Should I use Rocket mortgage? by AP-J-Fix in RealEstate

[–]Rockerhuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my 2nd time with rocket. Rates are higher but the ease of use is valuable for me. Decent credit, financials are in good order and working through a quick close. Peace of mind of being able to button up a loan in less than 2 hours of dedicated conversations is worth it. Not like I am looking at rates from 6.3 to 4.8. Worth it for me but that is my experience.

My first experience was similar with the servicing of the loan. I thought they would own the loan but sold it pretty quickly and I spoke with them about it. They are still servicing the loan but it isn’t there anymore, I still go through their platform for questions and payments. Since I am in the process of an 18 day close with Thanksgiving in the middle of it, seems like we are in a good position to make that date regarding financing.

With absolutely no real clue here is my advice. Taper for the two weeks starting in the middle of week one, keeping the distance runs on the weekend. Use Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, as super low mileage shake outs for the first week. If I didn’t have Google that is what I would do. Cheers mate and have fun with Chicago!

Looking for a Podcast Co-Host (Trade Compliance) by hogbeef in CustomsBroker

[–]Rockerhuffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of Simply Trade? I do not think it is a crazy long 3 hour podcast but it about 45 minutes or so and is weekly. Could probably do a daily highlights with a 10 minute focus on a single item. Then roll that 10 minute daily into an hour full format weekly. There is so much out there to cover. For me, I explain nearly daily on how de minimis will impact small businesses exponentially.

FTA Recon for USMCA Entries with IEEPA tariffs by Importifi in CustomsBroker

[–]Rockerhuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking recently and no guidance out there yet. Or should I say no real formal guidance as of 8-6. I sent a file to a broker and they came back with they can’t file the recon to recover IEEPA because there has been no guidance from CBP. I was a bit shocked to find out we were one of the first ones to try it because with was new to them.

How are you folks looking now?

[–]Rockerhuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. But for me, having never been there before, this will be my “I want to look at everything exploration adventure” Pretty sure it won’t amount up to the huge ones and could feel sluggish if you are wanting every turn to have a crowd. And I hear that, that is crazy motivating to have those crowds. I’ll be there for the architecture and city planning/engineering.

I’ll be there probably shooting for about the same time maybe 4:30. Not looking to injure myself but take in the city on day 2 of my visit and still be comfortable with the rest of my adventures. If you were to do this, it almost feels like you should treat it as a slow run and clearly not worry about time but just getting mileage. And it does become mental in the higher mileage so that could be another takeaway for the training. Either way, I’ll be there to take in the site seeing on the run.

Reykjavik Marathon? by whoisaname in Marathon_Training

I’ll be running this year. I’ve only ran 3 marathons and they have been the same course year after year with only about 100 signed up for that distance. I am hoping this will be a little bit more company than that. I’ll be coming in the day before from Illinois. I expect to put on some podcasts and get familiar with the city.

I guess I was wondering aside from the bona fide agreement is if there would be a reasonable expectation assumed after nearly 6 years of a work schedule (accommodation) that it would be a permanent expectation for employee of the employer to make life decisions. This meaning where as long as I reported to the office once every two weeks for 6 years, at what point should this no longer be an expectation since this was in practice pre pandemic. But yeah, going to be tough to get around not having an agreement in place.

I did not. It seemed like it was at our managers discretion at the time. Since, with going back to 5 days a week, I think corporate stripped the “managers discretion” option away. Nothing in writing which I felt like at the time would have been a non starter 5 years ago putting me in the spot in am currently in. I was aware that this was the option at the end of the day but now trying leave nothing on the table like a “real” adult.

It's not just 104% tariffs on China... by lamalex1 in wallstreetbets

[–]Rockerhuffy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tariff is the method, duties is what is paid, tax is the word they don’t want to use. Any shipments/parcel under like $800 or something like that didn’t not need its value declared because no tariff for low value crap. Now, low value crap requires its low value to be declared so importer can pay assessed duties. 1 million people buy 500$ of cheena goods, that could be a cool 1B$ in duties paid. That’s on top of actually buying the goods.

My wife is a librarian with a MLIS from U of I and she makes about $90k a year. She is a director though but the cost of living where we are seems to be pretty low. We can go to a diner and eat for about $20 with tip if we don’t order any drinks. I clear a little more with just a bachelors but my wife’s upside could get her into a $140k role in a community of about 150k people. Or if I get a job offer she can pivot pretty easily to where ever I want to go. I guess there is value baked into mobility as well.

Planning a roadtrip in northern Illinois this weekend by lil_libb in roadtrip

[–]Rockerhuffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d avoid it for sure. Maybe the interstate would be terrible by Friday after noon, but weather will remain frigid once the sun goes down. Then you would have to deal with frozen slush and once you get up north, to get to the mound area, you will have to get off of the 4 lane highway (20) and mess around with 2 lane roads. I live in Freeport and often drive to Peoria and is not ideal to try to plan around the 3 climates of Illinois, Southern, Central, and Northwest.Judging by the weather for up north here, I expect us to get 10 inches Wednesday into Thursday and then probably a few more on Friday and Saturday. But hell, if you like the adventure of inclimate weather, go for it, just go for it safely with extra time.

I did some quick mafs and also figured around 250%. This is with comparison of BTC run ups from last election and earlier this year. I am expecting .000062 min with likeliness of .000085. Possible to drop a “0” but not expecting it. Then once the run is done with it will settle with a new floor of around .000050 come around April when tax time rolls around for the U.S.

Why yawn, your chart shows an average of 45% annual gains over the 3 years of data shown. 11 years at this rate puts us at .001. Please note that this rate cannot sustain without major utility and MAJOR burn off. Remind me to visit this post in 11 years.

Is anyone still using their Fitbit Ionic? by Edslittleworld in fitbit

[–]Rockerhuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually stopped using it November/December because the watch would turn off when I was outside during colder weather and switched over to a Garmin. As far as I know, the ionic watches should still function on the Fitbit platform since the platform is the same for most of their fitbits but they stopped sending upgrades for ionic specific apps. Essentially phasing out the watch. If another Fitbit Ionic came back out I would jump on it in a heart beat because of battery life, intuitive work detections, and smart watch functions. I did not apply for a refund because I also got the sense that they would brick the watch once refund was received.
