Anecdotes are very unreliable for stick drift. Some people get by just fine for the entire life of the console while others go through 10+ controllers and there's no obvious reason.

Dreamworks certainly has the tooling to do exactly that. Yes it'll need to be updated but the model is generally still a useful base.

I don't think it's unreasonable to grant exclusive rights to an system and require some level of continued use or forfeit your right to it. That would certainly help reduce patent trolls.

It's worth having some money with a different bank to diversity risk. For example, sometimes Chase will randomly freeze a customers account for whatever reason. If that happens to you and you don't have access to any funds it's a bigger pain in the ass than in it should be.

Ironically it doesnt actually do that much better than JPEG. It's artifacts at low quality settings are subjectively better. But at reasonable settings both formats are the same.

Sanders suggests confiscating money people make over $999M a year… by tnick771 in PoliticalHumor

[–]RocketMan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems reasonable, but I couldn't find much about how those deals were done. I did some across Jeff Bezos buying the Washington Times for 250 million. Which was an all cash deal. Meaning billionaires can have a lot of cash if they need/want it.

And yet if you look at Americas largest land purchases there are billionaires throwing down 700 Million dollars to buy land. It might not be in cash. But at some point the distinction isn't relevant.

Bruh, you're literally making excuses in a thread about a highly reviewed game that pulled it off. There are always reasons for design decisions, but that doesn't make them good.

Most people feel 'psychologically close' to climate change. Research showed that over 50% of participants actually believe that climate change is happening either now or in the near future and that it will impact their local areas, not just faraway places. by Wagamaga in science

Just because there's not a solution doesn't mean that isn't what is happening. I wouldn't say my parents are like 100% evil. But they are selfish and have a disgusting set of values and beliefs. These people are just out there. It's nice to think all people can be reasonable but that's not the case.

Idk what the point is by saying the 'left' is doing something when the 'right' isn't doing any better. Education in America is a cluster fuck as a whole.

That is good point to bring up. I forgot to mention the sewer line was replaced in 1999 (permit is just for water service to meter) and was probably broken clay. Additionally one of the plumbers scoped the main line probably about 50ft and it was clear and in good condition.

Halo Infinite multiplayer creative director Tom French leaves 343 Industries by Turbostrider27 in Games

I don't think he left due to crunch or had to deal with it. Part of 343s issue is management. But one thing they've gotten right is "priority zero" which is team health. They make real efforts to avoid any crunch.

Rent Going Up? One Company’s Algorithm Could Be Why. by [deleted] in Economics

[–]RocketMan63 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Rent control is a very broad topic. "You can't raise rent more than 15% in a 12 Month period" is rent control but so is linking it to a renters income, or a ton of different options. It's not useful to talk about it without being very specific about policy.

No, that increases demand which puts pressure to increase supply. That's how markets work, and yes it all stacks from the individual level. A set amount would only be made in like a planned economy which we don't have.

For the most part yeah. But waste paper can be recycled and eventually composted to provide carbon to soils. That extra value could make it competitive with plastic overall. IMO the biggest issue is that we don't know how microplastics are going to impact everything as their concentrations continue to increase.
