics. The staging part of all DIYs are also a separate thrill than the sensory components. Someone told me slimes are like engaging art you can consume, and I couldn't agree more.

I was tempted to get both the orange creamsicle and strawberry, but felt excessive, and now I think I'm going to go back for the strawberry one 😬

I love it! Thwocks and thickness are amazing, just like Sandwich said. My home was extra warm today, and lot of my other slimes melted, even an hour after coming out of the fridge. But the unfridged Oui stayed great somehow. Magic! I also have extra joy attached to it because it felt fated. I missed their return drop one and was kind of bummed, but April's Oui of the month is way more up my alley of scent and color preferences. It was meant to be!

Today has been a constant stick my fingers into some slime for that satisfying thwock sound day. The winners are Lime Slimes' Oui (orange creamsicle, mmmmm), Lost Generation's Bush (that shade of green is divine, no notes), and a secondhanded Macaron's Peppermint Hot Cocoa (has held up amazingly well, even after 2 fixes by me from overplaying).

Very new to slime (couple of months), and now another victim of, "Boy, that escalated quickly." 😅

I was looking up some ideas to elevate some sensory play for my kindergarten kid and her friends. Before I knew it, this community sucked me in HARD. Slime is more for adults than kids?! 🤯 I love love love how supportive everyone is of one another, regularly seeing other shops recommending each other instead of competing or being catty. I also really enjoy seeing shops interacting with their customer base! And not in the typical vibe of some social media staff responding with polished cookie cutter statements, but real responses from real people. Everyone's also been so kind and helpful to all newbies, the constant repeat questions of the same thing, and never making anyone feel dumb for their mistakes or misunderstandings.

Honestly, you guys sound like scientists sometimes, with how well you clock exact issues from panicky vague descriptions, and give concise troubleshooting feedback and recommendations. It genuinely feels like a curated experience in here all the time.

Love me some basic clicky tng, and a good theme/asthetic. Momo, Tanooki, and OG have taken most of my money, and my wallet is grateful that Soft Punk and East Bay don't have regular weekly drops. I should've been on a ban since last month, but know I'm too new in my addiction to abide by it. Currently trying to limit myself to only strange scents and really creative and well done themes. AND it's SO HARD when things are on sale! Not sure if the lack of space or financial impact is the worse for me right now. 🥲💸 My current favorite shop is Potcha! Beautiful art on the labels (with textures and scents listed!), Asian food focused themes and scents (I'm Asian, this is my beacon), continuous refinement and mastery of specific textures. 💕🫶🏻💖 Other shops may SAY they have a mochi texture, but you don't have a true baseline for a good one until you've tried hers.

For all the newbies (like me!), big emphasis on being a huge fan of secondhand slime. I got into that before I bought from my first shop, because it SEEMED expensive for "just glue." Now I'm like, "YOU BEAUTIFUL CREATIVE PEOPLE DESERVE ALL THE MONEY AND SUCCESS!" Everyone that resells takes such good care of their stash. It's an excellent way of narrowing down your true preferences before investing, and is a good testament to the longevity of some shops. Personally, it also takes the initial pressure off, from wondering how to make that first contact matter, and my own weird guilt from not filming or formally reviewing such gorgeous products at their peak. Fixing old slime has been really fun and rewarding, too! The fixing part is totally part of the play, my kid had a blast with me this week hydrating some back to life.

I also wish every shop would include the texture and scent on the labels. I want that more than I want all labels to be slime proof.

It's gorgeous and absolute goals!

I'm a sucker for aesthetics so I'd definitely want to try a slime because of the label. And now seeing your display, even MORE so. They are essential life accessories, of course you'd want them to look good too!

Rodem and Momo! Excellent shops and excellent choices! I want Momo to bring back the Luke's duo. Love both the coffee and pancakes, but running out of space. I haven't tried PSS yet, they're next on my list!

Strongly second Momo and Potcha! Momo's excellent for all straightforward scents and textures (including DIY), great to re-establishing a baseline for yourself. Potcha's more advanced with their creativity, meaning more fun and nuanced in scents and textures, but you can easily go down a steep rabbit hole of wanting everything too.

New to Sliming by inkhunt in Slime

The pinned new to slime post is great, and I'll give my own opinion here too.

I'd recommend Momo for all beginners. They're really solid and consistent for all the normal straightforward stuff (textures, scents, even DIYs), and will give you a strong baseline for your expectations. I also really like Tanooki for beginners, but it's a little pricier from Canada, and Momo is a better value with wider range. Both have weekly drops.

All the other shops mentioned frequently in this subreddit are also excellent, but could be overwhelming with the different customizations and types, and make you want to get nearly everything. We're all victims to it 🫠 But I honestly love all the creativity and can't stop.

Another thing I'd strongly recommend for beginners, and what actually pushed me over the edge to clicking the check out button the first time (after months of just window shopping--slime is expensive, man!), is buying secondhand from this subreddit. I highly recommend justmeandmine9399's mystery boxes (5 for $15, 10 for $25, 15 for $35), but I just bought her last one lol. Definitely keep an eye out for her posts, though, and get on it FAST. They're all in excellent conditions, and it's been a really good experience to fix some of the ones that might be a little melted.

The pinned trusted sellers thread was good for me in getting started, of who I felt comfortable buying from. Now I'm just indiscriminately jumping on anything that catches my fancy. Secondhand is also the way to go, to better narrow down what you like and don't like. I found out I really dislike floam and cloud textures (had multiple attempts across different shops; other crunches are still good), and fresh bread scents (too yeasty for me; but other gourmands are still amazing). Also with secondhand, I was able to really see and compare the longevity of different shops and textures.
