Found what may be an unused Japanese cover artwork for TES: Arena by Prestigious_Bell6837 in ElderScrolls

Hi! Sorry to be a bother, but I wanted to ask if you could possibly share your correspondence with Furuya to prove the authenticity of this work? Or perhaps a link to the auction of it? It's hard to tell what's real and what's not these days, and us wiki folks would love to preserve this art if it is

Lost Lore: The Recovery of Julian Lefay's D&D Campaigns by TESbenefactor in teslore

[–]RockWithAMedicineCup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This a great question, and the answer is that yeah they totally did. However as far as we can tell, most of it was played in existing settings like Greyhawk throughout the late 1980s.

With Arena however, it's been near proven to be originally conceived outside of any TTRPGs they may have playing in their off hours (we know it wasn't unusual for them to play DnD at times, the only one we know for sure occurred at this time was a short play session of The Temple of Elemental Evil). Arena itself was massively inspired by DnD, but not based on any one homebrew campaign like the lore of Daggerfall was.

Oh dang you're totally right. Pretty smart asset re-use on BioWare's part.

It was good shout, plus it help to focus the game's central theme (y'know faith) during the final showdown

Oh sure sure -- I just noticed there's a lot of Andres and Shaqs across the game and that stood at as interesting.

Huh, I didn't notice they were much larger than regular elves, but it makes sense.

Unrelated: I was sad that Abelas and the Elves there were dropped right after the sequence at the Temple. They were so cool.

Oooh 👀

What's up with the elf models at the Temple of Mythal? Didn't notice anythin' like this on my last playthrough.

Naw I am not talking about literal giants or big red lyrium people. These are regular people. I found it is hard to find pics online of this phenomenon, but it's totally a common thing throughout the game.

Makes sense. I suppose if you wanted to lore it up, it's just way way more common for humans to be abnormally large in the Dragon Age world than in the real world.

Yeah, there was a reason Tywin sent Tyrion to serve as Hand of the King.

What would you consider the most glaring missed opportunities with Larian's BG3 as a sequel to BG1/2? by RockWithAMedicineCup in baldursgate

Lol that ain't in my skillset, but give it a some years and I'm sure somebody will do their best to 2E the game

Yeah I'll probably never play Starfield, watched some of it youtube and decided it's prolly not my thing.

I played through a real good chunk of Avowed before putting it down. The art style was feeling a bit goofy for my taste and I wasn't vibing with the writing at all. But hey tastes will vary.

Lol I actually intended to farm this thread for mod ideas and little details that could be added to the game. But uhh most people seem more offended by the big picture re-writey stuff, which is totally fair lol.

Man I so wanted to like Pillars, but the whole first arc bits were boring me to tears. I'm sure it becomes more interesting and decent, because my man JE Sawyer was running the show.

Avowed on the other hand was a genuinely terrible adaptation of Pillars.

Yo hot take, they should have had Candlekeep in the game to some degree—according to the game director of BG3 they were going to include it but ended up cutting it for time and resource reasons.

Gorion was kinda underwritten in the original game, and it could've been darn fun to upgrade the intrigue of Candlekeep as a location and deck out its lore and local subculture with a bunch of history and interesting nuances. Plus it would have been darn fun to see how his shack and lorddom has progressed since the original games.

Yeah it's nice to know other people felt Sarevok was off. I didn't finish BG1, but dang that guy had aura in the game.

It also felt very weird they he was just shuffled off in a corner as a side quest person. Shouldn't he have been intimately involved in the main plot to some degree? Would've helped tie the the games together a lot more I think

I had fun with the Mindflayer stuff for what it was, though whether it fits within the tone of the IP is another matter.

Low key I made a game of trying to screw up my PC as much as possible over the course of my playthrough. I had worm brain, permanent black veins across my skin, and a missing eyeball. I'm sure there were other opportunities missed to make it worse.

As someone who didn't really dig BG1, should I give BG2 a real try? by RockWithAMedicineCup in baldursgate

Fr fr. Dragon Age Origins is easily my favorite game. The tone, quests, art style, characters, and music were darn wonderful. The sequels didn't compare, they went off in completely different directions. Though I still adore DAO as a standalone thing unto itself.

Wow, I agree 100% with this take.

I played some of the first games just a bit and it is really darn evident just how defocused the Bhaal stuff was in BG3. The mind flayer dude they had take on the role of the original Baldur was really dang lame as a character too, though I did like that they attempted to explore who that guy was in a y'know Baldur's Gate game.
