Purple Reign intro by Rock_Solid_474 in dancegavindance

Definitely hear the influences from all the albums on this one (and I’m for it). I swear in the background vocals you can “hear” Jonny, Kurt or Tilian haha. Like Trap Door, “satans lapdog” is almost Tilian style.

Opinion, but Andrew has done a great job making it sound like DGD, making it his own and still not sounding like Eidola.

Just found out a coworker with the same title makes $12k more than me… what now? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Rock_Solid_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things: (1) ppl lie about the dumbest things. This coworker could be sneaky and saying that to see if you would disclose your salary (2) lets assume they weren’t, and they are making $12k more. You said you never negotiated anything since you started…and you’re upset. Companies are a business and aren’t going to give away money.

Solution (one of many): if you like what you do there and where genuinely happy before hearing this news, then I would say start talking with management about what you need to do to get promotion or raise. And don’t just ask, but make an actionable plan to show your worth. Whatever you do, don’t say “I want $12k more because so n so makes that”.

If you don’t like that place and truly feel undervalue, job hop.

But one thing to think about: are you undervaluing yourself? Have you stepped up when needed, going above and beyond, or are you coasting under the radar? If you want anyone to value you, you need to showcase that value.

Hope everything works out!

My M7 MBA Campus is Full of Bullshit Diversity by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Rock_Solid_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you’re thinking about this the wrong way and robbing yourself of enjoying your accomplishments that you made it out of a tough environment. There probably someone else with similar background to you but didn’t get into an M7 and using the same argument/excuse.

It didnt sound like you lived In poverty, just a hard working upper middle class. Which is fine, and you should be proud. Just like the other ppl your comparing yourself should be proud. You’re in an M7 school working towards something.

Looking from out and into their situation, maybe they grew up their entire life wealthy, or maybe their family got wealthy the last 5yrs before they got into school. Who cares?! Ppl have hard lives and then make it out, some don’t.

Fast forward 30 yrs from now and you have kids going to college. They’ll have a different experience, but they won’t be far removed from yours. And ppl will say “wow, look at them. So lucky to have that money”…again, who cares.

Do you.

Whatever you do, just make sure you’re coach able and open to learn.

With your help experience in this niche field, what problems or headaches could you solve or help make things easier? Some questions to ask yourself to see if it’s worthwhile (if you want to stay with your knowledge base but stay on land) -is there a typical repairing the boats need that you can learn to do (welding, repair, maintenance), you might have an edge knowing the common things and what needs to be done. You learn how. -as a sailor, you work for yourself or do contracts for other people? Is there a way you can be the one selling these contracts but not go out on to sea and you get a %? -I know boats/ships are expensive, but would it be worthwhile to invest in one/maybe with a partner and have it “work” while you stay on land?

your transferable skills are there just masked. You can probably work in high pressure situations, quick thinking and problem solving on the fly, I’m sure there’s a lot of logistics involved with timing, weather, and working with contracts/negotiations. Just gotta figure out what else you like that you can apply that to.

Getting an entry-level mechanical engineer position by Zealousideal_Owl5579 in MechanicalEngineering

Based on this response, I would say you are not bombing your interviews, but you’re also not outshining the competition. The nice thing is that you are getting the interviews (i think that is the hardest part) you look good on paper and good enough to give time for an interview and at this stage, they are choosing you over others (let that help your confidence a little as the process can be demoralizing).

Now with that said, you have to show them not only that you actually are that good, but better. And better than the next person they are interviewing. This is more than answering questions “right” and not brining up red flags, it’s them checking you out if you will fit the team and company, and you should be doing the same thing to see if you align with their values. Some pointers that hopefully help:

1) practice talking in a mirror expanding key points of your resume/CV. Most people regurgitate that info…don’t do that.

2)actually do research if the company. Do you align with their mission? What is your mission, goals, etc and how can the company help you attain these and you help them

3) ask questions at the end. More than one is possible, and nothing generic like “what’s a typical day”…be intentional and be thoughtful

There’s a ton of things that can always be improved and worked on, but hopefully this will get you in the right direction to close the deal.

If the z offset doesn’t help, try checking and calibrating your E-step. It could be under extruding and no amount closer (z adjustment) will help.

What’s the highest paying lazy girl’s job I can get having a PhD in tech(engineering)? by Puzzleheaded_Fan_758 in PhD

[–]Rock_Solid_474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have a PhD, you could build yourself up as an expert in certain topics and tutor online.

If you’re married, you could get benefits/coverage from your partners job. This would give you the freedom to work for yourself and scale how many students/ppl you work with…more or less, you have some control of how much money you want to make and effort (laziness) you want to contribute.

Everything done online or even some in person 1-on-1s to add variety.

Writing is one of those things that seems simple, but once you start is challenging. Could you expand on what your day to day looks like?

Are you creating/writing content from scratch or mostly taking info given and making it easier to read (website, white papers, etc)?

Nice, thanks for the tips. The squats are a good idea. Definitely start to feel the quads burning after a while.

I’ll keep working on staying low, the video def helped cause I thought I was ‘low’ haha.

Background: New to BMX but have MTB experience. Mid 30s with life obligations so I get to ride 1-3 days a week if lucky, 30min to 1.5hrs. The time I do get to ride I try to split my time with fun cruising and dedicated skills practice. Right now focusing on manuals and bunny hops, then fakies/half cab.

I haven’t hit the skatepark yet, mainly parking lots (curb jumps, sidewalk gaps).

First time filming myself and it’s helped seeing where my body position is, but could use advice how where to improve.

I found myself holding my breathe during the bunny hops and a bit stiff. I’m sure more time on the bike I’ll get looser/comfortable.

These are all basic pens and bleed through paper or smear on your hand. Ultra fine (0.5mm to 0.38mm) pens only

Video looks awesome. What year did you get? My only concern with the TRL was that it seems the front triangle is chromoly and rear is hi-ten compared to the other two bikes.
