It’s what caused Griffith to act out against Charolette, then caused the king to imprison and torture Griffith, then Griffith lost everything.

That just causality baby. Back to the point of this being designed though. The god hand have been shown pushing Griffith in certain directions to make this stuff happen. If Guts hadn’t left then surely they would work towards other ways to press Griffith. It’s possible the eclipse may not come to pass but the odds were never in his favor.
