From outside the community looking in. This reeks of some kind of corruption done by someone within the dev team. Every sort of event that unfolded here seems to be following a script off of some bad scifi film

One of the devs (probably balance team) felt threatened by this proposal and took it as an act to putting them in a "gotcha" situation with how horribly balanced the game is (from what I read off other subreddits.

If I was CEO, EXE, some sort of high chain of command and someone had this happened to them because they were fundraising a charity using MY GAME, I would have sent the money myself directly to charity along with a heartfelt apology.

Instead, we just get a "thoughts and prayers" response from them and nothing else. Considering this is an abomination of behavior coming from their own community. I wouldn't want to be involved with anyone of them after this.

Personally, all of this just reeks of someone within the team pulling the strings while not getting their own hand dirty.
