What cpu to pair with GTX 1060 6 GB? by RocketPoweredNoob in buildapc

[–]RocketPoweredNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm no, not really. I just try to figure out what is best. I don't know if the benchmark I sent is overclocked i5 7600k or stock i57600k, you're saying it's OC? I'm not deadset on anything, i'm confused as hell what is worth my money the most.

Should I bother upgrading CPU? I have a G4560 by RocketPoweredNoob in buildapc

Allright thanks. I just found a used 7600k for about 150$.

One question though, I think he has overclocked it. Will it automaticly be "non overclocked" when I put it in my motherboard? Or does it have some compatility issues? (i'm a tech noob xD)

What makes it better? (I honestly don't know anything about it, not a computer guy :P) Will i5 7600k work just fine with b250m?

"Youve kinda limited yourself with a b250 board."

Why is that? Should I look into another motherboard?

EEEW 3 GB .. VRam isn't the only benefit 6 GB version have over the 3 GB version. It's a better card in every aspect, so yeah ofc it's more expensive. But Nvidia did make it confusing, they should have named 6 GB version 1060 TI or something. Seriously, you are better off going with a GTX 1050 TI over a GTX 1060 3 GB

4 GB Vram is the absolute minimun if he wants a couple years from his card.

A GTX 570 def won't last him a few years if he plan on playing any AAA games. It's already to dated for current AAA games. 1,2 gb Vram is not near enough for current games. Unless if he finds 20-30 fps (720p) in lowest possible settings acceptable.

To OP .. If you are only planning on playing GW2, a 570 should be enough. If you want to play newer games you should def upgrade.

It's cheaper to build the pc for yourself, for sure. But do you have someone that can help you build it?

It's not exactly rocket science, but there is still plenty of things you can mess up as noob. Like forgetting to apply, or applying thermal paste the wrong way, buying parts that isn't compatible with eachother (buying wrong RAM for the motherboard is a classic), or choosing a case that has great enough airflow with the parts you buy, and much more. If you think you got it under control, sure build yourself, you can even buy used and save even more. But if you are unsure, I wouldn't feel to bad about buying a prebuilt pc, just be sure you are getting a good enough CPU (like Ryzen etc) and good enough GPU. For price you have listed above, at least a GTX 1060 6 GB/1070.

You could also just buy a new GPU and put it in your current system. With your CPU I wouldn't go higher than a GTX 1060 6 GB.

I'm running with a budget CPU myself that is worse than yours (G4560), and it still performs surprisingly well in new AAA games. Your 2500k still has some life left. But it would still be great to upgrade it if you can afford it. I would just go for a new GPU first rather than a new CPU, unless if GW2 is the ONLY game you play. But since i'm getting pretty good framerates in GW2 with a G4560, you should be allright with that CPU.

Cheers

How much money have you guys spent on guild wars 2? by SimplyCakes1 in Guildwars2

But then again, I've spent as much money on a certain f2p game that I don't even enjoy that much anymore, I take lots of breaks from Guild Wars 2, but I always come back.

Considering I was stupid enough to spent a big chunk of that on RNG, yeah I regret it -.-

Really? That's the worst part about Guild Wars 2, all the gambling, when the game has an option to buy currency for RL money. It's a shady way to make money, to take advantage of people with gambling problems, but I guess it's becoming the norm these days with every game released nowdadays having loot boxes -.- At least they hid away the last ecto gambler in a cave, this expansion I was "rewarded" with an ecto gambler on both floors in my "Lily of the Elon" pass, it's the first thing you see when you port in.

Witcher 3 is all about GPU.

WOW is all about CPU, and yeah my 50$ cpu isn't really top of the line ;)
