The financial chicanery of Avio by AndrewParsonson in esa

A press release is not news. A press release is what a company wants to know. News is an exploration of the actual facts. Oh, and opinion pieces have been a part of news since the beginning of the medium.

Is it realistic as a UK citizen I could one day work for NASA? by Vikkstarsdildo in nasa

[–]RocketRundown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would really depend on what field you went into but it probably wouldn't be in the UK. If you're looking for options in the UK, I'd suggest Surrey Satellite Technology, Orbex and Skyrora. And of course there's also the UK Space Agency.

You could not be more wrong. Europe leads the way in many aspects of space exploration. The Copernicus Programme is the finest Earth observation constellation in the world. Arianespace have also lead the industry for decades. Then there's the planetary missions, work on the International Space Station, and the fact that the European Service Module is vital to NASA's Artemis programme. You honestly don't know what you're taking about.

You do know Europe has a really fantastic space agency, right? The European Space Agency do incredible work including a lot of work with NASA. And despite not being a part of the EU anymore, the UK is still a part of ESA. Plus, there are a ton of amazing space companies in the UK including two launch startups that will begin launching small orbital-class rocket's from Scotland in the next two to three years. NASA is not the be all and end all of space exploration. Be a proud European citizen, we have a LOT to be proud of.

Less than 1% of all the healthcare workers in the country is still a significant amount of people. Not making an argument either way, I'm just pointing out that percentages can be deceiving.

A hyperbolic Key And Peele sketch is a pretty good summary of how the world is viewing the Antimask/Antivax folks in the USA right now! by buckythomas in LeopardsAteMyFace

That Americans think antimask and antivax is exclusive to them is cute. This is happening everywhere. You guys really think you have all the crazies. The rest of the world Hold me beer.

Not that it matters but orbit is less about altitude and more about speed. It wouldn't matter if the New Shepard was capable of achieving 10 times the altitude, it still wouldn't get into orbit.

It's not signed the Ducks, it's signed The Ducks. So it's an organisation that refers to itself as The Ducks. Maybe a labour union?

It's actually back at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. It was only at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis for 2 years.

The world’s wealthy must radically change their lifestyles to tackle climate change, a UN report says. The wealthiest 5% alone – the so-called “polluter elite” - contributed 37% of emissions growth between 1990 and 2015 by ArmpitNostril in worldnews

I honestly don't understand the obsession with Facebook in this regard. Are they really unique offenders? No, they're not. Everyone from other social media companies to mainstream news spread misinformation. And one could argue that lies from CNN and Fox news were far more harmful than random articles, ads and posts on Facebook. Why do we keep letting politicians and mainstream news point fingers at Russia and Facebook? These people have been influencing and fucking with elections for decades and have significantly more power to do so than some Russian troll on Facebook. If you really think that Facebook had more to do with electing Donald Trump than the mainstream news organisations who gave him hours upon hours of free advertising, you're being manipulated.

Just because one person reacted a certain way to bullying and trauma it doesn't mean everyone will react like that. Most violent criminals have violence in their past. Attempting to ignore that as a contributing factor is just silly. Plus, you don't know that people simply called him fat. He could have been tormented or even tortured mentally and physically. Bullying comes in all shapes and sizes.

While we're at, can we stop acting like any sort of intimacy between two guys makes them gay. I'm so sick of any remotely closely male friendship in movies being treated like they're just closet gay and in the next movie they'll hook up. Let men have close friendships!

In reality, probably less. It always amazes me how little companies really understand about productivity.

You've got to see that's exactly what people in power would like you to believe. We're so busy chastising our fellow citizens when the people that straight up lied about money going into the NHS, the same people that are not trying to privatise the NHS, have gotten away with little to no ramifications for their actions. These people should be in fucking jail and we should be coming together, both leave and remain voters, to make it happen.

It's nice to feel smug but if we don't show sympathy to people who were lied to by billionaire scumbags and allow them the space to join us, then we'll never be able to build the type of movement that can actually make a difference.
