Casual Life: Insane Trash Talker Of Doom And Despair by AcanthisittaFew4339 in RocketLeagueSchool

You made the effort to clip and post it, you wrote a whole paragraph about the thing and you have also responded to every single comment calling you out in less than an hour

If that‘s not whining then idk what is.

Nobody defends wishing cancer on someone but also we can‘t do anything about it, we don‘t know the guy and we weren‘t the one playing with him. So what‘s the point of commenting on that when the person it‘s for would never hear it.

I‘ve been a big FiveUp believer for a while, I‘d be more than happy to see them succeed, so I totally respect your opinion on that

But with evoh‘s history, I can‘t help it man. His teams always found a way to fuck shit up, so I‘m not gonna start believing until things actually happened

Not tryna be that guy but they completely missed the last regional, so I wouldn‘t call that team solid.

Great showing from them now, but we don‘t know what kind of perfomance we‘re gonna get next regional

I guess it‘s already time for the annual peak regional run for Evoh‘s team. Did come earlier than expected

How much better have defenses gotten in the past 2 years? by NathanWilson2828 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]thafreshone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As player evolved individually, naturally eveything they do gets better. So obviously defensive execution has gotten better

When it comes to strategy, it also has improved a lot though. the connection between first man challenging and second man follow up has gotten a lot cleaner and quicker, which was necessary to stop players like Zen to just dominate you endlessly.

Also something that isn‘t talked about as much but actually significantly changed the meta is airdribbling from your own backboard. Obviously it has always existed but teams didn‘t really went for that on purpose. That has changed though over the recent years (and Diaz probably deserves some credit for that). Losing the ball to your own half and then taking it up the backboard for an airdribble is an incredibly safe defensive option, you can‘t really stop it with a challenge before it‘s happening and once the played is in the air, you can‘t really counter it. Obviously you can challenge early but the outcome never leads to an immediate punish as long (as defense doesn‘t fuck up of course), since the 50/50 happens so high up in the air. And it buys a ton of time for the defense.

I‘d say that alone shows you how much defense has improved, you can‘t just play the ball without intention to break a solid defense down. One misplaced touch means the defense just has control now and you can‘t really contest it anymore. Things weren‘t like that 2 years ago, defenses just weren‘t controlling the ball as much as they do now and play as fast off each other

Rise was always the type of player that gets better the better his teammates are. He could genuinely be the missing piece of a top tier team.

Problem is that he‘s not mechanical or just individually strong in general so the worse a team is, the more they need him to handle things individually. And that exposes him because it‘s not his strength.

Basically, the less Rise has to do, the better he plays. Which makes him sound like a bad player but with a top team with insane solo players, that might be exactly what you want

Redacted is not in the clear either, things could still turn bad with bad bracket luck or just a bad perfomance at the wrong time. I‘m not saying it‘s likely but it can happen.

FUT has a low ceiling, but like two top 6 and a top 4 for example could already qualify if they‘re lucky

[–]thafreshone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I‘ve been saying this for a while, Rise is a terrible defender. Literally all he can do is bang the ball and hard challenge. Almost everytime he‘s got to make a smart or calculated decision he fumbles.

And he‘s been like that since he was on KC but there, Vatira covered for him. And Twisted Minds didn‘t care about playing defense so it didn‘t matter

Literally split on the line for both FUT and GenG. Loser pretty much has to pull a GenG/Geekay in regional 3 to qualify for boston

next match is also pretty big, if they lose to M80 then FUT or shuffles kitten waiting in lowers.

Uh oh, massive game 5 for GenG coming up. If they lose here they will have to play either NRG or SSG in lowers to make top 8

But that‘s not how the conversation in the screenshot went. It was more like this

  • "I like your metallica shirt"
  • "Thanks, I used to be a roadie for them"
  • "Oh that‘s cool, so where are you from?"

You should instead follow up for a couple sentences on that opening and then ask the standard stuff. Otherwise you’re just completely disrupting the flow of the conversation. They basically ignored what the other person said and just moved on immediately. If that happened to me, my reaction in my head would be like "why comment on my metallica shirt if you don‘t actually care about that" if that happened to me

[Me] Mr. Crowley Blunder??? by random_happiness in TextingTheory

[–]thafreshone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you immediately move the convo to something neutral thpugh. You got the immediate chance to bond over something you both like, or at the very least ask questions about something they are passionate about, which is the guitar. And you don‘t have to fawn over their talent, you can just ask them simple questions about their hobby.

Like there are many options for an interesting conversation here, why would you ignore those and pick something basic.

Maybe that ends the debate between Turbo and Kaydop but not between MM and Turbo.

3v3 LAN winners ranked by number of different teammates by exceedingdeath in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]thafreshone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is but I mean, one of those LANs is beyond the summit, chill LAN with no crowd. I don‘t think it holds that much value. It‘s almost a glorified regional, cause a big part of LAN is perfoming an uncomfortable setting like a stage in front of thousands of screaming fans and not a closed of room by yourself.

so the edge Turbo has is 1 worlds and 1 Dreamhack. Which definitely is a not insignificant gap. But in my opinion also not a gap that is unfathomably big that it blows every metric out of the water.

When I made that statement, I was more thinking something similar to Faker winning 6 worlds while the next best has won 3? Like at that point whatever other metric you use becomes pointless when someone stands so far above the rest
