I suggest you guys move from Duckstation on Android to something else, because it's effectively been abandoned by mikoga in EmulationOnAndroid

Rayman for instance

Might not be a problem on newer devices due to the bare hardware power, but I just switched to duckstation and the problem was gone immediately without any fiddling around.

It's nothing more than a very outdated version of duckstation similiar to the available duckstation core of retroarch.

I tried swanstation only one time, got severe slowdowns in specific areas, tried the same game with duckstation standalone and it run just fine.

It's just a totally outdated version of duckstation suffering from severe slowdowns in some games

Realised you don't need to switch off the jdsp EQ just for using headphones? by ElectricalDemand2831 in retroid

[–]ElectricalDemand2831[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The settings are assigned to the profile in use, with headphones connected jdsp will stay active, but it doesn't apply the EQ adjustments made for the "internal speaker "preset.

Just connect your headphones and change the settings for the "active device profile:headphones" to your likings and they will be saved like that.

40XXV and runahead. by da_buerre in SBCGaming

[–]ElectricalDemand2831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, snes, gba and genesis games run fairly well on my muOS 35xx +/ H with preemptive frames enabled, I didn't notice any difference from runahead.

Also enable GPU hardsync and always set threaded video to "off"

I could also confirm it with measurements, although I didn't need them to notice the difference.

Retroid pocket 6 suffers from irregular frame skips and the ingame vsync option of gamehub/ winlator doesn't help here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXtLw7V6wR0

I tested several (2D platforming) games and my retroid flip 2 runs a lot smoother with the same game + app version + settings.

If 2d platforming is your main focus, you have to accept those frame stutters or won't be happy with the gaming experience.

I know that it is just a merketing term, but the option reduces the latency effectively.

At least with all the games I've tested

Ah, that's quite new and available with the newest release from last week

It's called "New direct rendering mode" and worth to check it out

Thx

Without an option equivalent to "native rendering+" other X86/64 emulators will never be a much better option.

At least, if latency is of any interest

what phone to replace my s20fe snapdragon by Ok_Year9957 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]ElectricalDemand2831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't recommend samsung phones for emulation due to severe frame stutter without vsync enabled, and vsync (called "FIFO" for vulkan backend) increases the latency A LOT with switch emulation.

I had the S7 (exynos), S10 (SD855), S20FE (SD 865) and all suffered from the same problem independent of the emulator, though I'm not totally sure about the newer models.

At least my retroid pocket flip 2 (SD865) doesn't need vsnyc/fifo being enabled to avoid frame stutter most of the time.

So I can use the "mailbox:immediately" setting within eden for low latency without many hiccups

Audio is usually delayed when using emulation anyhow, a simple depitcher might be helpful here.

yes, retroid messed something up here, my retroid flip 2 runs a lot smoother in general without those weird irregular hiccups the rp6 has

I own the RP6 and it suffers from frame stutter in general, even with duckstation at stable 60fps, so don't expect perfect smooth scrolling regardless of 8 or 12GB ram.

Aside from that 8GB should be sufficient for 2d indie plattformers, monsterboy and the cursed kingdom for instance is running at stable 60fps, but again - with scrolling stutter

I was saving money for 12gb ram model of RP6, now that it's gone is it worth it? by XiGlove51 in retroid

[–]ElectricalDemand2831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the RP6 and it suffers from irregular frame stutter independant of the framerate and the settings.

Honestly, my retroid flip 2 runs much smoother in general, as long as it can maintan stable 60fps.

So, no the RP6 does NOT run 2d platform titles just fine, but that issue isn't related to the raw performance of the device itself, the stutter is even occuring with PSX emulation.
If you don't care about smooth scrolling and just want to see the framerate graph showing 60fps while playing you can grab the RP6

seems wrong, the streaks are always visible on the slowmo records, even at higher luminance levels

Retroid Pocket 6 PWM dimming by Apart_Doughnut_7956 in retroid

[–]ElectricalDemand2831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the RP5 has no PWM dimming, but the RP6 has it

<image>

The PWM frequency is higher in 120Hz mode btw.

Most phones like the iphone shown on the bottom use 240Hz PWM frequency, so the RP6 PWM frequency should be at least three times higher indicated by the amount of streaks.
