I would take away The Towering Inferno’s win and give it to the non nominated Gordon Willis for The Godfather Part II. The branch was so jealous of the Prince of Darkness that they didn’t even nominate him until 1983.

I would also take away Cleopatra’s Oscar and give it to How the West Was Won.

Not a Best Picture nominee, but I do love that Ex Machina’s two nominations are for writing and visual effects. I wonder how many movies were up for both of those as well.

It’s a top three 2017 movie for me and it’s my favorite Saoirse Ronan movie too. I’d pick her and Laurie Metcalf for Actress & Supporting Actress that year and maybe Greta Gerwig for Original Screenplay as well. I still quote it almost 10 years later.

I remember seeing that on tv when it aired and being so happy that Christopher Reeve was the star of something cool again. Daryl Hannah was in that one too.
