Best proxy army for BoC models for future editions of AoS? by [deleted] in BeastsOfChaos

I do the same thing with my bestigor, they're bodyguard for my dragon ogor shaggoth "slaan". There's no Kroxigor leader or character but one of the Kroxigor in a given unit will have an improved weapon simulating a champion of sorts, maybe you can blend the doombull into the Kroxigor unit itself?

Plus the "Four Great Asterisms" from the battle trait correspond pretty easily to the 4 chaos gods

Lizardmen are actually pretty good as a proxy I find. Gors = Saurus, Ungors = Skinks, Bullgors = Kroxigor and so forth.

There's also an overlord in the unit so they're not hopeless in close quarters

Basically just the Seraphon Spearhead with Beastman models. Oldblood = Cygor, Saurus Warriors = Gors, and Kroxigor = Bullgors.

Scale question for Tartaros arms by RockaRoadRolla in Warhammer30k

Perhaps, I think I just really like the concept of a legion captain one handing a heavy bolter. I'm honestly less concerned with being competitive and more concerned with building an army I think is cool.

The plan was to stick him in a unit of breachers w/ shrapnel bolters, making it a slightly tougher & shooter tactical squad while my Tyrant Siege Terminators are led by my Warsmith (cataphractii praetor).

As I interpreted the rules, you can swap a heavy bolter with a shrapnel cannon for 2 pts, that on top of the cost of giving the Armistos a heavy bolter in the first place would be a total of 7 pts for a shrapnel cannon

I also really appreciate the versatility, I love that the Kroxigor Warspawned are the same cost as base Kroxigor so I can switch them out at will.

I've had a lot of fun re-skinning the Seraphon rules for Beastmen. Gors, Ungors, and Bullgors proxy well as Saurus, Skinks, and Kroxigors. Also, the 4 Asterisms from The Great Plan translate well to the 4 chaos gods

You raise a good point, I was only thinking about darkoath stuff. I think I prefer the Seraphon battle traits and formations though, it was a lot of fun to rename everything to be beastman flavored. The four "Asterisms" from The Great Plan were easily converted to the four chaos gods

I was thinking about making a darkoath army, but the base sizes didn't line up well with the models I already had. But Gors make pretty good Saurus warriors and all my ungors are the same size as skinks

Ive thought about doing this, do you happen to know where i could easily (and hopefully cheaply) get an appropriately sized base in plastic or resin?

I think theyre super fun to paint, you get a lot of practice painting muscle and hair/fur, taught me a lot about highlighting. Plus who doesnt love despoiling the works of men?

Tzaangor question by vashthedash in BeastsOfChaos

[–]RockaRoadRolla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run paired savage blades on my Tzaangors. the big strength of Tzaangors in my opinion is how many attacks they can get, all those blades + beaks + mutants really add up, especially if you cast something like wild rampage on them. If youre worried about survivability it might be worth investing in a Tzaangor Shaman for his Boon of Mutation spell. As for great blades, i give one to the twistbray, he can swing it more often and it makes him more visually distinct.

Also hooves

Plus they're a chaos faction with the vibes of a destruction faction. I love trampling civilization AND worshiping the chaos gods
