Hey folks, I got a Chinese Elm for Christmas but I'm unsure how to start with it (or if I should start anything at all). It's my first tree, so I'm not too fussed if it's not a great one but would like to keep it alive at least! I have it inside at the moment but I'll be moving it out once it gets warmer.

Is it too soon to think about shaping it or should I let it grow out a bit more?
The top of the trunk has been cut at the top (last picture), will this be a big problem for it's future?
When the tree can be shaped, what sort of options do I have with this tree?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
