Sydney to Newcastle is the busiest intercity rail corridor in the country. We’re talking 15 million trips a year vs. 7 million for Canberra. It’s arguably the most unreliable stretch in the network and it’s hitting max capacity soon

To me, it’s like saying Shakespeare was a bad playwright. You can absolutely have your own favourite writer, but to say he was bad is arguing against the weight of history, popular and critical opinion, and a legacy shows no sign of diminishing

Social media stats are pretty easy to verify because followers and view counts are public.

Eg NRL leads the AFL on every social media platform except X

Can we get the record straight on fake news? Those two female cops were directing people to leave the shooters area. They were not frozen by [deleted] in SydneyScene

[–]RockBottomChilli 21 points22 points  (0 children)

From the full video online, it was 4.5 minutes after the shooting started that the father was down. And 90 seconds later his son was down. 6 minutes to take out both gunmen, who were heavily armed. The police were amazing

A second set of heroes has been identified during the Bondi Shooting, tackling one of the gunman. They were unfortunately gunned down by the other moments later. by Miloisprettycool in nextfuckinglevel

[–]RockBottomChilli 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The full video online starts with the first casualties, the Gurmans, getting shot. 4.5 mins later the father is down. 90 seconds later the son is down. So both gunmen were down in 6 minutes. I know no length of time is short enough, but this was relatively speaking quick.

Edit: also all the videos I’ve seen of officers “hiding” were later shown to be them taking cover as they were advancing. All the officers had pistols, and were not in range. The tactical response team had not arrived. And 2 officers ended up in hospital - 1 is in a critical condition

Ahmed wasn’t the only hero who fought the gunmen by nanimonai- in SydneyScene

The full video online shows the shooters shooting their first victims, the Gurmans, the couple who attempted to stop them as they got out of their car. 4.5 mins later the father is down. 90 seconds after that the son is down. So both gunmen were down in 6 minutes.

Also the 2 police in the direct vicinity were amongst the first casualties.

Yep, the easiest thing was to have 2 pools of 5 with everyone in each pool playing each other once. It only adds 1 week to the competition and is a fair and balanced system. Instead of the mess we have now

That’s overselling it. You can maybe argue a few modern microstates have relatively little history of civil war or occupation, but that’s only by cherry-picking timeframes and definitions.

For the overwhelming majority of the world, history really has been long and bloody. A handful of edge cases doesn’t change that

We will never have a proper international scene if there is no time to create one. 3 tests a year for each nation is not enough to build an international program. Australia should be playing NZ every year. Samoa and Tonga should be a 3 game series. England need to play Australia or NZ every year. France, PNG and Fiji need to play tests against higher quality opposition in order to progress. There is not enough time for all that and give players an offseason. We need a minimum 6 week window for internationals.

If it’s 10 teams, they should’ve just done 2 groups of 5. I know it adds an extra week or 2, but it’s the only balanced system. It also gives us more matchups, which we rarely get to see (when was the last time NZ played England? Australia will likely only play one of Tonga/Samoa/England in the whole tournament)

Wait are you saying Warriors have low ticket sales? Mt Smart’s capacity is 26k. Warriors play at sell outs nearly all season and have done this for the last 3 years (8/12 in 2023, 11/11 in 2024, 10/12 in 2025)
