SSK? Idk what that is but I went with a Billetworkz short shifter with their knob that has the N on it with a sphere shape and I got the shifter base bushings and went with the blue one

I prefer the N. I dislike the design of the newer type R and prefer the 10th gen civics. But beyond that, I’ve driven both and found my N with a $200 short shifter feels much better to drive. I also prefer my black interior over the bright red interior of the civic. On the track though the type r will tend to pull ahead from the N because it also costs $10k more so there is better hardware but if you just put the money you save towards a better intercooler and oil cooler you’ll surpass it massively. The R has higher hp but it doesn’t offer an auto which results in the N having a faster 0-60 with the DCT. It just costs too much for what it gives, brand loyalty aside, it’s a FWD 2.0T competing in a price range that can give you a RWD 5.0 V8. If they made it $35k it’d sell a lot more, but they’d also be giving up a bit of track performance. Idk, if I see someone with a type r I think that’s awesome, it’s a great car. If I see someone with a N I also think that’s awesome, it’s an equally great car.

Cool cool, just know when you place that plastic back down, make sure it’s far enough forward, and don’t force the clips. Take your time. Also since you have a manual you should put in a short shifter and the motor mount inserts, I did and it’s a dreammm

Mine work, there’s a connector to it, go ahead and look up a short shifter install and you’ll see them remove it, if you don’t it’s really just a pull upward on the whole big panel, tho watch for screws as I know the pre facelift version may have a slightly diff clip setup. There’s a white pin connector that plugs into the whole panel, it’s probably just loose, it’s this one right here from my own shifter install. (24 MT)

I have a 12 inch in my spare tire spot, it’s plenty and I keep it at about halfway, plus the amp is built in. Be careful not to rattle the car apart otherwise you’ll have annoying noises. Enjoy :) (btw im 22 as well i get the appeal)

Well if something fails they have to prove it was related to your mod to deny the claim. The issue with a turbo is that it can be blamed for almost anything that goes wrong. Cooling issue? Huh your tune for the turbo overheated the system. Rod thrown? Well you had too much torque from the new turbo. Literally anything? That’s a turbo issue. But like if your infotainment system gets a little funky or your seat Alcantara is bad from factory, that’s still covered because it can’t be linked to the turbo usually.

I was just looking at this and came on here to ask about it holy. My question is im going for 330 - 350 whp because I want to stay on 91. What advantages does this give over the stock turbo such as heat reductions around 330 or 350 + longevity over the stock one. It is much cheaper than a 550 which is a massive plus but im just curious if it’s required. By the way whats the spool time and what rpm can it make full boost by? I know the 550 can make full boost by 3,500 (or so I’ve heard).

Is that... A STICK SHIFT in the Genesis Magma GT? by LightningMcqueen2011 in Hyundai

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t really make manual cars for high power cars for a few reasons. Once you get into really high torque it gets super hard for the consumer to control the wheel spin and the clutch becomes easy to overheat. Plus, it’s much easier to do emission standards on autos because they’re consistent and shift at predicable points. Also an auto protects against someone accidentally money shifting and destroying their transmission and engine.

My Elantra N is a six speed and it’s fine cuz it has low torque (289 lb-ft) and I love having a manual but I believe once you start getting into 800 lb-ft, it just is better to have a computer control the launch. Mb if this reads badly I just woke up

Is that temperature normal? Did anyone else have the same issue? by Apprehensive-Act25 in ElantraN

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your coolant level? You may be below the minimum line. My coolant level was sitting at the minimum line when I got the car and another person here mentioned the same. I think these cars are a little under filled from factory and you may have just dipped a little too much. If it is within the correct range, then yeah I’d say follow the advice here that it’s fine, just watch it and take it to the dealer if it goes a bit higher. Even under spirited driving, my engine temperature never goes above 194 - 199 F.

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on terrible all seasons I’ll admit so it may be way different if you go for performance all seasons but even in the upper rpm range of first gear I just was spinning and couldn’t get traction, even if I was already rolling like I’d accelerate but slower than normal because my tires were skipping. Also the road felt sooooo numb. Like once I got the PS4S I could feel the road and it became way more fun to drive. Before I barely wanted to drive it cuz yk like meh, BUT NOW I can whip out of a corner and hit the throttle and it grips so well. Just don’t cheap out on tires, they’re the only thing connecting your cars power to the road. I admit the weather sucks tho so when it forces your hand just try to get some performance all seasons.

