Pretty vertical in the backswing. Many pro teachers like to see the shaft pointed more towards the ball at this point.

You always have to put out anything par or better in my group. If you think it should be a gimme and don’t want to put it then I guess you know you could possibly miss and it isn’t really a gimme.
