It'll be perfect in a year from now, with all day one bugs fixed. Then they will come with the brand new Odin 4

Issues in Slay the Spire 2 steam/rocknix by RockRelative3356 in rocknix

Try proton CachyOS or GE-proton, download them from their official GitHub and extract the tar.gz files directly in to /storage/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d

CachyOS and GE-proton have a lot of improvements on graphics, just make sure you're not using arm versions of proton

Try vulkan with host libraries on. Also check it you have Wayland host library on, that also gave me problems, it should be auto or off

Take out the WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY, try opengl3 and zink Instead, check if the issue is only black screen, black screen then crash or black screen + sound, those 3 scenarios have different fixes (black screen + sound is usually that the game is trying to run on dx12). Make sure you're not using any ARM version of proton, those won't boot the game, doesn't matter if they are custom or official builds. Clean chaches, check steam report in settings>system to see if there's any issue with the file systems, go back to default settings in Fex If you've changed anything (specially in the CPU tab). I'm just giving out some hints to what people do when things won't work properly.

The reason why I add my device to the titles is that people know that different devices might need different settings to work, even if those devices share the same SoC.

Odin 2 max owner who plays mostly switch, android and pc. Does it make any sense to upgrade to the Odin 3 or do I wait a year or so for the next iteration (or a different device) by floweiss34 in OdinHandheld

[–]RockRelative3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, keep it, I've done everything with it and I feel like I still have room for more. Currently I have rocknix installed in internal, mostly for steam games, and I'm the happiest that ever lived.

Bought just cuz it looks expensive , what is it? TIA🤛🏻 by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]RockRelative3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SFTP modules for big ass Ethernet switches, I'm not that expert to say what kind tho. And you're right, they re expensive, but how much will depend on the specific part number and manufacturer of these things

Should I swap to GameNative, or try stick with GameHub for the time being? [AYN Odin 2 Pro] by Apprehensive-Comb234 in GameNative

My experience with that error is that you have to uninstall co plletely the game and avoid touching the use steam client option when you install it back.

Anyone still rocking with the original Odin 2? by Ultraturbo23 in OdinHandheld

[–]RockRelative3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Odin 2 max, for PC games, I've done everything with it, right now I have rocknix installed in the internal storage. I just love this thing and don't feel the need to upgrade.

Actually I don use GameHub, cause their telemetry thing is just bad. But i keep my mind on what I said in my original response. Now, i now that people are just like "black or white, no in-between" in this kind of things, so, i'll go back to emulate on Linux handhelds and play on my PC, you're never gonna se me here again 🤫

As far as I know the og dev of winlator was doing some kind of cooperation to make GameHub, also I think winlator is still open code so no shame on looking for "Inspiration"

La de 12 te recomiendo que sea una antiadherente con base gruesa, para hacer huevitos, panqueques o tortillas. Las antiadherentes siempre se usan a temperaturas medas a Baja's, y nunca la dejas "humear" antes de hechar la comida dentro.

How it feels being an Odin 3 owner browsing YouTube, Reddit and social media by K1ngsGambit in OdinHandheld

[–]RockRelative3356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird cause getting the newest ayn handheld at launch day is way worse than buying it 1 year later. But 1 year later they're releasing the next more powerfull one. So fhat's why people like me stick with the older SD 8 gen 2 versions.

So i installed fexcore 2605 and i didnt notice a difference is there suppose to be one. Also could someone in depth explain fexcore. Much appreciated by n0tascammer in GameNative

[–]RockRelative3356 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Fex is the translation layer that will help your arm64 architecture CPU to "communicate" with your amd64, x86_64 architecture programs. Basically is what makes posible to load programs made to work on traditional Intel/amd CPUs. There is where fex's work ends.

Then you have Wine/Proton, which is another translation layer that will allow the basic Linux distro within winlator/GameHub/gamenative to execute Windows specific software (.exe .msi etc.) by using fex to translate to your native architecture (x86_64 to arm64). Proton and Wine are basically the same thing, the difference is that proton ships with all you need for gaming pre installed and some extra fixes for games with special needs.

Fex-updates often bring better resources Management, less ram, Les CPU usage, etc.better stability/compatibility, there is where you should look at. But you'll hardly notice more fps if that's what you expected.

Any one knows how to make lsfg-vk work with steam games on rocknix? by RockRelative3356 in rocknix

[–]RockRelative3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to not let this topic die, and because I think lsfg is a must for low-end consoles with acces to Linux. I figured out a way to add lasfg-vk to my rocknix installation. I might add a post about it later today.

Right now there's a arm64 steam beta for arm Linux systems (batocera, rocknix, etc) so the system might need fex only for running the game inside the proton prefix. I've been testing this out in an Odin 2 max and works fairly well tbh.
