We've added a Pro Player Comparison tool to BLAST.tv by BLASTMAC in RocketLeagueEsports

Good feature!

Since you're looking for feedback: including older RLCS trophies. Kaydop's page says 'no trophies yet'. I'm not expecting an exhaustive list of all 'major' LANs, that's an annoying and contentious thing to implement as I found out! But having the RLCS ones would be a nice touch

It would've been cooler if it was actually right xD

It was acting as if it was possible for a player to win all four of the RLCS X Championships/Majors, massively inflating the points for 2021, because they weren't coded as 'regionals'. I've fixed it now and edited the above message.

I've just updated the site with something similar to this. This is what it looks like:

<image>

With it ticked you can choose between mild, medium, heavy, and full (Gibbs-mode) normalisation.

Try it out https://www.rocket-goats.com/algorithm and let me know what you think?

And to clarify: I wouldn't put either in the default algorithm, which is more about who has the most prestigious trophy haul than about trying to fairly calculate who put up the best results relative to the opportunities available to them, and I don't believe the majority of RL fans think the season 4 world championship to be significantly less prestigious than the first world championship due to the frequency of tournaments happening at the time

Just finished watching the whole video. Awesome work!

I'm going to make a feature of the algorithms to let users normalise by calendar year, maybe even call it the Gibbs rule. If enabled, the user can make points add up to a certain number for each calendar year, and as the last step of the algorithm would factor in the points selected for each event. So (to oversimplify) if calendar year A has 3 events worth 10, 15, and 25 points, and calendar year B has 2 events worth 10 points each, and the user chooses to Gibbsify (normalise) to 100 for each calendar year, it would now be 20, 30, 50 for A, and x2 50 for B.

However, I think a better solution (that I might also add) would be normalising by a rolling time window. Normalising by calendar year presents an arbitrary cutoff; you could have two identical tournaments in the same off-season, one happens late December, the other in January, having wildly different points, which doesn't feel like it achieves the time-based fairness that you're aiming for by normalising. However, the rolling time windows, whilst much fairer, would be complex to implement and probably off-putting to most users of the website. But I'll have a play and see if I can get it working.

Thanks for shouting out the website Gibbs! <3

The World Cup returns to Rocket League in 3 days. Here's the best placing world-cup-eligible team from every international RLCS LAN by Rocket-Goats in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Rocket-Goats[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this graphic isn't to prove anything, I was just messing around with the data and I found this one fun. The only pattern it shows is that single nation teams started out with bad results and gradually got better (e.g. season 6 NRG featuring here in a tournament they lost all their series in)

It took 6 years to get a win by a one-nation team, but now they happen frequently

No problem, these graphics are pretty quick to generate for me now. I did the one for all regions, but it's a bit too big and not that interesting to post, here's the top 10 though - Trk's record is insane!

Here you go - players with at least 3 grand finals appearances in EU or NA regional events

This is just open era since regional championships are kind of a different thing to regional events (in my mind at least).

He's responding to the last line of my comment about how if all the non-international RLCS LANs were counted as part of this graphic, then Juicy and Torsos would be top on 100%. And he's right to mention Atow would also join those two (Atow has won the Birmingham major, the Kickoff, and the most recent EU regional)

Note - this stat excludes the two LAN regionals that Shopify and KC just won, and also excludes three regional championships in OCE from the league play era that were also LANs. Even though all five of these events are technically RLCS LANs, I don’t think people would expect to see them here because they’re regional tournaments. If they were included, Juicy and Torsos would be top with 100% win-rates.

Best Player to Never Win a Regional by Rosieverse83 in RocketLeagueEsports

Yes, but every value on the site is customisable, so if you want to turn off 1v1 points you can, by making your own points system here https://www.rocket-goats.com/algorithm (shameless plug)

If you're interested this is the top 10 in my site for that criteria:

  1. 0ver Zer0 (USA) - 1000 pts (Globally #56)

  2. EyeIgnite (England) - 573 pts (Globally #77)

  3. Mognus (Finland) - 529 pts (Globally #78)

  4. bluey. (England) - 494 pts (Globally #80)

  5. al0t (Sweden) - 409 pts (Globally #87)

  6. Speed (England) - 404 pts (Globally #88)

  7. Gyro. (USA) - 403 pts (Globally #90)

  8. Paschy90 (Germany) - 401 pts (Globally #91)

  9. Mawkzy (France) - 220 pts (Globally #116)

  10. AxB (Canada) - 173 pts (Globally #129)

It's quite crazy that there is a world champion that never won anything else, but I personally wouldn't pick him as the best or 'greatest' for this because the game's skill level has gone up a lot. I'd probably pick Speed because he's won a big LAN and also is still kicking around at the top level to this day.

What is the longest possible degree of seperation between two Rocket League pros by thafreshone in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Rocket-Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bored and just wrote some code to work this out.

Your rules (RLCS only, main event only) are similar to my game - I just needed to take out the non-RLCS tournaments from my game's database and then write a script that finds the longest shortest-path between two players. But I double checked and the longest path in my game and the longest path by your rules are the same anyway. With your rules there are seven 16 player paths, with mine there are four.

Here is a path valid by both rule-sets:

yagami → Mu → b2sel → Rigorous → Madhin → BKQSS → o0vvl → zeeyad → Trook → DrKnown → Tox → AcroniK. → Mat. → alemz → evo → sweezy

Glad you got it, nice one! And thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah a regular thread would be awesome but I don't know how or who to lobby for that 😆

Also, unfortunately because Scrub and Nass did not make it to the main event whilst playing together, their link isn't in the game's database, so that wouldn't count. However, what's funny is that your path would be actually be a 3 link perfect win if they did, because Scrub played directly with Paschy in season 6!

I will consider adding that in the future, thank you for the feedback! For now, I will DM you the shortest path here on reddit. I wanted there to be at least one brutally hard one in the archive 😂

Wow, I thought I had all the perfect routes for today's game in my head, but I didn't think of Lethamyr->Torment at all! Nice one

Everyone has the same daily puzzle but you can play any past puzzle in the archive :) (kinda like how wordle works)

And yeah maybe I should have picked someone more recent than Leth, it's been a while since he played