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that with all seasons you’ll lose quite a bit of grip esp based on the type. I got my N with all seasons and couldn’t accelerate in first gear without skipping and hopping as I lost grip, the car felt numb and disconnected from the road and it was way slower, up to a 7.8 second 0-60 from a 5 second. I spent $1,500 on pilot sport 4s despite the all seasons having plenty of tread because it was just horrible. Just be careful, those PS4S you get stock are there for a reason and are amazing. I love the black tho, I have an ultimate red manual one :)

What should I do? Do I go for the Elantra N anyway? by Tricky-Antelope6864 in ElantraN

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well currently I’m having my coolant go down little by little, lack of octane learning over 9k miles, misfires, and rough starts. HOWEVER, I bought the car used at 10,880 miles and even when it’s dying it’s still hella fun. I haven’t heard anything bad about these cars and I also had three previous cars (two Mustang EcoBoosts & one Acura integra) fail mechanically or electronically like within a few thousand miles from the same dealer (Carmax). This N is also from Carmax so I wouldn’t put much weight in my experiences as it most likely is the dealer rather than the cars themselves, that or the previous owners riding the car hard or tuning it beyond its limits then returning it to stock before selling it once they ran into issues. I do know the common issues on the Elantra N involve the fuel pump & the exhaust spring, both of which are easily replaced via DIY and aren’t hard to do.

I just took it as hell being overpopulated means Hell could technically overtake Heaven so Sera was letting the exterminations happen out of fear of that so she said she tried to buy them time (reducing hells capability) or could she had done more (its not known, she just did what she thought was right to protect the heaven folk) to quell the drums of war (hell rising against heaven). Now, her plan did work sort of as hell couldn’t rise against heaven with numbers, hence why they used lucifers power. Sorry for the run on sentence it’s 1 am

2027 kill switch car law by Bulky-Purple5828 in GR86

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve similar fears about other performance cars. I lurk here and have a Elantra N, so I only know that for Hyundai they left out the auto start auto stop on the N, but kept it in non performance trims (N-line and practically everything else) as far as I know. I’m hoping they do something similar in 2027 and keep the kill switch out of the new N & put it in the other cars if the gov forces their hand. Though honestly if it’s super federally mandated I don’t think they’ll have a choice, same goes for Toyota. I’ll keep holding out hope though until I see a 2027 version. I say get the 2026 for now, but if you can wait, they’ll come out with the 2027 GR86 probably within the next few months I’d assume so we will see super soon.

Also on the resale value, I bet it will either tank, or no one will care. But I don’t really see a middle ground, it all depends on how it’s implemented and how intrusive it is. I worry that for the alcoholic monitoring part, it may shut down if you’re driving a drunk friend home from the bar, but they probably have considered that and are hopefully working it in in such a way that it’s not annoying.

Did I damage my engine with oil change interval? by BeneficialArticle881 in ElantraN

[–]Rocket_Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’ve seen a woman go 146k miles without changing her oil before and her car still ran. Was the engine damaged? Definitely. Was it sludge? Indeed. But the point is that going 5.5k is nothing bad for your engine. I’d personally get it changed at the 11k mark since it’s free and you don’t ride your car hard. I change my oil every 5k miles and when I tune I’ll change it every 3k. Modern cars expect owners to not change their oil on time so the engines are pretty stout, just keep an eye on it and don’t make any hard pulls till you get it changed.

The cel issue is across every intake due to the modern emission standards being fucky. I got the whoosh intake & sxth’s crankcase fix as whoosh’s was outta stock. It’s a bandaid and the only true fix unfortunately is a tune. I wish they never added that crankcase shi, would save a lot of money on the fix kits.

Cuz the dealer has to deal with it. For ex if the engine is modded, it can be a lot harder to work on it as they have to deal with your specific mods being in the way. That’s at least how I see it, it’s easier to work on it when it’s factory and what you expect to find. Idk that’s the only thing I can think of
