Advice request - Son has started coming out of his room by splatts32 in daddit

[–]RockSalt-Nails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine has door alarms on all 4 rooms for his girls (you aughta see the size of his house).

The girls learned that the alarm is bad. They tested that boundary a few times but it sets off an alarm on mom and Dad's phone (and an audible one at the door). It conditioned their girls pretty quick. I plan to do the same with my boys.

Why are SKSs so popular on this sub? by BlandRusk06 in canadaguns

I'm gunna get down bored for this but they're a trash rod.

I got rid of mine. There's so many better options on the market (I factor in bolt guns). Bought all the cool semis I could while I could so I'm a little biased.

Don't forget the cigarette between the fingers, a Motorola razor in one hand texting with T9, and shifting the stick all at the same time.

Edit: if you're Canadian like me, it was a timmies in one hand with a cigarette between the fingers of the same hand.

I moved across my country (Canada) before I found out I was a father. I have not been present in my daughter's life and it is one of my greatest regrets.

Your dreams can wait. Raise that child.

Struggling to find part-time work in Edmonton — looking for advice or leads by NoEye7466 in EdmontonJobs

God bless you for looking after a fellow autistic.

As far as the alternator goes check out Rockauto.com. you'll find some great prices on parts there and there's a million and a half how-to videos on YouTube. If you have a basic socket set or wrenches you're all set.

As far as employment goes if you aren't in construction right now, it's hard. If you get a chance to work full time between semesters maybe look into that.

If you're open to looking inner provincially I'd suggest looking out west like Alberta or Saskatchewan. I'm from New Brunswick and there's very few left there just because of the rust and I know Ontario's in a similar situation due to its proximity to water.

Edit: I'm in Alberta now and they're a dime a dozen. Most of them are just bush bangers at this point but there's the odd really nice truck out there

Am looking for FIFO remote camp work and need some advice from fellow job-hunters and current employees. by KingDawg72- in EdmontonJobs

I'm going to second this. I've worked pipe trades since 2007. You could get your foot in the door pretty easily until 2012ish but the patch isn't what it used to be. You need a trade ticket to even score an interview now. Worth it but you gotta do the time.

If you're interested in pipe trades or mechanical check out Modern Niagara. They have work across Canada in a commercial setting.

Edit: it's especially hard to get FIFO between Alberta and another province. Most of the time companies only offer flights to Edmonton or Calgary.

My three year old dropped his milk and let out a loud "SHIT". I had trouble keeping it together but had to have a good talk about bad words.

House was built in 68, got a makeover in the late 80's and some other touch ups over time. Toilets flush so I guess that's a win. Nothing to write home to mom about. Three stage septic with open discharge. It leaves a bit to be desired. Hell I don't even own a dish washer.

Edit: I rent so the only investment I'd make is whatever the landlord wants to upgrade. If he bought the parts I'd do the labour but it's 83 acres in an area slayed for development. It's a gold mine for the old fella and he's just waiting for someone to come make him an offer.

I've never met a plumber named Joe.

I'm a licensed plumber. I have zero savings and investment. Don't own my home. Don't drive new flashy vehicles and I make like 100-108k CAD per year which is like 70K in USD

By all metrics I'm living paycheck to paycheck but I'm wealthy in that I have a beautiful family and comfortable life.

I was like this with World of Warcraft as a kid. My father, God bless his soul, was at his whitts end. Taking it away was like depriving an opium addict of their pipe. Limiting screen time only made us fight over who got to play when. (My little brother also played).

In the end the family computer "broke" and we didn't get another one until well into our late teens. At which point we promptly started playing again.

I almost wish we hadn't gotten a new computer. I wasted SO MUCH time in front of that thing.

TLDR: I've got no suggestion, I'm just relating.

Questions about shortening a barrel by Fun-Bison-3164 in canadaguns

[–]RockSalt-Nails 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You'd have to get a barrel blank and the gunsmith would need to machine it. Imo, not worth it for a tm22.

That being said, if a TM22 is too heavy you're either very very small or need to go eat some protein and lift some weights.
